Wet Act Passes Through The Reichstag
By Heinrich Schwartz and Gregor Haus

The Reichstag building. It was dedicated by the Badenburg Historical Association as it was previously a pre-winter historical museum.

BADENBURG| The Wet Act passed the Reichstag with overwhelming support today, less than a day after being submitted. The Act is suspected to bring relief to many Deltorians after years of the country being "dry". The Wet Act recognizes the large illegal smuggling, manufacturing, selling, and consumption of alcohol and has finally made it legal.

As Chancellor Vorschlaghammer stated after news of the Act's passing, “Oh, yes, I am glad that this act has passed. For too long has alcohol been illegal when it is such a very humanly drink. People have drunken it for thousands of years and it is embedded in our culture. I for one can say that many things in this world would not exist if not for a man and his scotch; I know that I would not be your Chancellor.”

The Act does however bring a large tax onto alcohol. It is recognized that alcohol is a dangerous substance, and many thousands have been killed coldly by it. Legalization comes with responsibility. The tax has been set high to make the consumer think about his or her choice when buying alcohol. Part of the funds from the tax will be going to help the future victims of alcohol abuse.

The significance of the Wet Act does not stop with the legalization of alcohol, it represents the tearing down of the old regime. The old regime which imposed the ban in order to have more control over all of Deltorian lives. Today the country takes a step forward into a new progressive era where the walls and boundaries which once held the Deltorians back can now be torn down in preparation of a greater Reich.

Elections Finished, Changes to Come
By Karl Schultz and Adolf Schlotter

The new Deltiknationalisten Partei Chancellor Walter Aldrich Liedmann von Heisenburg.

BADENBURG| As we enter the new year, election results come in with surprising outcomes. Previously, the Reichstag was nearly completely dominated by the Deltiknationalisten Partei, however, the government now finds itself on a whole different planet. The DNP, or Deltiknationalisten Partei, have lost both their supermajority and majority. The largest change is with Die Linke, which has risen to challenge the DNP from its previous minority status.

With the DNP winning the Chancellory again, they face all new challenges in the young republic. Now the DNP Chancellory must work with a non-majority Reichstag. Paths will be less clearcut and true compromise politics will now begin to take hold in Deltoria.

Abroad, many nations are stunned by the outcome of the elections, though none more than Deltoria's curent allies. If Deltoria were to take on a Left majority in the Reichstag or Left Chancellor, the entire political landscape of Zaroca would change. A situation which would especially concern Deltoria's newest friend, Lanlania.

Deltoria also sees itself under the leadership of a new Chancellor, Heisenburg. With Vorschlaghammer declining to accept the DNP nomination, Heisenburg stepped up to find himself in an entirely different world. In his past he served as a soldier of the Deltorian military. After leaving the service, he began a much more colorful life in being both an actor and rockstar. However, since fascist Deltoria fell he has worked in politics for the DNP. Now the young Chancellor is at the helm of one of Caprecia's great powers and also a growing power. It is to be seen how the Chancellor will work with his Reichstag to achieve both his goals and his party's in the ever changing political landscape of Zaroca and Caprecia as a whole

Badenburg Burning, Communist Riots
By Horst Ehrmanntraut and Dieter Pritzl

Riot Police following mass trash burnings in the streets of Badenburg

BADENBURG| Tensions spilled out today in the streets surrounding the Reichstag as Deltic Communists rally against the coalition against communism. This coalition, although unofficial, serves to block communist ambitions in the Reichstag despite their continued support of other parties.

The riots featured much violence and ended with over a dozen injured. Some of such violence featured the throwing and launching of burning red flares at police and at the Reichstag itself. In addition to this, trash cans and trash within them were burned.

"We came out here today burning this trash because what our government is doing is trash. We want the same equality that every other Deltorian receives! Our government no longer discriminates against race, but instead it does it against us. I am and always will be a proud Deltorian Communist!" said protester Horst Eiser.

Sources also suggest that the riots may be supported by Die Linke, Deltoria's communist party. Party leaders deny any involvement with the riots, however. If evidence is found to the contrary, though, it could mean harsh consequences to the party possibly even resulting in its banning from the Reichstag.

Chancellor Responds to Carpathian Allegations
By Jon Rein and Gregor Haus
Published: 327, May 7

Walter Aldrich Liedmann von Heisenburg, Chancellor of the Deltorian Reich

BADENBURG| Today the Chancellor gave a speech in response to the threats and allegations made by the Carpathian government recently. The whole situation came about due to the communist riots a few weeks ago in our capital of Badenburg. As the Chancellor seemed to have said it, the Carpathians are mistaken.

"First of all I would like to point out that there was no 'brutal suppression' involved in the Badenburg Riots. The only brutality was done by the rioters, in fact. They threw burning objects, not only flares, at the police as they tried to keep the peace. It is, however, true and unfortunate that there were injuries on the side of the rioters. These injuries, however, were all taken on by rioters threatening the safety of civilians and police alike.

I would also like to point out that Deltoria is not taking on 'increasingly oppressive policies.' The riot was dealt with like any other riot would have been dealt with. There was no discrimination because it was a communist riot. Deltoria has moved past its oppressive past. In fact, this is one of the most liberal times in Deltorian history. My administration alone has overseen the passage of laws that just a decade ago would have been unimaginable. And such progression was being done even during the Vorschlaghammer administration.

My government does not discriminate against socialists or communists. What it does go against is political violence. If it is proved that Die Linke was involved in the Badenburg Riots, harsh consequences will fall upon them. Violence in order to incite political goals cannot and will not be tolerated in Deltoria because of our shameful past. What I can say, though, is that there has not been any evidence to show that Die Linke was involved in the riots."
