Conservatives form Coalition with Prosperitas after election Victory!

Posted Image
NEW PM: HAROLD HAWTHORNE

22:04 - 5th December 2026

ELECTIONS 2026 - The thrilling conclusion to the 2026 Parliamentary elections came tonight after Conservative Party sources leaked the news that a Coalition deal had been done with Prosperitas after an election delivered the Conservatives with a majority of four in the People's Chamber but short of a majority by 3 seats in the Senate.

Conservative Party Leader Harold Hawthorne had been leading the opinion polls as the most likely Prime Minister since 2024 when it was revealed that senior Social Democrat officials had been abusing their posts with allegations including acceptance of bribes, manipulating the cabinet, replacing state advisors with friends and family and abuse of expenses.

The Conservative Party won a total of 305 seats out of the 700 directly elected seats available, alongside the additional winner's bonus in the People's Chamber giving him 405 and the right to govern Aurentina as the next Prime Minister. However, falling short of the fabled 38% of the vote required to guarantee a majority in the Senate the Conservatives managed to poll 34.2% of the vote and gaining 35 seats in the Senate as a result.

The Junior Partner of this Coalition, Prosperitas has been in Coalition with the Social Democrats for 6 years came third place in the elections after losing 64 seats but remains above the 100 seat mark with just 116 seats in the People's Chamber. Compared to the Conservatives who gained 100 seats in the election, the result for Prosperitas was bleak and the first time that being a Junior Member of a Coalition resulted in a loss of seats.

Prosperitas Leader, and newly tipped Deputy-Prime Minister, Catherine Nixon commented on the leaks earlier to Aurentina Today. She stated that it was true that Prosperitas would be forming with a Coalition with the Conservatives, when asked by one of our reporters whether it would be easy to govern with the Conservatives after their new partner spent six years criticising their record she responded calmly stating "We've been in Coalition with the Conservatives before between 2014 and 2020, we have been able to work with them before and we shall be able to do so again".

When we asked the Prosperitas Leader if she had managed to secure some key pledges of the Prosperitas Manifesto into the Coalition agreement, she was optimistic and said that "we have managed to guarantee major parts of our manifesto are implemented in government, ranging from taxation to our biggest promise a Basic Income Guarantee"

Conservative Sources denied that a Basic Income Guarantee was a set-in-stone policy, and instead argued that the Basic Income Guarantee would be the result of a Referendum

Both the Conservative Party and Prosperitas unveiled the Coalition Agreement simultaneously just half an hour ago which has confirmed that there is to be a Referendum on the Basic Income Guarantee and some more controversial policies including a Same-Sex Marriage Bill, Hospital and GP Charges, Privatisation of the Rail Network and a wide ranging consultation into the narcotic laws of Aurentina.

Acting Leader of the Social Democrats, Richard Milton MP has released a press statement saying that the Coalition Agreement was a "one way street down to further inequality" and that whilst the Social Democrats accepted defeat at the Parliamentary Elections they would "oppose the Coalition as much as possible.

Expect an Article from AurentinaToday soon looking at who won what in the Coalition Agreement

BREAKING NEWS: Aurentine Pilot missing in Abere - Prime Minister confirms pilot was "enforcing the No-Fly Zone"

Posted Image
We have received early reports that an Aurentine Pilot has lost contact and has gone missing following the enforcement of the No-Fly Zone, government sources have not named the pilot but have said that it must be "realistic" to "prepare for the worst".

09:21 - 8th April 2028

ABERE CRISIS - The Abere crisis stepped up a gear today after it has emerged that an Aurentine Pilot, who we have been informed was enforcing the No-Fly Zone, has gone missing in action. The details we have on the situation are vague at the moment, but from what we do know that the pilot is from Aurentina and had been flying over Aberian airspace at the time.

The Prime Minister said that if "the worst possible outcome" was the real one, he would re-consider Abere operations and the role of Aurentina in the conflict.

We'll bring you more as we know

BREAKING NEWS: Prime Minister withdraws Aurentine Troops from No-Fly Zone - Investigation ordered on Missing Pilot

Posted Image
The Prime Minister and Secretary of Defence has ordered that all Aurentine troops withdraw from the Abere Blockade, a further investigation was launched on the events leading up to the disappearance of the Aurentine Pilot. The Prime Minister also promised to lobby the Aberian Government to fully comply.

