The International Oracian Olympic Committee

The First Summer Games

It's now that time. To allow us plenty of time to prepare for the actual games we will be opening bids for the Host of teh Summer Games. Use the same format used when bidding for the Winter Games. Depending on the amount of bids, the IOOC may eliminate some bids to prevent a large ballot for the actual voting.

The winner of the bid will work with the committee on developing the various themes that will be used for this particular game, which is why we are doing this now.

On a side note, sign ups for teams and atheletes will begin following the selection of the Host.

Thanks

Submitting a Bid:

Please include:
1. The name of your city, it's location and it's population.
2. Why should the city be chosen to host the games?
3. The history of the city?
4. Transportation, and tourist accomidation
5. Anything else you may deem relevant, please post.

Applications are due by the end of January.

Current Bids:
  • New Orleans - Angleterre
  • Ki'Tal City - So'Karsa
  • Badenburg - Deltoria
  • Cias - Mestra

APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE UNITED STATES OF ANGLETERRE FOR HOST OF SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

The City of New Orleans
Posted Image

The Angleterran National Olympic Committee has announced that the city of New Orleans has been chosen by the Committee to bid for the Host of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.

New Orleans, one of Angleterre's youngest cities, has quickly become an important post between the powerhouse cities of the Northern United States and the rapidly growing states of the South. Located in the center of the eastern state of Orleans, New Orleans, nicknamed the "Crescent City", holds a population of roughly under 250,000, the smallest major city in the United States. It hosts a international airport that serves as a connection point between the larger airports in Tristram, Caldeum, Byzantium, Harrogath, Sescheron, Dayton, Columbus and London, and several of the country's major highways and scenic routes pass through New Orleans and its suburbs. There are numerous hotels, inns and apartment complexes that can hold the many athletes from across the world dotted across New Orleans, especially in the "Global Quarter", where numerous cultural and social celebrations are held every month. The Global Quarter is also home to some of the finest restaurants and eateries in Angleterre, as the city is home to many of the country's culinary schools.

Founded when the United States was merely a year old in 277, New Orleans started as a trading town serving as a stopping point between commercial traders from Tristram and Byzantium heading south to the more agrarian South. Over time, New Orleans boomed into a major commercial and cultural center in the heart of Angleterre. Though the city could never get beyond the numbers it has now, it became vitally important, as the gateway between North and South. The New Orleans Superdome was built in 290, and it attracted many sporting events and celebrations. It was even enough for the United States Football League to award New Orleans its 16th franchise, which became the Saints. From the "Dome", the cultural explosion of New Orleans began, as it's influence even for a time began affecting events in the Original Three Cities of Angleterre, especially in Caldeum.

As of the time of the application, New Orleans has experienced a whirlwind of celebration, as the aforementioned New Orleans Saints have recently won the USFL's World Championship for the very first time. The ANOC would like to state that if New Orleans is chosen to host the Summer Olympics, despite the furor over the Winter Games, the Committee will do its best to help make the New Orleans Summer Games a standard for future Games.

Application of Behalf of the So'Karsan Republic for Host of the Summer Olympic Games

Ki'Tal City

Posted Image

The So'Karsan Olympic Committee has announced that it is backing Ki'Tal City, the capital of So'Karsa, as the host city for the Summer Olympic Games. We are supporting the city of Ki'Tal because of it's long history of being a city for refugees, colonials, tribesmen, and people of many different nations, creeds, and religions. It is a beacon of acceptance and what can happen when differences are put to good use.

Ki'Tal city is the largest city in So'Karsa with a population of 7,324,987 as well as being the capital of the nation. The city is well known for it's many districts, each having a unique architectural style and purpose, making the city seem very unique and alive no matter where you are. The city gets thousands of tourists per year and is well prepared for the influx of visitors likely to arrive for the olympics. Mass Transit is another fantastic aspect of Ki'Tal City with a fully functioning Subway system, Monorail System, and Bus System it's easy to get anywhere within the city.

The city has a long and unique history, having been founded by Zanaro in 89RE as a colony of the ancient nation. The city grew and blossomed as the unofficial capital of the colonies of Zanaro and became a beacon of Philosophy, Science, and Learning in Cardohesia. Thousands of Zanarite peoples lived in the city before it was conquered in 137RE, nearly fifty years after its founding. The city survived though and soon Zanarite and Cardohesian cultures began to mix and intertwine creating the first So'Karsan culture and civilization. Under the united Cardohesian and Zanarite rule the city grew nearly ten times its original size .

