0800 Hours, April 20, 314 Castléon, Inner Foothills General Carlos De Dios Otero Antormarchi Del Castillo Cabeza De Vaca The rebels had taken everything, And were now pushing inland, they had the beachheads "Secure King Juan Robles de las Rosas del Castillo del los Santos San Marinos in the Castillo de la Afuera, we cannot afford to hand him over to the enemy!" I shouted at an aide passing by. He turned white and ran off. Now for a counter attack. We had artillery installations, granted they were old, they still worked. "Get ready to charge." I told the scared looking men in the trenches, "On my mark the artillery will rain down upon the enemy, then we shall counterattack, For King Juan!" A soldier looked up at me "General, This is Suicide-" I shot him in the face, Fear Ensures Loyalty, "Any others who wish to fall out of line?" No answer. "FIRE!" The artillery loudly shot shells down onto the beachhead, the counterattack started. "Forward you Dogs! Into the Breach! For King Juan!" |

Lieutenant Torbah waited inside the assault amphibious vehicle with his platoon as the landing forces of the United Socialist Empire offloaded onto the beaches of Castellón.![]() As they approached the beach Torbah heard the whine of artillery shells and then soon after dozens of explosion. The driver of the AAV looked down at him from the driver compartment, "The Castlians are chewing up the beach, lucky you weren't in the first wave eh." Lt. Torbah gave the driver a nod and yelled back into the compartment "30 seconds till offload, ready up." The AAV climbed onto the beach, blackened and smoking from the recent artillery barrage, from the water. The AAV ground to a halt and disgorged Lt. Torbah's platoon onto the beach. ![]() Torbah took a moment to survey the scene, all around him other vehicles were approaching the beach and disembarking their personnel onto the beach. Despite the recent barrage, there seemed to be little damage to any of the U.S.E. landing forces that had arrived. Surprisingly, there seemed to be little resistance on the beach proper at all, much of the gunfire Torbah heard was coming from farther inland. Lt. Torbah quickly gathered his platoon and as they began to move inland Torbah prayed that the rest of this operation would go as smoothly as the landing had. ![]() |

April 23, 314RE District 4 Commander Sergius Verdillia looked out from his bunker, he and his men had been told to let the foreingers land on the beach head, let them feel safe before they were struck by a pincer manuever. Indeed it seemed to be working, the USE was already moving deeper into their terretory spanning themselves out over a large area. It had been three days since they first landed, and now it was time to strike. "Alright men, the USE forces have moved deep in, and they have allowed themselves to fall into a false sense of security. We are going to strike hard and fast. We have our orders it time we carried them out!" In a sudden movement Caslteon forces came alive throughout the jungle filled terrain and quickly began quick assaults on the USE forces. The strike was focused from two of the rear flanks near the beach head, while a third force struck at the arrow of the USE marine force. Within hours Castleon planes took to the skies and began to drop bombs upon the core of the USE land forces, while also going partially out to see and striking against the incoming USE transport ships. The sudden and combined strike was seen as a great tactical manuver by General Carlos. April 23, 314RE Castellon, Castleon King Juan the Grand stood on a balcony overlooking a crowd of proud royalists and reporters. This day he would tell his people he would fight for them, and that in turn he needed their help in fighting the foes. He took a deep breath before he spoke. "My beloved populace, we are at war once again. A mere six years ago we fought a war that lead to the fall of the Grim revolution, and the return of our great nation. Then two years ago a new revolution occured that led to the current state we are today, and these revolutionaries have come to try and finish the job. I say no! We will not fall! We have fought for to long, in to many wars to surrender now! We are a united people! We are a strong People! We will find friends abroad who will help us, and we will survive! Long live Caslteon!" The crowd errupted in a thunderous applouse and a roar of support. As soon as Juan was out their sight he nearly collapsed, he was honestly afraid for his people and his nation. He looked to the Viceroy and nodded, the man nodded in return and walked off. They needed to contact the Lanlanians, perhaps they would help them one last time. |

