Operation: The Northern Pirate War; Expansion, Stage IS10

My Expansion, Related to This

Ah... I'm also using this to bring the War on Piracy back to the forefront. Almost a decade ago, the Commonwealth and some of it's allies "declared war" on Piracy--which nearly dominated the Iryiiad seas, as well as everything north of the present-day United Socialist Empire.

"Lines, why was this a thing?"

Partially for RP--it let us target something without having to hurt someone, partially because there needed to be excuses for why large swaths of land "out of contact" with the rest of the world, but mostly because I'm an imperialistic douchebag of the first thing--yeah, the first thing.

Piracy is how the Lanlanians ended up with Sabine--it was a large pirate stronghold. Over the course of a few weeks, the Commonwealth Navy (in conjecture with the Adehnite Navy) broke the pirate fleets, before landing forces on Sabine and sweeping across the island.

We decided to stay.

That was pretty much the end of organized piracy in Iryiiad, though the island off northern Dyriiad might have some running around. However, the Commonwealth basically destroyed piracy as a solid threat in Iryiiad.

And it was planning doing similar in the north. But then the Imperial War against Zanaro broke out, which necessitated the postponement of distant military operations. After Zanaro, the whole DU-IA thing took off, which further tied down Commonwealth operations.

Unfortunately, the whole DU-IA thing has somewhat died down; this, coupled with my boredom, has promoted the Invasion Liberation of the Kalzans, during which the Commonwealth will get even more buddy-buddy with Sainam and So'Karsa (if they agree to help out), as well as develop relations with the Mestran Imperium and Invarian Coalition.

Now, this could mean a few things. The Commonwealth mainly just wants the Kalzans (because I want the Kalzans), but would be willing to participate in limited operations against pirates further north.

And yes, there are pirates further north. I believe I posted somewhere that the majority of pirates came from Hylis. Hylis used to spawn the entire Verles region though. This means that the pirates could come from those regions... which means we can lash out against them.

To expand the extent of the War on Piracy, we could identify a few pirate strongholds (aside from the Kalzans), and hit those. Keep some of them too. :P

Confirmed Pirate Strongholds
The Kalzan Islands (IS10)

Potential Pirate Strongholds
GN01 Islands (secondary "pirate" facilities in need of "liberation")
Islands of the Colonium Coast (Hylis would likely be involved with these)
Others? (as in, do you guys have any suggestions)

Potential Timeline
  • 314, JUN: The Commonwealth recognizes the Invarian Coalition and the Mestran Imperium as potential threats to the Commonwealth--but also potential allies against foreign influences in Syntreal (the Commonwealth doesn't want non-Caprecian states exerting influence in Caprecia). Plans for Commonwealth operations in the north--against pirates--are dug up, and an invasion of the Kalzans is discussed.
  • 314, AUG: The Commonwealth meets with it's Zaroca allies to discuss the continuation of the War on Piracy, though admits (to his allies) it would be a cover for seizing the Kalzans as forward base against the Invarians and Mestrans.
  • 314, OCT: Following an agreement with it's allies, the Commonwealth seeks out the Syntrealites for cooperation in a region-wide assault against piracy.
  • 314, NOV: Commonwealth/Sainamese/So'Karsa forces begin probing the pirates operating in the Pacis Sea.
  • 314, DEC: A large CSS force engages the pirates, pushing them northward. A CSS force lands on Kalzan, from So'Karsan Cartic.
  • 315, JAN: Invarian forces hit the pirates being chased by CSS forces. Potentially, someone hits GN01.
  • 315, FEB: Hylian, Imondan, Mestran, and Saal forces launch operations against pirates in the Tobian Sea. Hylis seizes the majority of the islands, though a few can fall into H/I/M/S hands--or Hylis can grant basing rights.
  • MORE?

