Sausage Sizzle SENSATION

Posted by Zeus (CQBC Member) at Jul 27 2017, 10:01 AM. 0 comments

Many thanks and congratulations to those who manned the Bunning sausage sizzle on Sunday past. It was a long shift from 9 am to 4 pm as stipulated by Bunnings
Darren and Debbie carried the can of organisation with Debbie and Cameron having to shop for more supplies.
Nearly doubling the take of the previous Bunning sausage sizzle by the club was an excellent effort. The club financial balance was increased by 1.35 times

The next Bunnings sausage sizzle will be Sept 16 so please make a note as extra workers allow shifts to be cut down to 3.5 to 4 hrs each

As a small club we can achieve GREAT THINGS Well done to all

Illawong Racing Venue

The total block was mowed today Friday ready for SUNDAYS RACE DAY ,
PLEASE PLEASE we need YOU ALL to participate in OUR CLUB Come on down and enjoy

Jim Garner, Tony n Kate used 3 mowers to complete the task in under 4 hrs The trick is not to let it grow more than a month or maybe 3 weeks in the peak growing time. Now the tractor cuts low it will cut in 8th gear ( Quite fast so slow down for the turns ) . down PTO and let her rip. If it is longer, then down 1 gear and lift the cutter deck to 12 oclock on the hydraulic lever.
At Peter D,s request the flapping clubhouse roof ridge capping has been secured and the extra 3 poles have been relocated to the fence down area improving the rigging area

We have a great resource here but we need to prove to the doubters that now the Council Rates have been drastically reduced to $28 per half that it is affordable and offers an all wind direction, all tide venue
Steps are afoot to seek approval for a hard surface smooth track to utilise the Southern end and minimise the mowing

If you can help with the mowing over the next 5 months please talk to Jim as we don't want to KILL the WILLING!!!!

Sailing the BLOCK

Posted by Zeus (CQBC Member) at Sep 25 2016, 08:45 PM. 0 comments

With the wind in the NORTH, Bucasia was out and a FEW of us ( 6 ) went to the block to try out a different direction.
The grass mow was 5 days old so the growth from the rain and sunshine was noticeable and did slow the going at times

Any breeze from the northerly quarter is typically gusty and today was no different. Swings of 30 degrees and gusts varying 10 knts were noted. Wind readings from the block were typically 5 to 7 knts lower due to the trees with a maximum gust to 18.9 knt recorded

A new ( yet to join ) member Mike borrowed Jim Garners cart and was a very quick learner.
He later rolled another cart a couple of times when the urge got stronger. Mike is the second success from our Bucasia come and try it day with a new cart due this week.

New Zealander Jim brought his pod and 4 m2 sail to be very competitive as long as the wind stayed in but generally it was another 5m day at the block
CONCLUSION A good days sailing. even with an irregular wind, is better than sitting on the sofa.