Lt. Torbah and his platoon were moving farther inland. In the last three days since his platoon landed, the 1st Marine Division had pushed almost 25 miles into the jungles of Castleon. There had been spasmodic gunfire, but nothing to serious. Lt. Torbah was somewhat surprised that there had been almost no enemy activity in the last twelve hours especially since they were getting close to the Castleon Command Center Central-West, the large military base in that area. He had reported this apparent lack of enemy activity to the battalion commander, but he had laughed it off and said that Torbah was overreacting. Lt. Torbah didn't think so, is was way to quiet, he didn't put it past the monarchists to pull off a trap. At least if his battalion commander was caught with his pants down Lieutenant Sharoz Torbah the Third would not be. His platoon was at full combat readyness, nobody in his unit would be caught unaware by the dirty monarchists. So when the Castlians opened fire from well defended, prepared and camouflaged positions, nobody was too surprised, that didnt mean that the heavy gunfire didn't scare the crap out of them though. Torbah's platoon quickly took cover and began to return fire. Calmly and efficiently Torbah reported enemy contact in his sector. However, less than five mins after his initial report mortar rounds began whine down. The calm forest sounds had now been replaced by the sharp raps of gunfire, crump of mortar rounds and the horrendous cries of wounded men. Thankfully, Torbah and his unit were able to dig in and hold their positions with no casualties, though several men had been wounded by wood chips when a mortar had hit a nearby tree near a foxhole. As the day wore on however, Torbah began to realize that support would be needed if they wanted to forge ahead. As Torbah began to call for reinforcements and receive detailed repots of the battlefield he began to realize how severe the situation was. The Castlians were pulling off a major counter-attack and many other officers had been caught almost completely unprepared. The entire landing force was being pushed back and in just a couple hours some units had been pushed back several miles. The Royal Castlian Air Force had also staged an attack managing to strafe the beachhead several times and damage several transports before being chased away by U.S.E. fighter pilots. The company commander also reported that Torbah's platoon actually had been cut off from the rest of the company. With his news Torbah realized what a precarious position his unit was in and ordered a fighting retreat. As they pulled back from the area, a charred mess of destroyed trees, shell holes and blackened earth Torbah thought off the jungle that morning, green, vibrant and alive. As they reached the the rest of the company, Lt. Torbah looked back, as a large red sun was setting over the jungle, Torbah thought off all the men that had died today, and how many more would die before victory was achieved. |

April 24, 314RE Castellon, Castleon King Juan looked at the dossier from Lanalania, there would be no military aid, and to keep the nation alive he'd have to abandon it. A government in exile. Something he had been hoping to avoid since the last revolution, since before any of this. "Viceroy Randell, I shall leave here, along with a few leaders of the nation. Castleon will not die this day, we shall return to power one day. I shall leave you in charge, do as you feel is right Viceroy." Spoke King Juan to his oldest friend and adviser, he had seen his nation rise and fall in a few short years, and now he had to leave it for any chance at it returning. "Your Grace, I hope you will be safe across the sea. We will not surrender, if possible we will break the invaders and allow you a place to return home to." The Viceroy smiled and gave a small bow. Juan looked upon him with sorrow, and left the room followed by a few other leaders of the nation. Juan thought to himself while he walked down the stone hallway about his people, his nation. Had he recreated Castleon as a Constitutional Monarchy would it have fallen? Would Flores had been lost to the So'Karsans? Why was it now that the USE decided to attack them, they had no true reason other then hatred for him. April 24, 314RE District 4 The Castleon forces continued to fight off the invaders, holding there lines, digging trenches and setting up mine fields. If the USE forces decided to attack again they'd lose many soldiers to them. This war wasn't going to end without a fight, not when they were the last of their nation. So many Castleonians had joined the USE when it came into formation, betraying renewed oaths to their king. Now here they were invading the last of the Royalists, they couldn't just leave us be. Planes continued to scream over head trying to continue to aerial fight with the USE. It was a difficult battle to be sure, but how long would it be before the USE finally was able to continue the assault once more. Commander Sergius Verdillia looked out from the trench he and his men had completed, barbed wire, mines, and mooter pits scattered the ground before them. Behind him lay dozens of trenches and mortars, as well as tanks and booby-traps of all sorts. They knew they would eventually lose this ground, but they would make the USE forces pay for every inch. |

