From AFP: Tuesday, March 9 N.Korea says ready for dialogue and war with US North Korea said Tuesday it would strengthen its nuclear deterrent in response to US military threats and is prepared for both dialogue and war with Washington. The comments from a foreign ministry spokesman follow Monday's launch of a major US and South Korean military exercise which the North depicts as a rehearsal for invasion. On Monday the communist state said it had ordered its military on full alert and announced readiness to "blow up" South Korean facilities. The US and South Korea say the annual Key Resolve/Foal Eagle exercise, which involves 18,000 American and 20,000 South Korean troops, is defensive. North Korea habitually responds angrily to the war games south of the border but they normally pass off without major incident. This year's exercise coincides with diplomatic efforts to bring the North back to six-nation nuclear disarmament talks. The North quit the forum last April, a month before staging its second atomic weapons test. As a precondition for returning, it demands a US commitment to open talks about a peace treaty to replace the armistice which ended the 1950-53 Korean War. The ministry spokesman, quoted by Pyongyang's official news agency, described the military drill as "nuclear war exercises aimed at mounting a preemptive attack" on the North. The exercise proved the justice of the proposal for a peace treaty, the spokesman added. "The DPRK (North Korea) is fully ready for dialogue and war. It will continue bolstering up its nuclear deterrent as long as the US military threats and provocations go on." |

That was donkey years ago. In this age, we have nukes. Look at NK, they have 5-6 nuclear missiles already. If Kim were to go berserk (he is going to die anyway), he can launch nukes onto America. Yes, the USA can invade the country but the damage caused by the nukes is irreversible... |

Kyoma those nuclear warheads are at best outdated offspring of Soviet technology, and as far as I heard, the furthest they can hit are the southern part of Alaska....maybe Hawaii. Im not saying there no threat but the North Koreans have little to walk while they talk. |

China's getting stronger militarily. And it's no more communist, for god's sake EA have you been living under a shell? It has been capitalist and it has opened up since the 1980s... China's economy is going to overtake Japan's very, very soon. Then, it is forecasted that in 2038 it will take over the US economy. But yes, I do agree that China will never become a superpower, because its people lack moral standards. The previous years of Communism have led to moral decay. But when the older generation dies out, the youth take power, then you'd start to see some change in global order. FACE IT. Eras come and go. |

Japan: 4,910,692 China: 4,327,448 Japan: 127,704,000 China: 1,325,639,982 If China is just about to pass Japan, it fails. United States 46,443 per capita Japan 32,817 per capita China 6,546 per capita I think how successful a nation's economy is should be judged by GDP per capita, having a really big number in GDP shows little of how your people live and work ─ which is what should matter most no? China's poor for the most part. If China's GDP per capita starts to grow substantially, it would earn my respect and force me to see that they're growing as a world/economic power. Until then... Oh, and I have no knowledge of economics, so feel free to rip this apart!!! |

nope, you're absolutely right. we were talking about this in economics yesterday. GDP = total value of all finished goods in a country. that means that China isn't producing much. Per Capita Income is also another good indicator. CHINA Ranked 108 at ~$3000 USD USA Ranked 14 at ~ $50,000 USD thats the average income in those respective countries. Source So China isn't going anywhere fast. PLUS! Water Shortage PLUS! Massive Inflation And thats not even talking about all the American Debt they own, which doesn't help them at all. I'm not saying America is the best, i'm just saying its better than china ![]() |

A Strong military means nothing with a weak economy and corrupt leadership. China IS still communist *points to incredibly low Per Capita Income*. Plus, i don't believe China, as it exists today, will survive the recession. I think we're going to see an ethnically fragmented conglomeration of nations with their own governments. So the "all powerful" china will be "the slightly less powerful" group of countries where china used to be. Evidence--Just look at the number of ethnicities in China, and look at how corrupt their economy is. When America's economy goes in for a second dive ((which it will)), China's will follow, and with that, China will splinter. |

