Nation Name: Medo-Kubanizan Empire Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy Economy Type: Capitalist Target Plot: Map: Zaroca, plot(s): EU12, EU13 Expansion Type: Civilized Informational Links: Factbook, Military, Map Rebel RPer: Will find one, this expansion is still being planned. When did your last Expansion end? November 25th, 2013 When was your last Military Conflict? We haven't actually been in any real military conflicts Why do you seek to expand? IC: The current King of Bourbon continues to follow the policies of the mad-man who sought to impoverish his own country, and create farms from factories essentially bringing his country back three hundred years. We would seek to place down the current, and dis-trusted government of Bourbon and restore Bourbon to it's former glory, and bring the people out of the slums. ALso because of the recent naval conflict in which Bourbon ships crossed their border into the Empires border without any confirmation. (To be written, as I said, still in the planning phase) OOC: Thought people would find it hilarious to take over my former nation hahaa. Plot:The Medo-Kubanizan Empire, disgusted with the current state of Bourbon economically, politically, and socially, has been simply waiting for an opportunity to do something about this declining state. Recently, as the child king of Bourbon reaches his teens, he makes some brash and quite boyish decisions. The king expands Bourbon’s air defense zone to include shipping lanes used by some Medo-Kubanizan companies. Though the shipping lanes are seldom used and by only a few companies, the Empire does not hesitate to press the issue.
After demanding that the air defense zone be reduced and refused, the Empire begins to deliberately run military aircraft through the disputed zone. Bourbon responds by ordering the planes to leave the disputed zone and after being ignored on several occasions, the Bourbonese air force shoots down an aircraft. The Empire responds by demanding once again that the air defense zone be reduced and that compensation be paid for the lost aircraft, the pilot’s family, and for lost shipping due to the dispute. After being refused, the Empire declares war.

As in, the young king is more or less a puppet of his court.

How about this:
The Medo-Kubanizan Empire, disgusted with the current state of Bourbon economically, politically, and socially, has been simply waiting for an opportunity to do something about this declining state. A freighter ship, supposedly owned by a Bourbonese company, is stopped forcibly and seized by the Medo-Kubanizan coast guard. The Empire claims that the ship was trespassing in imperial waters and refused orders to halt. The Empire also claims that the ship was carrying illegal weapons and drugs. The captain and crew, along with any and all passengers, are arrested and held in custody indefinitely. This leads to increased diplomatic tensions with Bourbon.
Then a Medo-Kubanizan ship is destroyed in a explosion off the coast of Bourbon, though no one knows the cause. The media and government in Medo-Kubaniza is quick to blame the Bourbonese government, or some Bourbonese radical group, for the incident. The Empire decides to embargo Bourbon and moves warships into the Urocan Strait to stop Bourbonese ships from leaving until the Bourbonese government pays compensation for the lost ship and crew. This leads to a naval confrontation between Bourbonese naval ships and the Imperial Navy. Soon afterwards the Empire declares war for “Bourbonese hostility.”

Is the ship that's destroyed off Bourbon military or civilian?

I honestly don't like this. Doesn't seem to serve much purpose beyond getting you guys a digger bick--even the RP seems like it'll be incredibly linear. But, I'll approve it provided you understand that Lanlania is incredibly likely to intervene. Depending on how things play out, its possible Medo-Kubaniza could gain little more than a coastal strip while the rest of Bourbon goes Commonwealth.
Plot, with my potential interventions:

[1] This has the potential to backfire in that we could examine the vessel's location via satellite and or simple through a ship tracking system in the region. Additionally, Lanlania recognizes 30 kilometers as the extent of a country's territorial waters (read: where you can enforce no-sail zones for foreign warships), and if the vessel's outside that distance...it'd only make your day worse. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more of a clusterfuck this situation could be. Such as, why is MKE trying to stop a commercial vessel in the first place? [2] We could pretty easily claim this is a fabrication, especially if MKE is known to have less-than-savory relations with Bourbon--totes a possibility if you're stopping their merchant ships. [3] And potentially much of the world as well, detaining foreign citizens on plausibly fabricated grounds. More things for Lanlania to shoot at you over. [4] What is this MKE ship even doing near what could quite clearly be regarded as a threat/enemy of the empire? [5] Ayyeee...I don't even have to here. [6] The first part is okay, though the warships part is called a 'blockade' and is often considered an act of war, plus evidently aggression and bullying. [7] Yes. From a war the MKE started. [8] Having spent the last several months blatantly fabricating a casus belli, yes.
