I'balan, Mestra Ministry of Science It was a damp day at the capitol, the storm had hung over the countryside for the past three days. Moods were down and fortunately today would be something that would perk them all up. The press had gathered in the main auditorium of the Ministry of Science building, foreign guests, business men and women and academic scientists were among those seated. An announcement came over the PA announcing that the conference was about to begin. Slowly the lights began to dim as everyone quickly took their seats. A voice went over the loud speaker "Ladies and gentlemen Nikolav Zeros, Mestran Vice-Minister for Science and ISTA Director of Research & Development." A tall man in his late forties walked up to the podium. He had a staunch appearance, one could easily trust this man. Up close one could see the dark lines beneath his eyes, he hadn't been sleeping lately. The recent developments with the ISTA had kept him up late at night preparing for the Conference, and now here it was. "Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to welcome you to this Conference for the International Space Technology Association. As the name suggests this conference will have something to significantly do with Anvaria, but before I jump into our main point let me first congratulate the ISTA on its successful launch of the Eternity space craft. Through the joint efforts of two national governments and multiple corporations we have been able to achieve in a short year what would have taken several by ourselves. This is a testament to what we can accomplish if we strive towards a common goal and work together. Now to the business at hand. Today His Majesty has established a lease with the ISTA for the construction of a new state of the art research facility. Aptly dubbed the Anvaria Space and Aeronautics Research Facility this base of operations for the sciences will be constructed here in Mestra inside the Anvar Forest just 15 miles outside of the port city of Cias. The Imperial Decree allows for the 64,000 acre forest with the equivalent land area of 100 sq miles will be leased to the ISTA for the construction of the campus. This facility will house numerous buildings and facilities to carry out the necessary tasks required for the research and development of future technologies. These buildings will be constructed with nature in mind, making them the most environmentally friendly and sound buildings constructed to date. Three buildings will be constructed initially as part of Phase One. The Main administrative and operations building named the Irezami Administrative Building in honor of Dr. Irezami. Two additional buildings will be constructed, the Konmynn Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Lexus Aeronautic Building to honor those who helped design and fabricate the Eternity space craft. We are committed to insuring that the success of the ISTA is realized and construction on these buildings will begin in the coming weeks, with the estimated completion being at the end of 316. Crews will work around the clock to insure that construction is completed on time. In addition to the construction of Anvaria, the ISTA will begin development of the L7 and L8 launch rockets. With the aim to launch satellites via L7 and station modules via L8 the ISTA is setting its sites to space and beyond. I am proud to additionally announce that we will begin work on the new ATLAS network. Sixty-four Global positioning satellites will be placed into geosynchronous orbit providing an extensive GPS network. The new system will utilize hexilation, or the process of utilizing six satellites to determine a location with an accuracy of up to 1 foot. ATLAS will also provide real time mapping of the planet providing constant update to imagery of the planet's surface. The ISTA will respect national and international laws governing restricted airspace, and will block out the terrain mapping of those locations. Combining ATLAS with WeatherNet a state of the art Virtual Intelligence construct, we will be capable of relaying real time weather reports and be able to respond to natural disasters such as hurricanes and tsunamis. WeatherNet will track all of this and provide real time feed to national and international organizations. This will all be accomplished utilizing High Intensity Data Streams or HIDS, which will beam data packets along high-intensity focused ion lasers. HIDS will allow all ATLAS satellites to be connected on real time with each other and with the ground. Construction on receiving platforms for the HIDS will begin following the launch of the first ATLAS satellite. I thank you for you time and patience as we begin this conference. We will have several talks and seminars for you to participate in. To those nations interested in taking part in the ISTA please see the So'Karsan representative for more information. Thank you and have a good day." Edited by Zanaro, Aug 9 2013, 05:51 AM.

