Conservatives form Coalition with Prosperitas after election Victory!

Posted Image
NEW PM: HAROLD HAWTHORNE

22:04 - 5th December 2026

ELECTIONS 2026 - The thrilling conclusion to the 2026 Parliamentary elections came tonight after Conservative Party sources leaked the news that a Coalition deal had been done with Prosperitas after an election delivered the Conservatives with a majority of four in the People's Chamber but short of a majority by 3 seats in the Senate.

Conservative Party Leader Harold Hawthorne had been leading the opinion polls as the most likely Prime Minister since 2024 when it was revealed that senior Social Democrat officials had been abusing their posts with allegations including acceptance of bribes, manipulating the cabinet, replacing state advisors with friends and family and abuse of expenses.

The Conservative Party won a total of 305 seats out of the 700 directly elected seats available, alongside the additional winner's bonus in the People's Chamber giving him 405 and the right to govern Aurentina as the next Prime Minister. However, falling short of the fabled 38% of the vote required to guarantee a majority in the Senate the Conservatives managed to poll 34.2% of the vote and gaining 35 seats in the Senate as a result.

The Junior Partner of this Coalition, Prosperitas has been in Coalition with the Social Democrats for 6 years came third place in the elections after losing 64 seats but remains above the 100 seat mark with just 116 seats in the People's Chamber. Compared to the Conservatives who gained 100 seats in the election, the result for Prosperitas was bleak and the first time that being a Junior Member of a Coalition resulted in a loss of seats.

Prosperitas Leader, and newly tipped Deputy-Prime Minister, Catherine Nixon commented on the leaks earlier to Aurentina Today. She stated that it was true that Prosperitas would be forming with a Coalition with the Conservatives, when asked by one of our reporters whether it would be easy to govern with the Conservatives after their new partner spent six years criticising their record she responded calmly stating "We've been in Coalition with the Conservatives before between 2014 and 2020, we have been able to work with them before and we shall be able to do so again".

When we asked the Prosperitas Leader if she had managed to secure some key pledges of the Prosperitas Manifesto into the Coalition agreement, she was optimistic and said that "we have managed to guarantee major parts of our manifesto are implemented in government, ranging from taxation to our biggest promise a Basic Income Guarantee"

Conservative Sources denied that a Basic Income Guarantee was a set-in-stone policy, and instead argued that the Basic Income Guarantee would be the result of a Referendum

Both the Conservative Party and Prosperitas unveiled the Coalition Agreement simultaneously just half an hour ago which has confirmed that there is to be a Referendum on the Basic Income Guarantee and some more controversial policies including a Same-Sex Marriage Bill, Hospital and GP Charges, Privatisation of the Rail Network and a wide ranging consultation into the narcotic laws of Aurentina.

Acting Leader of the Social Democrats, Richard Milton MP has released a press statement saying that the Coalition Agreement was a "one way street down to further inequality" and that whilst the Social Democrats accepted defeat at the Parliamentary Elections they would "oppose the Coalition as much as possible.

Prime Minister predicts 2029 Election will be "historical"

Posted Image
The Prime Minister Harold Hawthorne has predicted to a group of Conservative supporters that the 2029 Election in November will be "historical" following polls indicating that the Conservative Party is on track to win majorities in both the People's Chamber and the Senate a feat which has not been achieved for nearly sixty years.

15:34 - 12th March 2029

VOTE 2029 - The Prime Minister has expressed confidence in the Conservative Party for the upcoming election, he is not speaking about the composition of any future coalition and he is certainly not preparing for negotiations and haggling with Prosperitas or other smaller parties. The reason for this, is that all the polls are predicting that the Conservative Party will be the first party in nearly sixty years to win majorities in both the People's Chamber and the Senate.

We can expect a more "pure" manifesto from the Conservatives this year with no policies being diluted and more ambitious policies than we've seen for decades. The last majority government was also composed by the Conservatives and it looks like Harold Hawthorne will make history as the first Prime Minister in the era of Aurentine Coalitions to govern alone.

In a discussion to Conservative supporters the Prime Minister indicated that the current Coalition would govern up until a new government was formed, disregarding claims from commentators and some Conservative members that the Conservative Party should split from Prosperitas in the months before the election to allow for "differentiation" in the electoral campaign.

