I thought it would be a good idea to put myself up for questioning, I am a long term Conservative party member, have been an activist for a while and will be standing in the local elections here in 2011. Now of course I am biased and hope we give a thrashing to Brown ans his cronies at the general election but I am quite happy for you to ask me any questions about the Tory party or British politics in general and i'll answer to the best of my knowledge! We tories are a strange bunch ;P |

In regards to Koponia's question I get asked this question a lot and my standard reply is; "I am not a homosexual who happens to be a Conservative, I am a Conservative that just happens to be homosexual, my sexuality plays no part in my political viewpoint and I for one oppose gay pride events, and the term "gay marriage"." In regards to Lucava's question i'd say that if Boris were party leader we'd gain support from individuals who usually wouldn't support us, but we'd lose support from within the party itself, Boris is not a leader, Cameron is. Cameron knows exactly how to behave whilst Boris needs a fair amount of guidance, I've also met them both, whilst Boris is hilarious, you can get a better conversation out of Dave. |

Ok. You are a conservative homosexual believing that one should not flaunt their sexuality. Am I correct? |

Or Nick Clegg even. Or Caroline Lucas. Or anyone but Cameron for that matter. Oh. Except Nick Griffin of course. So basically, no right wing nutjobs. |

No I am not married, I am gay, and live in the UK, we can get civil partnerships here that I agree with equal rights yay. But I completely disagree with calling it marriage thats a big no no. Why all the hate towards Cameron? Atleast hes not a serial liar like Brown, who seems completely incapable of telling the truth. |

Lucava seeing as I am wishing to one day become a politician I take mild offense hahaha, Politician does not mean a liar, it means how well can you twist your words and put a spin on everything. In regards to Dom: I am a huge fan of Thatcher, I am currently reading her autobiography which is huge, I think shes one of the best Prime Ministers this country has ever seen. In regards to Ubi: Europe! Dun dun dunnnnnnn. In all honesty the party isn't as split as Labour likes to make us out to be, and nowhere near as divided on the issue as the party was in the 90's, the large majority of the party support Cameron on Europe and you only get the hardliners such as Mr Hannan who get angry over it. Hannan is a prime example of the further right wing section of the party, I'm sure some of you remember him attacking the NHS with the republicans when he visited America, my personal belief is, that the EU was created to be all about trade, to make trade easier, to lower tariffs, to make cooperation in regards to trade better, its now turning into some sort of super federal state and that angers me because that is not what its meant to be. It should be about trade nothing else, it used to be called the European Community, being part of a community I am quite happy with, being part of a Union? No thank you. we should be in the EU but we need to scrape back the powers we have, we can no longer have a referendum on Lisbon as its being signed into law, if we wanted to change that all 27 member states of the EU would have to agree with us and I don't see it happening, the referendum is now impossible. In reply to Magilan, never. They were never worth much anyway hence why we gave them up so easily, the British Empire became far richer after we had lost the American colonies and turned to the east. |