10:23 - 8th April 2028

ABERE CRISIS - "Aurentine involvement has come to an end" and it was clear that the Prime Minister did not want to have to withdraw forces so suddenly, however it appeared that further concerns for the safety of Aurentine pilots became the main priority.

The Prime Minister urged all parties to come together and negotiate a peace deal, with a real roadmap for a peaceful future between all involved. He also announced that the government was launching a full investigation into the disappearance of the Aurentine pilot and that there would be definitive answers once the investigation was complete.

The Leader of the Opposition criticised the government's handling of the No-Fly zone saying that "whilst good in principle, the government was mishandling the disappearance of the Pilot and urged the government to consider wide sanctions against those responsible".

The government may well have to act in a harsher tone than before if it is discovered that the pilot has been harmed or if Abere and any other Coalition member was not willing to assist with the investigation.

Government announces Free-Trade Agreement deal with Jandrea

Posted Image
The Aurentine Government has expanded their recent expansion of free trade into Caprecian markets using a very similar deal to the deal agreed with Goldecia which seems to have been the baseline for all deals pursued by the government. The deal has been achieved with Jandrea, who the Prime Minister has said would be an "ever-important trade partner".

16:21 - 13th April 2028

FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS - Another deal has been signed, this time only within weeks of the deal agreed with Carpathia. However, the deal with Jandrea has been seen as significant by the government as it's the first expansion of Aurentine Free Trade into Caprecia. Something which the PM has said he is "keen to replicate" with other Caprecian nations. The deal itself has already been signed by government officials, meaning no official ceremony will take place.

The announcement of the Free-Trade Deal between Aurentina and Jandrea focused on key parts, which can be seen below:

> Remove Tariffs between Aurentina & Jandrea on all goods
> Extended Visa's for Business owners and entrepreneurs from Aurentina & Jandrea
> Allow highly skilled workers from both nations to reside in the other longer
> Visa Quota of 5500 for Aurentine and Jandrean citizens to be fast-tracked via the FTA
> Three Month Trial Period for Aurentine and Jandrean citizens to work in the other nation without Work Permit's or Visa's
> Higher Competitiveness by expanding our markets to allow the flow of goods and services to be easier between our countries and investment between Aurentine and Jandrean companies
> Allow Aurentine workers to work in Aurentine companies with fast-tracked work permits and likewise the other way

The Government has announced that there are "other free trade deals" currently in the pipeline and that it will announce them once an agreement has been reached with other participants.

Votes at 16 Act becomes Law

Posted Image
The Senate has approved the Votes at 16 Act, an Opposition Bill put forward by the Social Democrats, and has therefore become law with just over a year to go before the 2029 national elections.

11:29 - 17th April 2028

VOTES AT 16 - A Coalition of Conservatives, Social Democrats, Prosperitas, Liberal and Green Senators have voted to approve the Votes at 16 Act in the third vote, therefore passing the proposal into law. The Votes at 16 Act lowers the voting age from 18 to 16 for all future elections beginning with the 2029 National Election where there will be many new voters which will make the election all the more interesting to watch.

The Government agreed to allow a free vote at all stages of the legislation regarding the Votes at 16 Act, therefore some dissenting Conservatives allowed the legislation to make it's way through the People's Chamber. The Prime Minister released a statement today saying that "Our Parliament has spoken, Parliament is sovereign" and that the government would fully comply with the legislation.

Many Commentators have been quick to argue that the reduction in the voting age could lead to a boost in some parties at the ballot box, if so then we could see shares of the vote in the next election being an interesting statistic.

The key features of the new plans can be found below:

  • Grading shall now range from 1 to 9
  • All Students shall sit the same examination paper instead of combinations of examinations and controlled assessments, however shall receive a different qualification based on their grade.

The Council of Ministers welcomed the reforms, however expressed concerns that new powers can be requested from the Devolution Act for Education Provision would now be universally declined in favour of the government reforms.

The Social Democrats have not commented yet on the proposals, however have said they will evaluate the proposals in full detail before supporting or opposing them.

The Government will introduce the Education(Qualifications & Curriculum) Reform Act in the coming days.

Government announces Free-Trade Agreement deal with Detectatia

Posted Image
In what seems to be the final Free-Trade deal in the diet of Aurentine deals in recent month, the Aurentine government announced a new deal with Detectatia a similar nation in regards to economics and principles.