On this topic the Prime Minister said the following;

"I think it is fairly obvious that the Conservative Party is different from Prosperitas, we support very different things and have very different visions for Aurentina. However, in 2026 the people did not give us a majority in both the People's Chamber and the Senate therefore we had and still do not have any specific mandate to govern alone therefore until we are granted that mandate we should not and will not govern alone."

With months to go till the election and only weeks to go until Manifesto's will begin to be announced, this conversation with Conservative supporters represents the beginning of an election campaign which will be setting the spotlight on the Conservative Party and the Prime Minister as the ones with the biggest to lose but also an even bigger victory in view.

What is certain however is that the 2029 election will be crucial for the Social Democrats, who are seemingly becoming more and more distant from government than ever before.

Social Democrats face "fight for survival" says Emily Marsden

Posted Image
The Leader of the Opposition is facing pressure from narrowing polls between Social Democrats and Prosperitas to be the second largest party in Parliament.

11:23 - 18th March 2029

VOTE 2029 - The Social Democrats are going to have to "fight for survival" is what the Leader of the Opposition Emily Marsden has said in a speech today following polls narrowing indicating that the Social Democrats could face becoming the third largest party in Parliament which would be the first time a major political party has not formed the government or official Opposition.

Emily Marsden is facing criticism from internal party members who argue that her "refusal" to adapt to the changing political ground regarding taxation and economic direction and that she is leading the Social Democrats to "third-party status" which could see the Social Democrats reach their lowest levels of support in history.

Despite the Leader of the Opposition persistently challenging the Prime Minister, attacking when necessary the Social Democrats have not been able to increase their ratings as Prosperitas recovers from their bruising in 2026 following the defeat of the Social Democrat-Prosperitas Coalition in the polls.

Emily Marsden has insisted that the Social Democrats must "retain their real identity" as a "progressive force for the people" and that failing to challenge the Conservative's in some areas of policy would see them become the "guardians of the Conservative order". She promised that the Social Democrat Manifesto would be "costed, sensible and progressive in nature" however would not commit to a cut in the rate of FairTax as being advocated by the Prime Minister.

The earliest date for the release of Manifesto's is midday on the 10th April 2029 where we predict that the Conservatives, Social Democrats and Prosperitas will release their election manifesto's in the run up for the election in November which has been dated for the 1st November by The Electoral Commission.

Social Democrats call for final franchise bidding to be "suspended" till after the election

Posted Image
The Social Democrats have called for the Government to re-consider it's approach to continue with the privatisation of the final railway franchises available before the General Election which is due to take place later this year, the Government has previously stated that it would bring the bidding forward in the year to avoid election clashes.

18:34 -25th March 2029

RAILWAY FRANCHISING - "Halt the auction" is in effect what the Social Democrats have called for regarding the final railway lines to be franchised in the government's plan for privatisation of the railways. The Social Democrats, who opposed the legislation introducing the franchising, said that it was "far too close to the election" and that the government should not make a rushed and rash decision in an attempt to "complete the privatisation agenda" before the election.

The Government has already stated that the bidding process would be brought forward and that the franchise agreements would be announced "in advance" of the General Election, however the Department of Transport released a statement in response saying that it would "consider the arguments" and "act in the best interests of passengers" regarding whether it would be appropriate to hold bidding so close to the election.

In a private report, publically released today by the DoT, has revealed that the Railway regulator the Office for Railway Regulation & Services recommended three courses of action to the government regarding the final franchises as "perfectly reasonable courses of action" you can find extracts of the report below;

  • 1: The Government continue to go ahead with the original timetable for railway franchising, similar to the process used in 2027 and 2028 with winning bids announced in November, however indicating that a change of government could cause problems of integrity with different political perspectives on railway franchising.
  • 2: The Government bring forward the timetable for railway franchising in 2029, ahead of the General Election to avoid any clash with voting and campaigning, we recommend that the process begin early May and conclude in August to ensure smooth transitional agreement to avoid the election.
  • 3: The Government delay the timetable for railway franchising till after the General Election, recommending bidding to begin early 2030 and conclude mid-2030 however we note that legislation would need to be amended to allow flexibility in this matter.

The Department of Transport stated that the Government would had agreed that Option 2 was the best possible action however "had not yet agreed on specific dates" noting that the recommendations of the regulator was wholly a recommendation and that the process can begin any time as long as it is concluded by 2030 as set out by law.