April 24, 314 RE U.S.E.S. Invincible General Ozzel stared at the battle map of District 4, how was it possible that the Castlians staged a counterattack? Intel had told him that General Carlos was in charge of District 4, Ozzel remembered him from his days at the academy, a fool with little strategic or military sense who loved to play hero and get good men killed. This counterattack was much to sophiscsted and well thought out to be be a brainchild of Carlos, but of a subordinate with actual military acumen and training. The attack in District 4 had stalled and seemingly no amount of artillery fire could dislodge them. Ozzel would be forced to pull off a ground attack unless... Unless, the special forces team en-route to the capital could capture King Juan and end this war before heavy casualties and damage were caused to Castleon. General Ozzel still had family and friends in Castleon and he was worried for them. He had been trying to keep civilian and military casualties to a minimum, but if this kept on going at the pace that it did, he would be have to take more drastic measures to ensure victory. Victory, Ozzel was sure of, another 10,000 marines would be here within the week, but he was no longer sure that Operation Liberty would be quick and painless. 1900 hours April 24, 314 RE USES Predator The sun was slowly setting over the submerged submarine. The palace was right next to the sea and the special ops team would infiltrate through the king's personal harbor using a minisub and then capture the king and take him back to the Predator using the minsub. The Premeir had personally given them their orders and they had trained for several months just for this mission. The black suited special ops soldiers slipped into the minisub and it soon disappeared into the twilight. |

((OOC: Mmm... Sorry, RC. Also, sorry Zan: I couldn't resist. ))Castellón, District 6 314, April 24, 1910 Hours Unfortunately for the Socialist special ops, their months of training were for naught. King Juan had left the castle hours earlier, through a secret exit that left him in a home--one of many--a few meters from the palace. He'd shed his royal clothes, instead donning civilian clothes. The two guards that accompanied him, both seemingly his age, were just as under-dressed. The three didn't waste any time, before moving from the basement into the house proper. The place was silent. The furniture was old and wooden, while the air had a stale stench about it. As if it nothing had moved through it in years. Indeed, this royal castle on the islands had been built for the Royal Family ages ago, though the secret entrance had been a more recent addition, after Juan had been forced to abandon Castléon proper. Nonetheless, a black sedan waited outside, the target of the three. As their vehicle started and headed towards the public marina to the east, another few left the castle a few dozen meters away--each one carrying a different member of the Kingdom's government--and a pair of helicopters took off from the castle grounds. |

Castellon, District 6 April 24, 314RE 1912 Hours The Viceroy stood looking out at the ocean, knowing that his liege-lord was safe across the sea. Several men in dark clothes moved like shadows into the room, he peered over his shoulder to them and smiled. "I'm sorry gentlemen, your King is in another castle." He spun around gun drawn laughing, he died in the cross fire. His last words echoed with both truth and humor. The Viceroy was dead, and now the Generals of each district were in charge. Gipuzkoa, District 2 April 25, 314RE The Castleon military had reinforced the city as best they could, trapping the country side (Mines, pit traps w/ spikes, tripwire bombs, barbed wire blockades between trees) and setting up hidden sniper locations. District 2 was having a more difficult time holding off the invaders then District 4 was according to the reports. Within the next few days reinforcements were expected to arrive from Teruel in District 5, as well as a counter attack from the Central-East Command Center. Captain Gerard Sylvaria looked out from his treetop sniper post, prepared for when the USE forces began to move in. They would be noisy thanks to the trapped jungle and the other snipers hidden in the area, he'd already killed nearly ten scouts before they set off a single trap. |

"What do you mean that King Juan wasn't there? Tzzak shouted at the screen, in a rare moment of anger. The figure, a special ops solider in a black uniform, replied calmly "Sir, when we entered the room we found only the Castilian Viceroy, when we tried to capture him, he pulled his weapon and we were forced to kill him. From intelligence collected from the castle, it seems that the the king and maybe a select few others in the royal family an government have fled from the country." Premier Tzzak sighed, "Forgive me for my unwarranted out burst solider, your team did the best that you could. Thank you for your service." The special ops solider nodded his thanks and cut the connection. Tzzak stared at the dark screen, thinking. Without the king or the viceroy, the head of the government was gone, the power now lay in the hands of the district governors and generals. Tzzak suddenly smiled as he realized that this situation, though not what he had planed for, now presented him with a golden opportunity. He called in his secretary and had her dictate a letter.