Missed this one. 1948- Arab Israeli War, which i described 1964- War over Water, Israel vs. Syria and Lebanon 1967- Six Day War. Israel Vs. Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The Arab states of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria helped out. 1967-1970- War of Attrition. Israel Vs. Egypt. 1973- Yom Kippur War. Israel and a bunch of Arab States, including Egypt and Syria. The list goes on. 1978, 1982, 1993, 2000, 2006, 2008, 2009. Source. The only reason ISRAEL hasn't used nukes is because America has told them not to. Theres a famous story that i can't find reference to. US flew a spy plane over israel, and saw they were warming up the nukes. US: "STOP THAT!" Israel: "Ok. Troops, Supplies, aid, by tomorrow then?" US: <_< Now that the US is bitching at israel to stop messing around, I'm not sure what Israel will do. As for NK, the US has a missile shield and Kim Jong Il can't do shit about it. By the time his nukes fell into the pacific, his country would be an irradiated wasteland. |

I think it's important to note that China has been in this situation before. back in the Late 1800s china was one of the largest Economies in the world. And People where saying the exact same thing they are now. However Things changed radically. The British Crippled China by taking over the opium trade, and china collapsed from there. today China's economy is ridiculously inflated. its currency is horribly undervalued by the Government, and they cannot afford to keep it undervalued for much longer. Once it does finally get to its market value, the Chinese Economy will collapse. China is no real threat to the United States, Economically or Militarily. At Least right now provided that Obama doesn't get us even further into debt with them for healthcare and they start blackmailing us (which they have already started). So chances are Slim that China will manage to get to be a Global Superpower, China has always been in this cycle where it reaches potential global domination, however falls apart because of one flaw. |

He has declared 7 times that Iran is nuclear power since 2005. He's only a clown with not real power. That's not the case of the Korean dwarf.
I'm not sure about your point. Israel won the war because it was better organized than the arabs and because the weapons and planes from Czechlovakia. If not, it had lose the war, and maybe today the far-left demostrators would wear t-shirts with the David's Star and banners saying "Free Israel", "Palestine=Fascism". In the first wars against Egypt, Israel was helped by France and England. 1967 was a little more like you say, but I think the Arabs lose because they didn't expected the Israeli attack. From the Yom Kippur War to the present, Israel has had the military help of the United States, so the situation was quite different. On the contrary, you have France, in theory a superpower, which was defeated by the Germans in 1940 without too problems, I think. |

Well France and Germany had been at odds since Napoleon, and since Napoleon they had been wageing wars with one another, with different sides winning (I think the Long Run score is Germany 2, France 2) I'n 1940, both Germany and France where about the same in terms of Power (at least according to what most people thought), what really shocked the world was that the Germans managed to win so quickly, and this was due to many advances in Technology, tactics and the General Anger the Germans had toward the French. There only analogous situation I can think of involving the United States, would be the USSR completely overrunning Western Europe despite the large presence of American and NATO Troops. While it was certainly possible that they could've done it, People would've been very very surprised that it happened. In the modern World the United States has unmatched Power and Influence. Since the Collapse of the USSR, I've heard many people refer to the US as a "Hyper-power". Internationally It takes the influence of the Russians, the Chinese and the EU to counter the International influence of the United States. Now this may be me being an American and being somewhat arrogant, but I don't see that Influence falling. I will agree that the US has been losing International Power to the Russians, the Chinese and the EU, I still see the US holding more influence then the others, and remaining the worlds Dominant Power for Quite some time, provided we don't totally screw it up (which with our current President, is Quite Possible) EDIT: *TGE notices the Extreme Irony of reading a Pro-American Argument surrounded by USSR Flags and Symbols in Sig |

Our influence isn't falling, no, but its not sustained by anything. Our Government is corrupt, bankrupt, etc, and if we don't fix all that soon, THEN America is going to have some srs shit go down. But what we Americans will find as a hellish period of time, for the rest of the world it'll be 10x worse. so either way, America will be on top, its just a question of whether its on top of the castle or the garbage heap. |

its patriotism backed by statistics and history. not arrogance. Arrogance = "I am better than you" Patriotism = "My country is better than yours" And my patriotism, yes, can be obnoxious  |