In 172RE Ki'Tal City became a democratic City-State having truly developed a unique blend of cultures. The architecture featured many tall spires, and buildings crafted with purpose. The people were united in there shared ideals of freedom and democracy making the City-State something truly unique in all of Cardohesia. In 183 Ki'Tal City raised an army in an attempt to unify the other city states into one nation, to better defend themselves from outside forces such as Zanaro, Castleon, and Ardorra. After Eight years of fighting and the decimation of the armies of the city-states the war ended in a stalemate. Many of the ancient walls and fortifications still stand from that war.

In 233RE Ki'Tal City was conquered by Zanaro returning it to Imperial Rule. While under the control of Zanaro the city was invested in greatly, including the renovation of Castle Ki'Tal, the development of improved farming techniques and equipment. Technology was greatly advanced within the city and it once again became a place of learning and the capital of the Zanarite colony. The Cardohesians were integrated into the Imperial society, leading to a highly disciplined and focused people.

In 283RE the Kroviun War began and Ki'Tal was dragged into it very early on by supporting Princess Lynn Kroviun's claim to the throne. She was a supporter of increased independence on the colonies as well as a supporter of increased democracy within the nation. In 284RE Ki'Tal City was besieged by Prince Mal's forces and eventually captured as a majority of the military had supported his claim to the throne. The city was partially rebuilt but overall ignored by the Prince. The city was involved in several other major battles before it, and the colony, was abandoned in 287RE.

As a newly independent City-State the people quickly united together to rebuild and form a new government. The city became the cultural and spiritual heart of the region, being a uniting city for the abandoned colonial lands. While there was no national government at the time there were cogs in motion that would lead to the formation of the So'Karsan Shadow government in 305RE. It was during this time that Prince Arcturus Kroviun arrived in the city and became one of the largest supporters of a unified So'Karsa, and wanted to ensure it was independent of foreign forces.

In 306RE So'Karsa was united under a new government with Prince Arcturus as the first Commander General. Ki'Tal City became the capital of the fledgling nation and massive construction projects were moved forward creating the massive Government District where Capital Tower now stands. The city has thrived, grown, and developed under the new nation and is a place where art, technology, religion, science, and politics are all readily discussed and developed. It is a city that has the unique So'Karsan culture as well as flares from several other cultures tied in.

At this time, 320RE, Ki'Tal city is celebrating the coming elections for Prime Minister, and Commander General, as well as preparing for the Annual Roc race that starts at the edge of the city. Come tour the city and let us show you our long history, and the signs of the greater future for it!

Application of Behalf of the Deltorian Reich for Host of the Summer Olympic Games

Badenburg

Posted Image

The Deltorian Olympic Committee has announced that Badenburg has been chosen by the Committee to bid for the Host of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.

The great city of Badenburg, often referred to as the "Jewel of Deltoria", is among Oracias great cities. Badenburg is a center for Deltorian and Deltic culture, an economic powerhouse, an industrial powerhouse, a naval center for Deltoria, the country's largest port, and its political capital. The city is also the largest city in the Caprecian hemisphere and third largest in the entire world with a growing population of 24,327,891. The city sprawls out across the Baden River on the west coast of Deltoria.

Badenburg would make an excellent host of the Summer games because of its many attractions and its superb transportation system including a subway system, several monorails, thousands of buses, and it is connected to more distant parts of Deltoria with Maglev Trains.

The city has a long and rich history beginning slightly more than 4000 years ago. Its ancient history, though, has faded into time with the many people that once occupied the city. What is known is that the city was once an independent trade republic which existed along side the feudal states of the Deltic. In these times the city was known as Port Thecious, named for the ancient name of the Caprecian Sea. It existed quite harmoniously with the feudal Deltic states until they were united under an Arbiter in what is known today as the First Deltorian Reich or Old Reich. The first Arbiter of the Old Reich conquered the city as his own and famously said, "This jewel on my crown, the very center one, that is Badenburg." The city would remain a very influential city throughout its time in the Old Reich. Its status even remained the same when the Old Reich fell.

