Nation Name: Arkaus (Florinthus)
Government Type: Confederate Republic
Economy Type: Mostly Capitalist
Target Plot: Map: Galdresia - Orchyre
Expansion Type: Civilized
Informational Links: IC topic so far, outline of the Orchyrian factions a news article outlining the situation
Rebel RPer: Mestra has offered
When did your last Expansion end? March, 2014 (colonization)
When was your last Military Conflict? kind of had a bit part in campania
Why do you seek to expand? Because that island is facking hot and I've been lusting for it ever since I first spawned. ICly? the Orchyrians are Arkausan, and the AC wants to bring stability to Orchyre and ultimately have it join the confederation as a full member.
Plot: The Orchyrian tyrant, King Deros III, was killed by some unknown terrorists in Autumber 321. In the chaos, the military, led by General Butler, declared martial law and the country devolved into civil war. In the midst of this, several factions arose, such as a military faction and a faction supporting the daughter of the old king Deros. One of these factions, the republican faction, wants to dissolve the Orchyrian monarchy and establish a republic. The faction, led by a person who styles themselves President Raleigh Allen, contacted the AC in order to request assistance. The AC would essentially win the war for the republican faction, and then the new republic would join the Confederation as a full member state. The Arkausan government agrees, and support is given. Olaf Gunna, the Arkausan Councillar of Defense, arrives in Orchyre to survey the scene, and he finds that the republicans are not nearly as well-supported as they claimed. He also notices that the republicans are not as well equipped as the AC would have hoped. On Gunna's recommendation, the AC military mobilizes to invade the Orchyrian home islands. The plan calls first for a blockade. The Orchyrian military faction is limited in naval forces, as most of the Orchyrian navy was scuttled or destroyed during the early months of the civil war. Once the blockade is set, the AC demands the surrender from the various Orchyrian factions (one of the factions that could surrender and join the side of the AC here is the di haggia faction - see aftermath below). should none surrender, the Confederate military will begin their invasion. The islands closest to the Confederation will be taken first as their distance from the home island leaves them weak - they are taken with minimal losses, or they simply surrender initially, followed by the Orchyrian home island. General butler and his military faction is primarily based in and around the capital, Ancelsteirre, which is the primary target. It is believed that once the capital falls to republican/confederate forces, the rest of the factions will follow suit. A three pronged invasion, as explained here will be used to take the capital. The fighting is hard, and the newly formed confederate military takes moderately large losses, particularly in the final assault on Ancelstierre. Afterwards, some of the factions can surrender, or they can continue fighting, its no problem. It is in ti his crucial moment, when the republicans are nearing their triumph, that horribly incriminating evidence is found tying "president" allen and his closest associates to the assassination of the king, effectively making him and the other republican leaders terrorists. The AC turns on the republican leaders and arrests them. This is probably for the best anyway, as it /was/ a bit odd that Allen styled himself president without being elected at all, and that sort of behavior lends to the suspicion that he would've tried to be a dictator himself. With this shocking turn of events, the AC decides to rebuild the Orchyrian government, making it an Arkausan territory. Once the rebuilding process is finished, likely in 5-10 IC years, Orchyre will join the Confederation fully. This rebuilding process and the development of the Orchyrian government as a territory will be another topic I'll write up following the conclusion of this one. My thoughts on the orchyrian government is making it a constitutional monarchy, which would give the people their choice in government but still retain a powerless/symoblic monarch to maintain Orchyrian tradition. The di haggias ruled Orchyre once upon a time, and it was the Chasels (the current family) who usurped the throne (in a dirty way) in the last 100 years or something. We'll see what happens with that, especially when Mestra gets involved. I'm willing to give him room to change things if he wants. It's just a bit odd given the topic is already partway done.

I saw Charles di Haggia being mentioned, so I'll put out what'd be best:

A. Make him King (I don't think this is an option :P)
B. Kill him and get caught.
C. Give him a nice comfy government position when all is said and done.

Here's what we were discussing via PM.

We still have the issue of the republican faction assassinating the old king. Even if he did deserve it, that still makes them, or at least the leaders, terrorists... The AC doesnt appreciate working with terrorists...

So potentially what could happen, is when the war is practically over, the news gets out and the AC arrests Raleigh and all the other leaders of the republican faction, charging them for terrorism or whatever else applies. Then, when we set up the government, we'll have actual elections and thats how the government gets chosen.

One way that di Haggia may get included is if we decide to, in order to preserve Orchyrian monarchist traditions and not have a complete 180 in terms of government, we end up going with a constitutional monarchy. This would let a democratic government get formed and would also let Orchyre be able to play with a royal family, because I for one understand that desire. Royal families are pretty fun :)

The final government is ultimately up to Orchyre, with obvious roleplay restrictions (not fascist if the fascists don't win obviously :P ) so let's let him decide whether he wants royals or not.
