I came up with an idea to make a Fantasy/medival roleplay about a tiny island nation called Carinia. It consists of a small island about 20 by 15 km large. It has about ten villages and a population of 5500. There is no monarch but a council consisting of the leaders of each village. There is a military but also every citizen is trained well in combat and sparring amongst villagers is a hobby. The citizens do not trust foreigners and uninvited guests are fooled by their friendly mannerisms and are eventually subdued and publicly executed by decapitation. The side of the island facing the distant continent is full of heads mounted on spears. But soon missionaries arrive on the island. Even if they take out the missionaries, the outside nations will greatly underestimate the combat strength of the Carinians.

The people: Carinians are normally easy-going people who are generally friendly. They try to enjoy life and do not desire to be disturbed by outsiders unless these are explicitly invited. The clothing of the people varies by village.


Pretty much the plot is character driven and the enemies are the missionaries and eventually the nations behind them. By the way, the islands belief is a mix of polytheism and shamanism, pretty much like Shintoism.

Magic and alchemy is allowed. But magic can only be simpler elemental magic, weapon augmenting magic, basic conjuring (bears, foxes, etc. mophism etc.), basic blood magic and basic demonology.

What's up Anii, this seems like an interesting RP, I'd just like to get somethings clarified, what are specifics on all these types of magic? Also: what sort of weapons are used on the island

Swords are either curbed (katana, scimitar etc.) or jagged. Spears, bows, axes, knives, scythes, hammers, short blades are allowed.
Simple elemental magic is stuff like starting a fire and moving amounts of water you could move with a bucket.
Weapon augmentation mean to heat a blade using magic increase the weigh of an axe, etc.
With conjuring you can summon wild animals and some may even morph into wild animals.
Blood magic is just to spill blood use magic easier.
Demonology allows the summoning of a lesser demon. Blood letting would cause a limited amount of time for the demon. Life sacrifice makes the demon permanent or until it is killed.

Clothing: Her court clothing is like in the pic: A black turtleneck dress with black bridal gauntlets under two layers of robes. When out and about she wears black leather greaves, a thin short robe in dark blue or green, scale leather shoulder pads, a scale leather harness, boots, black bridal gauntlets, a simple black cloth choker and a silver necklace.
Occupation: Knight/Shamaness
Likes: Black tea, advancing her combat abilities, plum wine, fishing
Dislikes: People who do not respect the individuality of others
Weapons: A curved greatsword and a bow.
Skills: Great swordsmanship and archery, knowledge of alchemy and weapon augmentation, good at do it yourself tasks such as repairing blades
Personality: Mira is a calm person who sees herself as a motherly figure towards her village. She is also there to comfort those who are sad and will always greet you with a smile. The way she deals with visitors and some of the things she does seem questionable or even scary. Best not to get to comfortable with her if you are not a citizen.
Background: Mira was born to a lovely couple and the family seems to be happy. In reality, her parents were harsh to her and treated her as if she was a mistake. Mira spent the most time in combat training just to get away from her parents and eventually excelled in her training. On the side, she was an apprentice shamaness. One day, a neighbor came to their house to find her parents murdered. Apparently, Mira was the murderer but according to her story, she acted out of self defense as her parents threatened to beat her with a bar. Due to being the most successful combatant of her class and probably of her entire village, she was elected to be the village guardian and at the age of 21 she attended her first council meeting.
Village: Mahandar, a village of 200 in the south of the island. Most people are rice farmers or craftsmen. The traits of the village are the simple robes they wear and their scaled leather armor. Most villagers use katanas in combat. One of the best archery schools is located in Mahandar.
