It's a tense evening in the Prime Minister's Office. Hazel has stayed behind in order to have a meeting with both the Minister for Defence and the Minister for Justice over the recent violence on the streets of Cathair. As she looks outside her window she suddenly realises that being top dog isn't that easy.

Hazel (PM): What are we going to do? We're damned if we do something and we're damned if we don't. I'm just after watching Vinnie Kay on TV1 tearing me apart. Even An Solis is tearing us apart over the violence.

Siobhan: (Minister for Justice) Hazel you know what I think. I'm not a fan of it but I think we have to look at how much the Poli (Nuageal for Police) are being stretched. I hate to suggest it but we seriously have to look at the army coming in.

Pauric (Minister for Defence): I'm telling you now Si, I'm not having the army getting involved. The Socialists will have a field day if we bring them into it. Plus I don't think its reached that level. Add into that that I think adding the army will only give these neanderthals more ammunition to carry on with these protests.

Siobhan: The only thing that is going to give them more ammunition is Pol (Minister for Finance) making these bloody cuts. He's already hampering our police force.

Hazel: We both know that he has no choice. The Socialists left us in a mess. I am agreeing with Pauric though. If we bring the army onto the streets I fear it could get even worse.

Siobhan: Could it get any worse?!

Hazel: Definitely. It's being contained in that one area at the minute. If we bring in the army I worry that it could pass onto other areas of the country especially in somewhere like Eile. It's got the highest unemployment rate in the country and this is something that could trigger off something much worse.

Siobhan: Well we need to do something Hazel! I'm getting moaned at by the Chief Constable.

Hazel looked at Siobhan. Hazel had made her Minister for Justice because of her no nonsense approach however at times she wondered whether she made the right decision. Siobhan was an old guard minister. She nearly belonged better in the Right Way political party especially with her tough stance on Justice but she got the party votes from some voters and she was good when it came to equality (her other portfolio) as many feminists still liked her. However, she couldn't agree with Siobhan on this one. The public were angry at the protests but not angry enough to have the army on the streets. It could make things worse and make the government seem oppressive. That's one thing New Labour were not.

Pauric: Look Siobhan, keep him sweet and say that you are having talks with us about it. You're not lying to him by saying that but I just think we can't go down that route. I can imagine the headlines already and the images in the newspapers. For the time being, it's the police's job to handle this situation. Personally, I think it's just a tiny thing. Obviously the public are never happy with cuts but we're still getting support from much of the public and bringing in the army will decrease that.

Hazel: I have to agree with you there Pauric. Anyway we've been here for nearly 2 hours and I need to get back to my wife. I'll give both of you a text in the morning and make sure we're all singing from the same hymn sheet.

Siobhan got up from her seat, feeling again that she was steadily becoming more and more separated from her party.