19:23 - 28th April 2028

FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS - The Government announced what looks to be the final free-trade agreement for now, with the announcement of the free-trade agreement with Detectatia as a "key partnership" in market expansion promoting Liberty, Free Markets and the right of all to work freely. Seen by some as one of the loosest Free-Trade agreements agreed by the government in recent months

Constitution Act & Supreme Court Act narrowly pass Third vote in People's Chamber

Posted Image
Enough Conservative MP's have backed a Social Democrat-Prosperitas proposal for a Constitution Act and subsequently the introduction of a Supreme Court. Conservative Prime Minister Harold Hawthorne called the legislation a "blatant attack on Aurentine Democracy" stating that if passed there would be "serious repercussions for the Coalition".

13:28 - 1st Vernil 2028

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW - 404-396 is the margin of which the Constitution Act and the Supreme Court Act received in it's third and final vote in the People's Chamber, the last chance for the Conservative Leadership to effectively block the proposals before reaching the Senate where the Conservatives do not have the majority to block the proposals.

The Constitution Act, a joint proposal from the Social Democrats and Prosperitas would seek to "tag" individual pieces of legislation together as Constitutional Law therefore elevating it above normal pieces of legislation. The Constitution Act would then have a subsequent process for tagging or untagging pieces of legislation in addition to the Constitution Act, meaning that instead of passing a Constitutional Amendment all would be required would be for legislation to be passed and then "tagged" to the Constitution Act by an amending vote which would require the support of 2/3 of the People's Chamber and 2/3 of the Senate to be successful.

Whilst there are no provisions for legislation that is to be "tagged" being approved by referendum, the Social Democrats have pledged that if in future governments it seeks to "tag" legislation it will hold a referendum before doing so to ensure there is support for such measures.

The Prime Minister, after the vote, said to Aurentina Today that the proposals were a "blatant attack on Aurentine Democracy" and that if the legislation was not stopped by the Senate or withdrawn that there would be "serious repercussions for the Coalition". Some Commentators have indicated that the Prime Minister could be considering either "breaking the Coalition", "pulling Prosperitas backed policies from the legislative schedule" and/or "replacing key Prosperitas cabinet members".

Any of those measures would be a harsh reaction from the Conservatives, the first could lead to the government even falling if it failed a vote of no confidence in both chambers whilst the second could see tensions flare between the Conservatives and Prosperitas yet keep the Coalition in tact whilst the third would likely outrage some Prosperitas MP's and Senators.

Emily Marsden, the Leader of the Opposition said the reaction from the Prime Minister was "typical" and that the Conservatives would be on the "wrong side of history" if it continues to push against the proposals. Prosperitas has not released any official statement but the Deputy-Prime Minister Elizabeth Nixon announced that she would seek to "speak with the Prime Minister" before any decision was made on the future of the Coalition.

BREAKING NEWS: Deputy-Prime Minister resigns as Cabinet Member and Leader of Prosperitas

Posted Image
Elizabeth Nixon, Former-Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of Prosperitas has resigned from the posts of D-PM and Party Leader with around a month to go till her firstborn child is born. She has however said she would stay an MP at least the 2029 Election

15:32 - 1st June 2028

CABINET - The Deputy-Prime Minister did what many had been expecting for months, she resigned as Deputy-Prime Minister and as the Leader of Prospritas pending the birth of her firstborn child expected in July. She did not name her preferred successor as either Leader of Prosperitas or as Deputy-Prime Minister, however the Deputy Leader of Prosperitas Michael Brown has been named Temporary Leader and as the new Deputy-Prime Minister until a new leader of Prosperitas is found.

Elizabeth Nixon said she was "overwhelmingly proud" of what Prosperitas was achieving in government and had shown that whilst some voters had grown "weary" of Prosperitas' role in successive governments that it was delivering it's "fundamental promises" such as the Basic Income Guarantee and a Constitution Act which looks set to pass the Senate tomorrow in it's third and final vote despite attempts from the Conservative leadership to block it.

The Prime Minister was the first to comment on the resignation of Elizabeth Nixon as a "huge loss to the Government" whilst wishing her "every luck in the future". Sources suggest that Elizabeth Nixon has not decided if she will stand as an MP in the 2029 General Election however in the meantime she will "continue to support the government" from the backbenches.

Prosperitas has confirmed that it will begin looking for a new leader in time for the 2029 election, promising a "new front" to lead the campaign in 2029 where many expect Prosperitas to either lose seats or gain a few following fluctuating opinion polls showing that voters were "unsure on the role of Prosperitas in government".

