Thanks a lot, yeah it's my first one (apart from minor skirmishes on the II forum) so yeah, would be happy to get some help… I can do both sides if you wish, but could be more fun if you'd get another player, although I see the schedule issues. On the same topic, how many people do you see involved in this RP? |

Well, the principle players are DeSchaine, who roleplays with Taeunas, you, who will roleplay with Dolgan and/or Veldria, and I, role playing Florinthus & Galeae. Those are the major players, so far as the expansion goes, but Lomarre, who roleplayes with Lomarre, and Blacaria, who roleplay a with Austlenburg will also be participating as their nations will be merged with mine, forming the Arkausan Confederation. So in total, right now, we have 5 participating, and if we get another player for Veldria we will have 6. This is a lot of role players and that should make it interesting.

Hahaha sure, I just wanted to give them a bit more initiative, and of course, we can RP it so that the clandestine move unravels and taenuas has a legitimate reason to steamroll Dulgan |

Don't legitimatize it too much, bro-mang...or rather, don't go out of the way to do so. Rereading the plot, and taking into account national statistics, it seems like Veldria's gonna steamroll through Dolgan (and it makes sense, really, given Dolgan's smaller geographical area). Rather than conducting some crazy, wild scheme to draw the Taeunas in, why not have it go "lolnogtfo" and send forces in to 'liberate' Dolgan? Much like Flo & Co. are pulling the Culture Card, Taeunas could do similar with Dolgan...while also playing the Keeping-the-dirty-foreigners-off-our-continent Card. That card's honestly a good one. Given how Dolgan would likely be overrun by the time Taeunas steps in (think Korean War China), it's totes possible that Dolgan would have 'no recognizable government'; having it's government go bye-bye isn't totally improbably either, given the small playing field. So...Taeunas would be invading to liberate it's little brother from foreign dominion. Though, this leads to an interesting predicament...why exactly is the Arkausan Confederation going to invade Veldria? Is it going to go "ROOOARR!ANNEXANNEXANNEXANNEXANNEX" and imperialism all over Veldria while it's about to get its ass whooped by Taeunas? Or? Mind, I won't object if that's the plan. It's rather not-very-good-good. :p |

Actually, the way Flo and I discussed it working out was that Veld and Dol would go to war, and at some point, something would happen to royally piss off Taeunas and we'd move to roll BOTH nations, while the AC would sit up and take notice of what was going on and then deploy to try and provide a moderating alternative to my war machine. But, I got to thinking, that really couldnt happen without some kind of agreement between me and the Confederation. Otherwise itd end up in maybe a three way war and thats just nuts. So, for Flo and the others, we're going to have to come up with some kind of regional defense and peace agreement or something to provide an "in" for all of this to work. |

To be frank, it seems a little crazy for the AC to fight Veldria. Beating them down is usually the last option when considering how to stop someone...and a democratic party is probably willing to talk peace when a power stronger than it comes crashing down as retaliation/protection of its sphere. Have you considered a diplomatic intervention? Where the AC intervenes to try to talk the Taeunans out of beating Veldria to a pulp? Or maybe it waits until they're a half-pulp. ![]() That wouldn't lead to annexing their territory, but it could lead to Veldria joining. |

If Taeunas was drawn in by an actual act of war, couldn't the AC move in on their side, to punish the dictatorial leaders of Dolgan and aid in the "liberation" of its people? It could also allow for AC troops to be present as peacekeepers and human rights watch committees (Respectively their equivalent in Oracia)

Since it seems I am taking Veldria's place it changes things. I really don't want to step on anyone's toes so if anyone has a problem with anything I am very flexible. Right now I want Orchyre to be a subordinate vassal-state to a nation (In the future perhaps Orchyre could gain independence through force or diplomacy). I think this can fit fairly well into the this roleplay. This is what I propose we do: Orchyre controls what used to be Veldria and HS01. HS01 (or Dolgon) came into Orchyrian control after a successful invasion many years ago. After some sort of domestic crisis in Orchyre the nation's government collapses. Several Psuedo-Governments rise in the Orchyrian island that claim to be the true Orchyre. Seeing this as an opportunity to bring Orchyre under the blanket of the AC Florinthus invades using the justification that they are bringing law and order to their Arkausian brethren. However, many of the new psuedo-governments want sovereignty and 'Orchyre for the Orchyrians'. Therefore, the Orchyrian factions resist. Meanwhile, in Dolgon, after the Orchyrian government collapses Dolgon suddenly finds itself independent and weak. Being opportunistic, Taeunas invades Dolgon. The factions in Orchyre don't mind because they are too concerned the Orchyrian islands. In the end Taeunas conquers Dolgon. And Florinthus' coup in Orchyre is successful. Florinthus installs a friendly faction as the true government in Orchyre and Orchyre becomes a puppet-state of Florinthus. |