It is expected that the Social Democrats will motion in Parliament to suspend the process till 2030 citing an "uncertain political landscape" following the General Election. Commentators indicate that the Social Democrats believe they may be able to win the General Election thus they would want to ensure there is no bidding process for the final franchises which would be in line with a draft policy leaked earlier this year stating that the Social Democrats would not "strip won franchises away" but would "prevent further franchises being sold" and "legislate to prevent renewal of agreements".

Prosperitas promises "unique" Manifesto

Posted Image
Prosperitas has pledged that it's manifesto for the 2029 General Election will be "unique" and will propose radical reforms coupled with responsible spending, including commitments to deliver a surplus every year until 2032.

12:34 -1st April 2029

VOTE 2029 - With Manifesto publication coming this month, Prosperitas has promised that it's manifesto will be "unique" yet clearly a manifesto for "radical reform and sensible governance" indicating further political reform will also be coupled with new financial and tax policies.

The publication of the Prosperitas Manifesto will be the beginning of the road to distinguishing themselves from the Conservatives, whom they have served in Coalition with since November 2026. Prosperitas has had a tough history regarding de-coupling, seeing as it has been the Junior Member of every Coalition since 2014 it has had to split itself away from both the Conservatives and Social Democrats in attempts to show they do not lean to either side more than the other to attract middle ground voters.

This year however, Prosperitas inside sources have indicated that the Manifesto will be pushing serious reform going far beyond the Coalition Agreement however have remained tight-lipped on FairTax/other Taxation policy leading to some to speculate whether Prosperitas will commit to either a FairTax rate cut or rise in an attempt to distinguish itself. Prosperitas has also re-affirmed their commitment to various agreements with the Conservatives over the phasing out of the Healthcare Access Charges over five years from 2029 and the full implementation and delivery of the new Aurentine National Certificate (ANC's) Qualifications in what it hopes to show as a sign that it is willing to be a "responsible actor of government".

The Prosperitas leadership is facing calls from internal party members to "toot the horn louder" for the achievements of the Coalition from Propseritas policy and other policies that have had a positive effect including the Basic Income Guarantee, Supreme Court, Constitution Act, National Health Service efficiency reforms and the Devolution Act. Members are also urging the party leadership to call out government policies that it "swallowed a bitter pill for" in an attempt to show where they have not agreed with the Conservative's yet gone ahead with the legislation such as legislation for private prison ownership, mass railway franchising and the sweeping axe of Conservative spending cuts insisting that Prosperitas offer a "different vision" for public finances, it's collection and spending commitments that do not require consecutive budget cuts in the billions.

Current polls indicate that Prosperitas could form the Official Opposition this November if the Social Democrats lose the majority of the seats that they hold with small, slim or near enough non-existent majorities in following the 2026 election.

Devolution Package consideration "unacceptable" - Blackford Independence Party

Posted Image
The Blackford Independence Party has demanded an explanation from the National Government and the Speaker of the People's Chamber as to why Devolution Packages for Regional Assemblies have not yet passed to the Senate despite being in the legislative schedule for nearly a year.

15:47 -5th April 2029

DEVOLUTION - The Blackford Independence Party has written to the Prime Minister and Speaker of the People's Chamber to demand explanation as to why the Devolution packages submitted by Regional Assemblies are still not past the People's Chamber despite being in the legislative schedule for roughly a year.

We can reveal extracts of the letter below:

  • "We believe the lack of progress is disturbing in nature and is becoming hard to understand even with expert analysis"
  • "The National Parliament has seemingly stalled in the delivery of the Devolution packages"
  • "We must insist swift progress and an immediate investigation into this blatant stalling tactics from the Government, we believe this is an unacceptable abuse of power and is a compelling reason to support the Independence of Blackford and other regions"

The Speaker of the People's Chamber has responded to the letter saying that the process set out by the Devolution Act was "long, specific and inefficient" stating that motion votes must be held on every single line of the proposals and that parliamentary time was simple not long enough to go through the Devolution packages at speed alongside other legislation that is scheduled for debate and votes.

The Speaker went further as to call for an amendment to the Devolution Act to reform the process, however Senior Conservatives have rebuffed the call stating that the current process was "important to ensure a sensible balance of power transferral from the National Parliament to Regional Assemblies" and that there were parliamentary procedures to allow legislation to be carried over to the next session of Parliament after the 2029 election if needed.