I'balan, Mestra November 17th, 315RE The ISTA President, Dr. Hashima was the next speaker. He prepared his notes as he walked up, he stood at 5'6" and skinny like a pole. His hair was graying and he showed signs of aging, all but his eyes which had the vibrancy of a youth still. He reached the podium and a contagious smile crossed his face, he truly seemed happy to be here. "Greetings honored guests, I am Dr. Hashima the President of the ISTA, and I am here to talk about several of the project we are currently involved in, or are pursuing as of now." He paused for a moment allowing for some tension to build up with the anticipation. "To start the ISTA will be aiding in the completion of the Sainmese Space Elevator using the Eternity Space Craft for these purposes. It is the hope and goal to be able to use the space Elevator to construct future Eternity Space Craft in a Zero-G Environment. These Eternity Space Craft will not have a need to exit the atmosphere which will decrease costs as a whole, and they will have no need to enter the atmosphere as they could very easily dock at the station. Overall this will make space exploration and travel far easier, of course there will still be need for the L7 and L8 rockets and for the High Altitude Aircraft that currently carry the Eternity Space Craft into the upper atmosphere. This is an amazing time to be alive in Oracia and I feel that together with the ISTA we can easily expand our knowledge of our star system and the worlds within it. Currently we are working on a project to land on one of Oracia's moon to begin initial testing for the development of a Scientific outpost to be constructed there. The hope is that because of the lower gravity and the likelihood of untouched raw materials we could use it as both a construction yard and launching point for deeper space exploration. Of course that is many many years down the road. We don't expect to reach the first moon of Oracia until about 318RE. The beginning of a Lunar Scientific station not until 321-325RE, and then if everything checks out begin mining operations and construction operations around 323-330RE. We are very excited about the direction that the ISTA is heading and we are always looking for more member nations, and corporations who are seeking to explore the depths of space in a peaceful manner. We have a So'Karsan representative located in the foyer who will discuss membership status with delegates and representatives here." The man bowed slightly and departed the stage. A spokesman came up the microphone and got everyone's attention. "Ladies and Gentlemen, we will be having a two hour break for you to go about and view the different displays around the facility as well as meet with ISTA representatives if you so wish." With that the hall began to empty allowing delegates to mingle and speak with different representatives. |

The crowd had been moving around the building, discussing the recent changes that were occuring. Several groups of scientists had gathered for discussion on various things, from the future of space exploration, to the cost of the actual programs. A voice came over the speakers and everyone hushed down. "Attention: A Q&A discussion will be held in Auditorium C with Dr. Konmynn and Dr. Lexus regarding work on the ISS Eternity. A conference announcement will be made in the Grand Auditorium in three hours with Mestran Minister of Science Lord Harnow. Thank you." |

Auditorium C was beginning to fill up. The stage at the front of the room had a small table placed upon it with a table skirt. Two microphones had been set up one for Dr. Konmynn and Dr. Lexus. As all the seats were finally filled and many were left standing in the back, the cameras began to role as Dr. Konmynn and Dr. Lexus both entered the stage from the left and right, respectfully. They joined each other at center stage shook hands and sat down behind the table. Ready to answer questions. (OOC: For anyone, you may ask a question in regards to the Eternity spacecraft and the Super Heavy Air planes. Zanaro if you want to post questions or continue that would be great.) |

The reporters began to ask questions as did scientists and people who were just curious about the project. A man of large stature, a Zanarite by all appearances stood near the stage and quieted everyone down. The man pointed to a reporter and allowed him to speak. "Dr. Lexus, I am Reggy Verkal of the So'Karsan Times. How did you and Dr. Konmynn come up with the idea of a Super Heavy Air Plane instead of using a rocket like most other nations?" |

Dr. Lexus leaned forward to answer the question. "Dr. Konmynn and I were discussing the need to lighten the Eternity in order to reduce the cost of launching the ship into orbit. This was in addition to the desire of Dr. Konmynn to include ion-booster rockets onto the ship itself. This exceeded are likely weight capacity with the Eternity being larger and heavier than the current standard rocket models. I was considering how we might increase the thrust of the rockets to handle the new weight and in a short amount of time. That is when I had the idea. I had helped design a few years back a super heavy airplane that was able of carrying heavier loads than a typical aircraft, and the design was easy enough to re-enforce. Dr. Konmynn and myself worked on the necessary launch system to attach the Eternity to the back of the Super Heavies, with not much other work being done to redesign the plane. Dr. Konmynn do you have anything to add?" |