So I have fleshed out and written brief descriptions for all of the factions in the Orchyrian Civil War. I apologize for the wall of text and if anything seems confusing. To keep in mind as you read: Orchyrian monarchs traditionally take on a gender neutral 'royal name' once they become monarch and abandon their birth name. So James Chasel is the birth name of Eshral VI and Victoria Chasel is the birth name of Deros IV. Before the Orchyrian civil war the Kingdom of Orchyre was ruled by King Deros III, also known as the lunatic king. King Deros was corrupt, power-hungry, and crazy. His unpopular rule came to an end after his assassination. Queen Deros IV Faction Before the assassination of the lunatic King Deros III, Deros III named his heir and successor his bastard daughter, Victoria Chasel. However, according to the laws of Orchyrian succession the proper heir was Deros' firstborn son James Chasel. After her father's death, Victoria proclaimed herself as Queen of Orchyre citing her father choosing her as his proper successor as justification. Victoria took on her father's royal name making her Queen Deros IV. Queen Deros' supporters includes those who were fiercely loyal to the Lunatic King Deros III. King Eshral VI Faction The firstborn son and legal heir and successor to King Deros III was James Chasel. However, due to Deros' lunacy and abusive tendencies James and his little brother John fled from the capital and their abusive father to a remote island off the coast of Orchyre along with their mother. Angered by this King Deros disowned his two sons, divorced his wife, and named his bastard daughter, Victoria Chasel, as his heir. After King Deros' death James Chasel rose out of hiding and named himself the rightful king of Orchyre, taking on the royal name Eshral. King Eshral IV garners support from those still loyal to the Chasel family, but fear that Queen Deros IV is just as mad as her father. The d'Haggia Faction The d'Haggia family came to be the ruling family of Orchyre many years ago after some opportunistic royal marriages and exploitation of the Orchyrian succession laws. Although the Orchyrian people were unhappy about a foreigner ruling Orchyre the d'Haggia family ruled Orchyre for two full generations. Eventually, however, Orchyrians rose up and rebelled again the 3rd d'Haggia monarch led by the charismatic Gregory Chasel who, following the old Orchyrian traditions, took on the royal name Saciel. The coup was successful and King Saciel VIII was pronounced Sovereign of Orchyre. The survivors of the Orchyrian d'Haggia family fled to Lomarre still claiming to be the rightful ruling family of Orchyre. After the death of King Deros III and the civil disorder that followed the son of the old Orchyrian d'Haggia monarch saw an opportunity and decided to return to Orchyre to claim his throne from the usurpers. The d'Haggia Faction garners support from the small minority of Lomarrens in Orchyre and from some older Orchyrians who still remember the d'Haggia rule, or stories of the d'Haggia rule, with fond memories. The Republican Faction Many of the Orchyrian people have been turned off to the idea of monarchs after the terrible rule of King Deros III. The Republican Faction seeks to make Orchyre a democratic republic ruled by the people. Many believe that it was an assassin sent by the Republican Faction to kill King Deros III. The Republican Faction is led by the charismatic Raleigh Allen who claims to be President of Orchyre. The Republican Faction gets support from the lowborn citizens of Orchyre who were negatively affected by the Lunatic King's rule. The Military Faction After the death of King Deros III the military, led by General Christopher Butler, attempted to install martial law in Orchyre's capital of Ancelstierre. Those loyal to Queen Deros IV resisted and there has been an ongoing battle for Ancelstierre between the Military Faction and the Queen Deros IV Faction which has made the once great city war torn and ravaged. General Christopher Butler seeks to install a fascist military dictatorship with himself as leader. |
