A CK/EU/Vicky MegaSuperAmaze Succession Megacampaign?

So, I've been having a lot of withdrawl from these games lately, and I've been thinking of doing a megacampaign. Solo, I thought a first, but then I figured...why not let other people in on it? You know, like the succession game we attempted before people gave up on it. Figured I'd gauge for interest.

The Problem:
Doing a megacampaign is tricky. It requires 3rd-party converters (unless you feel like doing things by hand) and the files such converters output often need edited so as to work better in the next game. The big issue is deciding whether to start in CK2 or EU3/4, due to a lack of working converters.

At first, I was thinking such a thing would go CK2 > EU3 > Vic2...but then I remembered that most people here who would be interested in such a thing either don't have EU3, or don't have all the expansions, severely limiting options. Not only that, but the "Rajas of India" update for CK2 broke all the CK2>EU3 converters, including Idhrendur's (who has stated he won't fix that issue due to him working on the EU4>Vic2 Converter), and while one could eventually get it to work again, that takes a lot more time and effort than I personally care to spend.

We could bypass that problem by using Paradox's CK2>EU4 converter, but that has its own issues like it being generally worse than EU3. Since that converter outputs an entire mod folder instead of just a save file, I don't know if the save can be brought to Vicky 2 without extensive editing of either the converter or the save, both of which take time. Not only that, but there currently is no working, fully-featured version of an EU4>Vic2 converter, unlike EU3's which is basically complete...which is why I was hoping to use it.

Of course, we could skip all those problems by cutting CK2 out of the equation completely, starting in either EU3 or EU4. We still have the problem of no EU4>Vic2 converter, but at least we wouldn't have the issue of getting too powerful too quickly (because CK2 may be fun, but it's stupidly easy) and thus having nothing to do in Vicky other than sit and wait to win. And that's no fun.

Honestly, I don't know which scenario I prefer, and I'm really open to discussion and suggestions.

The Rules:
In any playthrough, I like to set certain rules for myself, to make the game harder and more interesting/fun. This is no different, and if anyone wants to join in on the succession, my rules for the playthrough would be as follows:

  • Must start as a monarchy.
  • If starting in EU3/4, must start as an OPM or a vassal (best is OPM vassal); if starting in CK, must start as single-province count.
  • The family must maintain the throne at all times and losing the throne by any means at any time signals a "game over" and end of the playthrough; this does not apply if the throne is lost to another branch of the family

I think I had more on my mind, but I forgot them. I'll add more as I think of them, or as people suggest some good ones.

Anyway, any thoughts? Any sacrifices volunteers?

Sorry but count me out. EU3 is brain achingly bad to look at without the graphics improvement expansion and I don't have the money (or wish, since I'd never play it) to shell out for it >.>

I have eu3 and all its expansions though I don't have it downloaded. That could be rectified however

Oh please, EU3 looks no worse than Vic2. Or maybe I've just been playing or so long that I don't notice any difference. :P

But really, we could use EU4. We could start CK2>EU4>Vic2, because the converter is being worked on and might be ready (or ready enough?) by the time we need it. I'm still apprehensive about a CK2 start, though, given that...well...like I said, it's incredibly easy, and being too large is no fun for the later bits.

Of course, that's why starting as a one-province count is a thing. :P

Speaking of, when should we start, CK2 or EU4? Who should we start as?

honestly, going from a full game of EU to vicky could result in some huge empires too... so it has the potential to be lame anyway :P

starting in ck2 does have the potential to compound the problem... It would be better if we played as a part of the holy roman empire, since that gets chopped up into bits upon entry into eu4, so being holy roman emperor wouldnt be so bad, even if we had a gigantor hre.