Aurentina signs "The Rights of the Oracian Child Treaty"

Posted Image
Aurentine Diplomats, working on an international treaty for the last few years, published a treaty titled The Rights of the Oracian Child to focus on the individual liberties afforded to children and the willingness of each state to supply them. The Prime Minister Harold Hawthorne signed the treaty today citing it as "an important achievement for children worldwide".

16:49 - 1st June 2028

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS - The Prime Minister hailed the publication of "The Rights of the Oracian Child" as an "important step" towards a "global-standard" for child protection. It is widely expected that the Government will seek to ratify the treaty into full national law by a vote in Parliament in the coming weeks, the Leader of the Opposition pledged her full support to the treaty being passed into national law making it look certain that treaty will become law.

Aurentina was not the only nation to sign the treaty today as Carpathia & Moldova, Monroe and Goldecia have also signed the treaty. The Government said that it hoped that other nations would "follow on" and that they would co-operate with other signatories on the issues that the treaty seeks to address.

Constitution Act & Supreme Court Act passed by the Senate - Prime Minister "disappointed yet respectful"

Posted Image
The Senate passed the Constitution Act and the Supreme Court Act today despite attempts by the Conservative leadership to derail and/or block the legislation in the People's Chamber and the Senate however rebellion from some backbench Conservatives enabled the proposals to become law despite officially opposing the policies.

12:32 - 2nd June 2028

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW - The Constitution Act and the Supreme Court Act have been seen as "the most important piece of legislation in our history" as suggested by some Prosperitas members, instead of a written or unwritten Constitution politicians have opted for a Constitution Act which shall "tag" pieces of legislation to the Constitution Act as "fundamental/constitutional law" therefore elevating it above ordinary legislation. The Supreme Court Act however introduces a more powerful Supreme Court that is able to strike down pieces of legislation that go against the Constitution Act and/or are not in the national interest.

The Constitution Act shall require 2/3 of MP's and Senators to propose new pieces of legislation to be tagged to it, therefore requiring cross-party support for any future additions whilst the process of "untagging" would also require 2/3 of MP's and Senators to vote in favour of removing the legislation from the Constitution Act. Whilst the Constitution Act does not make provision for referendums on legislation to be tagged, the Social Democrats and Prosperitas have pledged to ensure any legislation they wish to have tagged shall receive a mandate from the Aurentine people either through manifesto commitments or referendums whenever necessary.

Some of the legislation "fundamentally tagged" to the Constitution Act include:
  • Parliament Act - Recognises the existence of Parliament, it's powers and role.
  • The Referendum Act & Subsequent Amendments - Mandates all Referendums with above 60% turnout be binding
  • Supreme Court Act - Establishes the newly powered Supreme Court
  • Devolution Act - Allows Regional Assemblies to request powers to be devolved
  • Citizen's Charter of Rights and Responsibilities - Sets out the rights and freedoms of citizens alongside expected responsibilities

The Supreme Court Act however set's out the following vision:
  • The Supreme Court would be composed of Five Justices nominated by an Independent Judicial Appointments Commission and approved by the People's Chamber and Senate with supermajorities
  • Justices would be granted a life term and would be able to resign if they wished
  • Justices would be required to swear an oath of impartiality before beginning to hear every case, with any Justices with a connection to the case in any form must declare and remove themselves from the bench
  • The Supreme Court would be required to judge the values and morals of legislation passed by Parliament and strike down legislation if it is incompatible with previous legislation and/or legislation that has been tagged to the Constitution Act
  • The Supreme Court will be able to interpret legislation in it's own manner and clarify the law and it's implications and directions

The Prime Minister has reportedly prepared plans to "punish Prosperitas" for supporting the proposals, including the blocking of a piece of legislation to enable a referendum on possible voting systems and is reportedly considering replacing some Prosperitas briefs in the cabinet with Conservatives.

Acting Leader of Prosperitas Michael Brown said that the legislation was "fundamental for the future of Aurentina" and that the response from the Prime Minister was "not that much of a concern".

Commentators predict that the Independent Judicial Appointments Commission will put forward five names in the next couple of months following a "nation-wide search for the most respectful judges". Commentators further expect that the Conservatives will seek to support "compromise candidates" that have a "respect for the will of Parliament" and "won't undermine the legitimacy of elected representatives".
