From AFP: Tuesday, March 9 N.Korea says ready for dialogue and war with US North Korea said Tuesday it would strengthen its nuclear deterrent in response to US military threats and is prepared for both dialogue and war with Washington. The comments from a foreign ministry spokesman follow Monday's launch of a major US and South Korean military exercise which the North depicts as a rehearsal for invasion. On Monday the communist state said it had ordered its military on full alert and announced readiness to "blow up" South Korean facilities. The US and South Korea say the annual Key Resolve/Foal Eagle exercise, which involves 18,000 American and 20,000 South Korean troops, is defensive. North Korea habitually responds angrily to the war games south of the border but they normally pass off without major incident. This year's exercise coincides with diplomatic efforts to bring the North back to six-nation nuclear disarmament talks. The North quit the forum last April, a month before staging its second atomic weapons test. As a precondition for returning, it demands a US commitment to open talks about a peace treaty to replace the armistice which ended the 1950-53 Korean War. The ministry spokesman, quoted by Pyongyang's official news agency, described the military drill as "nuclear war exercises aimed at mounting a preemptive attack" on the North. The exercise proved the justice of the proposal for a peace treaty, the spokesman added. "The DPRK (North Korea) is fully ready for dialogue and war. It will continue bolstering up its nuclear deterrent as long as the US military threats and provocations go on." |

Discuss if this will blow up or just be revealed as another blackmail to get more aid. |

North Korea can't do anything, but unfortunately neither can Obama. The US will probably appease, after about 6 months of waffling. |

Agreed, Though this could be the North Korean's trying to win the crazy war against Iran. After the Iranian President's (I wont try to spell his name) comments about 9/11 Iran has official jumped ahead of North Korea in terms of insanity |

Feng Shui, a still-widely-used Chinese system of geographical and material aesthetics for the purpose of maintaining or improving positive studies, career and lifestyle, has predicted that this year, North and South Korea will reunite. It seems that the prediction is coming true. The North is, I think, experiencing an economic breakdown, with no good leader to succeed Kim (other than his young son). It has agreed to return to the six-party talks, and I'm sure that they will decline the offer for humanitarian aid in exchange of nuclear dismantlement. It's a slippery slope leading to South Korea consuming the North and eventual reunification. |

north and south korea will NEVER reunite, not as long as America has troops south of the armistice line. |

I predict Beijing will now use its current loans to the US to equalise the tension should it flare up. This swinging see saw situation will also affect China too. If our Kim's regime collaspe, people will start to question the right to rule by the CCCP, by then, there will be millions of protesters, something which the country, unlike Tiananmen 89, is unable to control. They fear a reverse Chiang Kai Shek takeover. |

china's a bullshit country. its being kept up by inflation and corruption, it has no real fiscal power, similar to how america has no real fiscal power. If America's economy finally collapses, the world economy will collapse, and some srs shits gon' go down. |

CCCP is the Soviet Union  What were you thinking, Koponia? Americans are just being rascist and jealous that another country is rising up. There's no such thing as eternal reign. Did they get too cocky when they won the Cold War? ![]() It's time to accept that in this next decade, the focus will be on Asia's market. |

LOL. Asia will NEVER be as stable as America. America is geographically separated from the world, therefore economically separated from the world, which means when we're doing well, our currency can retain its value EASIER because no one else can do it. China? Communist, they are next to india and pakistan. Europe? RUssia likes to shut off their natural gass (besides the world wars). America will NEVER be subject to foreign invasion, because its just too difficult, too expensive, and we're too powerful. So no, theres no such thing as eternal reign, but i don't see it ending in the near future. And i didn't even START talking about how china has a shitty economy and they are not going to survive. we'll have like 8 different countries replacing china in about 10 years. |

Oh, C'mon, EA... If rogue nations or terrorists suddenly go berserk, they can easily crush all of us... No matter how strong America is, it is of no use. And, I believe in fengshui.. |

no, i don't believe they can. When Israel was created after world war two, all the arab nations were pissed. in a rare display of unity, they organized a coordinated assault of the Israeli state. This was about six arab nations, against one nation that was just made. Israel won. Nuff said. |