General Carlos looked to the camera before him, after receiving the letter from Premier Tzzak he decided to hold a televised conference for all of the nation to see. He would end this war now, and bring glory to his king. "Lords, and Ladies I come before you to inform you that the letter given out by this Premier Tzzak is just a way for them to try and make usbuckle under the pressure of their evil invasion of our home! They have killed our Viceroy while our King was away securing us aid! These Socialist scum have shown their true colors as cowards and manipulators! I will not go down without a fight, and so I emplore all of you, all the free people of our great nation to take up arms and repel these invaders! Fight with all you have, lets take them out here andnow, let us show them the power of a unified nation!!! For our King!!!!" As he finished his speech the camera turned off and he looked to his men before him. "Full assault, give everything we got. We'll lose some men, but we'll take more of theirs!" the soldiers shouted and began to filter into the jungle ready to assault the USE Forces. ((OOC: Since this was broadcasted nationwide expect large amounts of resistance in your movements from both well trained and ill trained soldiers. Also your landing locations are going to be assaulted heavily for some time.)) |

(OOC: Sorry it's taken me so long to reply I've been really busy RL) April 25, 314 RE U.S.E.S. Invincible General Ozzel stared at the screen as General Carlos's speech finished with thunderous applause from the crowd. Suddenly he snapped too and shouted at his aide, "tell all forces to go on high alert, Tell the commanders that I believe that a Castlian counterattack is coming very soon." The aide nodded and ran out of the room, Ozzel got up and and walked out to the deck of his command ship and stood there, still as a statue, knowing that many good men would soon die and that he couldn't help them any more. April 25, 314 RE District 4 Lt. Torbah was helping to move a mortar when he was approached by another solider, "Lieutenant, message from HQ at the command post, something about an upcoming attack ." Lt. Torbah stopped and frowned, there had been no signs of an upcoming enemy attack on his position. However, maybe the high command had seen something that he couldn't, so he beckoned for a soldier to come help and he hurried over to his command post. Once he was inside he went to the communications and pulled up the message on the screen.
Torbah frowned again, it was unusual to receive message by the comsat system, usually urgent orders were given by radio. However, despite the unusual method of delivery, orders were orders, Torbah contacted his squad leaders and soon Torbah's platoon, like many others was scrambling to their battle positions. As his platoon took their positions, Torbah grinned, additional reinforcements had arrived and the battle line had been entrenched. The monarchists would be met by heavy machine guns, mortars, AT missiles, artillery and rocket fire, and air support. The forces of the USE would not be caught surprised a second time. |

East of Exile Castléon 314, April 25 Juan sighed. Last night, the two helicopters had safely reached the government's back-up escape ships in the north--where they set sail with the remnants of the Castlian fleet eastward towards Thanan. He hadn't heard of them since. The cars had, for the most part, been decoys--most drove in circles through the city--a few made their way towards an airfield in the north of the island, where an aircraft took off heading to safety. He hadn't heard from them either. Of course, that was mostly because he didn't have any way to communicate with them. He'd heard the general's announcement on the radio--depressing, motivational. It did hurt him to leave his country behind. But if he was to regain Castléon... "How much longer?" he asked aloud. "We'll be in Thanan in a few days," the Länlanian answered from another room. "I'm told the Thananese are rerouting a few destroyers to watch over us though." Juan raised his eyebrows, before a pout took over his face. "The Länlanians?" "Aye," the man returned. "They sent a signal over satellite a half hour ago." The pout turned into a scowl. That bastard King, Soren II. |