The Prime Minister himself has not commented on the letter, however Senior Conservatives have dismissed the complaint as it being a case of the Blackford Independence Party being "impatient".

Election Special: Prime Minister explains "Triple-Tax Lock"

Posted Image
One of the key policies being promoted by the Conservative Party in their new election manifesto is the "Triple-Tax Lock". With there being no immediate example elsewhere in the world, Aurentina Today asked the Prime Minister to explain what the Triple-Tax Lock was, how it would operate and how it is in the best interests of citizens.

12:32 -21st April 2029

VOTE 2029 - Below you will find a statement from the Prime Minister in regards to the following question, "What is the triple-tax lock?, how would it work and how is it in the best interests of Aurentine Citizens?".

"The triple-tax lock is a commitment, a commitment to you, your children, your parents and even your boss. That commitment is that the Government will not increase the rate of FairTax without three criteria being met, the first being that the National Parliament approves a tax rate rise, secondly it must be agreed to by First Minister's on the Council of Ministers and thirdly it must be approved by a Public Referendum asking permission for any rise in the FairTax.

The FairTax as it stands is currently set at the rate of 30%, therefore every Aurentine Pound you spend will have an additional 30 pennies on top that is sent to the Government in tax. The Conservative Party has pledged to reduce this to 26% in the next parliament, our triple-tax lock would prevent any future Government of any colour to take more money off you without your permission thus making the people the guardians of public finances.

The triple-tax lock would not however apply to any cuts in the rate of FairTax, our view is that consultation on a cut in the rate of FairTax is not required as it brings enormous benefits to all citizens in the form of lower prices for goods, less tax to pay on that new car and reducing our overall spending bill.

I have outlined how the triple-tax lock would work, however I have not gone into specific detail. Here is that detail, under the Tax Act and the Tax Code of Aurentina (2027) Act the government is responsible for the "setting and implementation of tax rates as deemed appropriate" whilst the National Parliament is responsible for the "approval and consent of the tax rates as implemented by the government".

We would seek to introduce new legislation that amends these provisions to facilitate a lock on Tax rises, and set out a process of approval including the Council of Minister's and by citizens via a public referendum.

In the National Parliament, once a tax change is proposed by the government, the same as happens currently will happen under a triple-tax lock. This is that both the People's Chamber and the Senate hold separate votes on the same rate, the approval of both chambers is required for the National Parliament to approve the tax rate change.

The Council of Minister's, composing of all the First Minister's of the Regional Executives and the Prime Minister of the day shall meet to debate and vote upon the proposal approved by Parliament. The Prime Minister, currently holds a veto on Council of Minister's vote decisions, in the case of the triple-tax lock will not have the authority to veto the result but will be able to cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie between the First Minister's.

Once this process has concluded, a Referendum bill which shall have been prepared by the Government during the time between the approval by the National Parliament and the Council of Minister's decision will be put forward to the National Parliament as required by law and will be compliant with the Referendum Act and all of it's amendments if existing. MP's and Senators will be compelled by law to ensure that the Referendum bill is approved swiftly, with full consent and with dignity.

Once approved, a vote would be scheduled where people would be given their say on the rate increase. For the tax rate rise to become law, it will require the backing of all three parts of the triple-tax lock thus will ensure that any tax rise is not done by stealth on the back of a manifesto, that politicians cannot lie to you about their Tax policy and that the FairTax will be even more transparent than it was before.

I urge you to back the Conservative's this November, to protect your taxes, to protect your future and to protect your country from those that seek to unravel the amazing things that we as a nation have done over the last three years."

Prime Minister slams "rushed" Carpathian sanctions

Posted Image
The Prime Minister has released a statement condemning moves from Carpathia to add Batavia to the "Axis of Evil" so swiftly, he has additionally stated that any condlict between Carpathia and Batavia would have "severe consequences" for everyone involved.

15:34 -25th Vernil 2029

BATAVIA-CARPATHIA - Harold Hawthorne has seemingly come into conflict once again with Carpathia as tensions between Carpathia and Batavia have escalated following recent disputes between the two sides. The Prime Minister has said that Aurentina will not tolerate "another damaging war" following the Abere Crisis, he further urged both sides to "step back and re-consider their actions".