Following the fall of the Old Reich, the city, which had come to be known as Port Caprecia at this time, found itself the controller of a large area of western Deltoria. It would grow and expand its territory until a royal marriage brought the lands under control of the Arbiter once more. As Deltoria and Caprecia moved into the pre-winter modern age the city was an outstanding cultural hub of not only Deltoria, but of the Deltic nations. Its significance once more grew with the establishment of the Second Deltorian Reich. For the first time in its history, the city had eclipsed the capital in its power as Deltoria controlled the Sherman and lagnian lands. The city would never become less than the capital either. In the years leading up to the Great Winter the city was one of the largest cities in Caprecia.

The Great Winter changed everything though. Deltoria was not hit by nukes, but it recieved substantial early fallout from Magilan, which had been scorched. Millions of Deltorians died and an inadequate bunker system in Badenburg caused many of the helpless to perish.

The history of Badenburg picks back up with the early recovery of Deltoria. The city was one of the fastest to be reestablished and made the right alliances in a post-winter short feudal era. Deltoria was formed once again and Port Caprecia's power, as it was still known by at the time, was already greater than that of the capital. As the other Caprecians reestablished themselves the city flourished with rich culture and reindustrialization.

The story of Badenburg, though, became a bit complicated in recent years. With fascist Deltoria leading the Iron Accord, Badenburg became a prime target to foreigners as it held the HQ of the alliance. The Arbiter, though, would manage to narrowly dodge all out war many times until the alliance ended. Though, the complications would continue with the suicide of Arbiter Josef Herschel. In the absence of a Herschel to succeed to the throne, the country came under rule of the Konsulate oligarchy who occupied the capital and Badenburg. The city's good luck, however, held strong and no fighting occured in it. With the return of a Herschel, the city took on more greatness with the Deltorian capital being moved to the city and its official name being changed to Badenburg.

Badenburg will make an excellent host city due to its many attractions, rich culture, historical sites, and endless places to explore and see. Its large superdome will also serve several of the competitions well.

Picture changed due to a building from it existing in Sainam.

Application on Behalf of the Mestran Olympics Committee for Host of the Summer Olympic Games

Cias, Mestra

Posted Image

The Mestran Olympics Committee announces that it has selected the city of Cias for the bid to host the Summer Olympics.

Cias, known as the Crescent City is the largest city in the Imperium at a population of 20,164,449 making the city the 6th largest in the world. Cias, which is situated on the mouth of the River I'vali and the Iandian Sea is the economic and financial hub of Mestra and is considered to be the most powerful and influential city in the Syntreal Sphere. Housing the Headquarters for the Syntrealite Alliance as well as the International Oracian Olympics Committee, Cias is a center for trade, commerce, and tourism. In recent years there has been a boom in growth not only in population but in construction as the city expands every outwards and upwards.

Cultural influences are heavy in Cias as it is the true melting pot of the nation. Cias is the primary gateway for immigration into the country, and maintains the largest trading port in Syntreal. This allows Cias to be diverse, cultured, and stable. The city houses hundreds of museums dedicated to everything imaginable, its cuisine is world renown with thousands of restaurants. The transportation network is a state-of-the-art subway system which utilizes a multi tier tunnel system allowing several different routes to access the same station, allowing the largest navigation across the city. Within the past few years the network for the city has been upgraded to allow easy access to the city, its subway systems, its buses and taxis and provide a great experience for tourists.

The city does not boast a single downtown location. The original Cias was built near the ruins of an ancient city that existed several millennium ago. Cias today is an icon for the North, and a testament to true economic might, as the saying goes "Build it for the appeal of the people" Cias has various cultural centers or ethnic downtown. These centers are micro communities in the grand scheme of Cias and represent various ethnic groups that have made their home in the city. These areas are all connected to the central network allowing easy access and all provide a look at the culture, the cuisine, and the way of life these people have built for themselves. A must sea for all tourists.

The city itself was founded 200 years after the Imperium was formed, and became the only trading port between I'balan and the lost brethren across the sea in Corali. As time progressed, the role of Cias as a trading city expanded with increased trade to the south, and eventually the city began housing major financial institutions. By the time Nicholas, the current emperor, took the throne Cias had become a testament to the enduring progress of the Mestran people.

Cias will make a fine host city for the Summer Games. Its access to the Sea is great for sailing, its river access is vital for rowing and various other outdoor sports. Land which is set aside for the development of the newest park in Cias will easily be used to build the Olympic Park, which will boast a new stadium and facilities build out of green materials and providing for the best accent to nature as possible. The thousands of hotels that are across the city can easily support the influx of tourists, and the transportation network connecting Cias to the rest of Mestra will provide quick albeit a short distant transportation to the Olympic Park.
