You know how the UN has a big ol' building built into a glacier, where they store samples of plant life from around the world?

We should make a WA resolution copying that.

and after it passes the Caprecian Trials, i'll submit it to the WA forum for consideration.

Thoughts?

Right there.

SO.

Heres the things that this resolution should do.

1: make a committee to determine an optimal location
2: require member nations to donate seed samples of plant life
3: anything else?

it just needs to not ONLY make a committee. and it needs to do something. i think 1 and 2 satisfy those requirements. if they don't we'll see when it goes to the official forum gauntlet.

Just for the spice of contention, do you want to levy member states for the cost of the project?

Hm, it'd be interesting to see where that goes.

Draft1

The World Assembly,

BEARING IN MIND the potential for climate change to damage the environment,
COGNIZANT OF the potential for nuclear weapons to cause further damage to the environment,
BELIEVING that no nation of the WA would permit itself to knowingly increase the amount of damage done to the environment,
NOTING that the WA cannot prevent those non-member states from further damaging the environment with pollution or nuclear weapons,
DEEPLY CONCERNED that if this body does not act, the natural beauty of the world could be irreversibly damaged,
CONVINCED, that storing seeds in a cold environment could preserve them for posterity,

Hereby,

1. CREATES the Devastation Reversal and Environmental Active Defense Committee (DREAD-COM)
2. AUTHORIZES this committee to select a suitable environment for the construction of a facility for cold storage of seeds,
3. REQUIRES nations of the World Assembly to provide seeds for storage in this facility,
4. URGES nations to contribute financially to this project,
5. FURTHER URGES nations unaffiliated with the world assembly to participate in this effort,
6. EXPRESSES ITS APPRECIATION to those nations which donate seeds and monetary support for this project

Also note, the title listed on this thread, the "Doomsday Seed Vault Act" is a working title and open to modification.
Again, your insight and input would be most appreciated.
