Nation states for noobs

To understand nation states and the structure of the nation states community we must dive down to the very beginning of when one enters nation states. So what are the basics of nation states? Well lets start with the core element of NS… the nations and the members who control those nations.

Posted Image

1) Issues

A list of hypothetical scenarios for your nation that you choose to answer or not. These issues dictate whether nation becomes a capitalist one or a communist one etc. There are a fair amount of nations who choose not to do anything else but answer these issues in order to get their nation to a preferred standing, while other participating nations in the NS community vary in their answers of the issues. Now answering the issues are of no consequence however if you do not like your nation being labelled “liberal paradise” or “capitalist rightwing” the only answer is to complete the issues in which way you feel is to that preferred standing.

2) Telegrams/messages

Where nations receive messages from other nations. Not so much used these days on personal levels as opposed to the forums however telegrams are prime for interregional messages and requests… telegrams are also prime in usage by raiders and defenders alike in coordination. Telegrams are also used by the WA system to notify WA member nations of laws passed in the organization.

3) Dossier

To keep track of nations of interest and as to which regions they are on and their activity. Used on a regular bases again by raiders who are watching over founders or delegates on the verge of collapse/ inactivity and deletion for them to then attack.

4) Reports

Works in conjunction with the Dossier… further displays the actions of other nations of interest on three key factors of that nation; the actual status of that member in terms of activity, the nations activity in that region including posts and self generated reports by this nation who seeks other nations.

5) Settings

The core of your nation. Here the average NSer can change his email, issue posts, password, motto and national gaming information.

6) Access to region

The portal to the region to which you are based in.

7) The world

Takes you to the central “round about” of nation states where you have a choice between search regions and nations by name. It also displays the worlds top ten nations in the topic of interest at that time e.g worlds most liberal nations, and also the featured region which is a random calculated shuffle of regions chosen.

8) World Assembly (WA)

The “United nations” of the nation states world. Around 20% of all nations are WA members and usually membership of the organization brings up demand of that nation especially in the case of raiders and defenders. Only WA members can endorse the delegate and this power has been exploited by raiders since the founding of NS because it “floods” the region of interested provided there is no founder and it installs a new foreign delegate which then assumes control of the region. The WA is also used for introducing legislation to other nations around the world of this membership and delegates are usually obligated to vote in the WA on a regular bases.

Some nations/regions outright oppose the world assembly citing that it is part of a conspiracy (like the real United nations) to bring forth a one world order. Other regions outright support the WA but whatever the standing, nobody denies the advantages of having WA nations in ones region and it often enough WA membership is the only form of military action in the world of nation states.

9) News

Official news usually posted by Max Barry himself (always… probably) and on a regular bases regards changes to nation states itself. A lot of the times it involves personal encounters or situations of Max Barry himself including news regarding his past books and major exposure on the outside world on Nation states itself.

10) FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions that are similar to this…. Accepting its not for a degree and not as spunky!

11) About

About the website itself including nation states, the forum and the developers in setting up nation states.

12/13) Forum

The official forum for nation states so to say. The forum itself could be described as a totally separate community from nation states and the business of regions for there are “forum only” groups but it is still very much connected in a sense. There are different sub-forums within the major forum however the two major sides could be readily identified in the forum, those are the social discussions and the role playing discussions. There are role playing only groups within the “international incidences” forum and most form groups of nations which compete with other nations and have wars. There have been attempts in the past to create a Caprecia role playing group in the jolt forums to get more exposure however that has been met with non-interest and none-confidence in it and is found to rather drag activity unnecessarily out of these forums. Threads are always being displayed on the left bottom side bar of all nations to attract them to participate in the forums more.

14) Nation status

Displays the type of nation you are such as “civil rights” “Economy” “political”. As said prior issues influence the way your region is.

15) Flag

You can choose a flag from a real nation or make your own… when you don’t choose any flag then you automatically hold an “aboriginal flag” which obviously indicates the aussie influence from Max Barry.