Potential Participants
  • The Commonwealth
  • Hylis
  • Imondan Confederacy
  • Invarian Coalition
  • Mestran Imperium
  • Sainam
  • Saallands
  • So'karsa
  • Anyone else interested?

Zan, Blac, I need final numbers. Blac, you said you'd supply Sainam's Third Carrier Battle Group, and Zan much the same. As well as...some ground troops each of you?

The Commonwealth's commitment would be the Narra Fleet, from Zanaro, which has:

02 x Supercarriers (HMS-Gelent, HMS-Röttfördig)
02 x Carriers (HMS-Thorssel, HMS-Horby)
04 x Battleships (HMS-Flaleand, HMS-Thalesden, HMS-Heredag)
18 x Cruisers
10 x Frigates
10 x Submarines
02 x Amphibious Assault
02 x Amphibious Transport

Except for the Amphibious ships and a few cruisers, frigates, and subs, all of it would be available to the fleet's commander for the battle against the pirates.

Soo...how many ships are you two providing? And which one of you wants to command the fleet? :P

We can worry about the landing stuff afterwards.

Yeah, Sainam would be providing it's Third Carrier Battle Group + Second Cruiser Patrol Group for the offensive. It would include

01 x Supercarrier
03 x Battleship
03 x Cruisers
03 x Destroyers
06 x Frigates
01 x Amph. Assault Ships
01 x Amp. Transport Docks
04 x Attack Submarines

I could also spare a patrol group if needed, as for the number of troops I think I said about 5,000 paratroopers, and about 4,000 landing forces. Now, as for fleet command, I might do it, gods knows I need the practice :P

Edit: Added a Patrol Group, added landing forces.

Aye, Mestra...we'll be organizing the Syntrealites in that conference I've started. Was gonna start the actual talks today, but then chose to start the fighting instead. Totally not to delay both. :P

Blac: aiighto. Danko. I'll kick off the battle a day or two after Zan posts his. Ideally, you two should include whatever landing forces you're throwing (an amphibious group or two...Lanlania's sending two of 'em), as well as the paratroopers.

Oh, Zan: if you're cool with Blac commanding the naval battle, you can hit the West Kalzans. This way, we all get some war RP (I'll be hitting the Kalzans). Or, you could each have command over your according forces...but there's not as much unity/cooperation as there could be in that. ;)

So'Karsa would also want one of the GN01 Islands as a 'Colony' of the Republic. I'd be ok with Blacaria controlling the fleet, except for the Carrier Task Force which I will keep control over.

Not at all, it's a show of force to ALL Pirates throughout the world that if they continue they will be hunted down to the last man. So you know, a WAR against piracy.

Well...the battle's began, no thanks to me. Although, this is only a part of it.

Apologies for anyone who was looking towards the conference, but given that the RP has been going on for...months, and IS STILL ONLY BEGINNING, AND that I /really/ have no interest in that meeting...we're gonna skip it. Sorry, bros.

So, let us organize you guys OOCly, aye, aye? Which Syntrealites nations were totally up for beating on some pirates and maybe seizing a few overseas possessions?

Mestra? Agrias? Nova Angleterre? Imonda?

Well, that was an interesting battle....

Anyway, Zan: fast-forward a few days and start the amphibious invasion of the West Kalzans? We did say /you/ were gonna role play that, right? Here's a map; Gaz would be the West Kalzans.

Mestra, Valus: I'll start a thread for the northern campaign in the next few days; I apologize for the delay. It'll probably be the HMS-Gelent (wow, this ship had quite a tour of duty) meeting up with the Mestran and Agrian (and Imondan?) task forces and engaging the Ciaossi Northern fleet somewhere in Iandan-Tobian. Depending on how the battle unfolds, and who does what, I'll see what you two gain from it. It's unlikely I'll let anyone snag any significant part of Ciaossu...partially because I've already made up my mind that Noberia will help us cut the role play short.

You know...that's already enough to overwhelm the northern fleet. :P

I think the north one was only two supercarrier.