The Prime Minister has never been overly sympathetic towards the actions of the Carpathian Government since being elected in 2026, with another election in the coming months he is keen to avoid a damaging conflict that could harm his own electoral chances despite successive polls indicating that the Conservative Party look set to become the first majority government wholly in nearly six decades.

Early into becoming Prime Minister the Carpathian Government issued visa restrictions to Aurentine Citizens following the victory of the Conservative Party and the release of the Coalition agreement slamming policies as "undemocratic" and "oppressive". Since this incident, the Prime Minister has been wary to support Carpathian military conflicts abroad most recently criticising Carpathia and Abere over their role to fail to negotiate before the Aberian Conflict escalated into full war.

Releasing his statement on the Batavia-Carpathia Troubles the Prime Minister said:

PM's Statement

In further questions from journalists, the Prime Minister stated that he would not back any military action against either Carpathia or Batavia but would use every diplomatic and economic tool at his disposal to try deescalate the conflict as soon as possible. When further asked if train franchises awarded to state owned Carpathian companies in Aurentina could face losing their contracts the Prime Minister stated that "every option remains on the table" however did not rule out such confiscation and use of the "hawkish laws" if the situation required it.

National Parliament passes Devolution Packages largely intact

Posted Image
With less than a month to go to the General Election, the National Parliament has finally approved Devolution Packages requested by regions under the Devolution Act however has rejected some regional requests most notably the power for Blackford to hold an Independence Referendum and to devolve any tax creating powers to any region.

22:34 - 18th Autumber 2029

DEVOLUTION - The National Parliament has finally got through the Devolution Packages requested by Regional Assemblies over a year ago, however it has not simply waved every package through it has instead opted to deliver a more general consensual regional devolution package to every region with no region getting more than the other. This has significantly infuriated the Blackford Independence Party, whom as Junior Coalition Member in a Conservative-led Blackford Coalition Executive, has expressed that it's support for the current Coalition was based on the assumption that "Blackford would get the power to decide it's future for itself when it wants to".

For Example, the original package requested by the Blackford Regional Assembly was the following;

  • Education Provision
  • Assembly Member Disqualification
  • International Trade
  • Broadcasting
  • Healthcare Provision
  • Tax Creation Powers
  • Transport (Excluding Railways)
  • Power to call a legally binding Independence Referendum via legislation when appropriate

The package that has been approved by the National Parliament and sent to the Blackford Regional Assembly to accept or reject is as follows:

  • Transport (Excluding Railways)
  • Local & Regional Broadcasting
  • Assembly Member Disqualification
  • Limited Healthcare Provision - Control over Non-Emergency procedures, GP's, Dental etc

Across the board, the National Parliament has generally granted every region that requested powers the ability to control transport in it's own region (the most significant) bar railways which shall remain under national control, Regional Broadcasting powers, Assembly Member Disqualification and some limited aspects of Healthcare or Education Provision but not both.

The Blackford Independence Party said the packages were an "absolute betrayal to Blackford and other regions" who were told that the Devolution Act would guarantee new "significant powers without excuse nor delay". The Conservative Party responded to the votes today saying that it would be announcing a new "substantial nationwide Devolution package" pertaining to the FairTax but said more details would be announced at the Leader's Debate currently scheduled for the night before the election which the Blackford Independence Party will not be present.

Prosperitas has pledged to loosen the Devolution Act to allow more reserved powers to become powers that can be requested such as Energy Generation, Environmental Protection and would, if elected, ensure every region was granted the power to create it's own taxation separate to the FairTax despite Parliament rejecting it this time around.

The Social Democrats have argued that they are the "natural party of Devolution" and would if elected reform the Council of Minister's to allow them to request powers be devolved directly to the Prime Minister instead of the "long and dramatic" process already used via the Devolution Act.

Whilst it is not clear whether the Conservative's proposals would require an amendment to the Devolution Act through the Constitution Act it is certain that for the pledges by Prosperitas and the Social Democrats to be achieved it would require the support of Conservative's which seems unlikely.

Devolution was ranked 6th on the AurentinaToday poll of most important issues for the election, you can see the poll results below;

1st: National Debt
2: FairTax
3: The Economy
4: Healthcare
5: Education
6: Devolution
7: Defence
8: Foreign Relations
9: Welfare & Pensions
10: Size of Government
