Tyrian Names

All Tyrian names are composed by three parts: The given name, the city/district of birth, and a numerical suffix. At present, however, this is more of a formality that only exists for government records. Such names are needed to help distinguish individuals. The first son a man bears has their name inherited from the father. Similarly, the first daughter inherits the mother's name. The suffix distinguishes individuals in the same way that suffixes do in other societies.

Ethnicities

Pheidans: 99% of the total population of approximately 15,000,000
--Korinthion Pheidans: 54%
--Vorei Pheidans: 36%
--Pnevmatan: 9%
Iofon: 1%

Pheidans dominate the the ethnic makeup of Tyras. Tyras was once divided into two kingdoms before being forcefully united into the Tyrric Union, a fact which accounts for the two distinguishable groups of Korinthion and Vorei Pheidans. They have more in common than what separates them. Both the Korinthion and Vorei live primarily on the mainland.

The Pnevmatans are strict adherents to the traditional Pheidan religion of Pnevi. The majority of the Pnevmatan's live on the islands of Smaragdisia District.

The Iofon are an entirely separate group of peoples living in the Magi Mountains in the north of Tyras, on the border with Dagroth. The term "Iofon" literally translates to Pheidan as "hill people." Due to their small population and self-imposed isolation, practically nothing is known about them in mainstream society.
