"Let me get a...latte. Please. With extra whip cream." she made her order to the barista, smiling at the end and waiting for her drink. She tagged along with her brother to campus today because of her boredom and responsiblity. Damien was acting very strangely lately, and she knew it was from the thing that he was had in his wallet. That nickel bag of something. She always wondered how he was the adult in the family. She should've been. He acts like such a child sometimes it makes her want to gag. Ha.
She took her drink with a warm smile, bringing it to her nose and taking a big whif as she sat down at a nearby table.

Charlie started into the coffee shop, a frown on his face as always. He started towards the counter, tugging his wallet out of his pocket as he did, and stared the barista down. "Coffee, black," He nearly snarled at the girl before tugging his hat lower on his head. He tossed a few dollars on the counter and scowled at the girl.

Jaymee turned to see a familar blond enter the shop and gasped loudly. Without a thought she quickly ran to him, wrapping her arms around his waist tightly.
"Charlie! Charlie! I'm so sorry I was so mean to you in the bar. I wasn't myself, Charlie. Oh, can you find it in your heart to forgive me?" she cried out to him, letting loose her hold on his waist and reaching for his hand. She held his one hand with both of hers, bringing them to her chin as her eyes glistened over with tears. "I didn't mean any of it. I swear." She looked up at him and expected his forgiveness with eager eyes.

"What the hell..." Charlie tugged his hands out of Jaymee's before turning to grab his coffee and starting towards one of the tables. He really wasn't in the mood to listen to Jaymee today. He'd just gotten off of one of his worst shifts in a while and he really didn't have the patience to deal with anyone. Maybe she'd take the hint and leave him alone.

She took a step back as he tugged his hand away but regained her posture and followed him.
"That's the part were you're supposed to say, 'I forgive you Jaymee.'" she told him, crossing her arms over her chest with a frown.

"Assuming I forgive you, yeah, I'm sure that's when it would have been said," He shrugged a shoulder and opened the lid of his coffee before taking a deep sip. "But given that I neither care nor was insulted...it doesn't really matter to me," He shook his head and set his cup back down on the table.

She looked at him before sighing and turning to get her drink. She assumed she was forgiven, for he was talking to her, even if he doesn't admit it.
"Does anything get to you Mr. Thick Skin?" she asked as she reapproached the table, sitting herself down comfortabley across from him.

"Hopefully not," He said, shrugging his shoulder again before reaching for his coffee cup again and taking a deep sip, burning his tongue on the liquid as he did. "What's the point of thick skin if it does?"

Jaymee rubbed her eyes, feeling a little light headed. She took a sip before looking back up at him.
"Well, what if someone died that was close to you. Like me! .. Okay scratch that. Like.. you're girlfriend. Then you'd have to show some other emotion. . Right? Sadness, grief. Ever heard of 'em?" she smirked behind her cup as she took another drink to stop the floor from tilting.

He shifted in his seat, trying not to show any trace of emotion. It was a skill he was practiced in. So, finishing the last of his coffee, he glanced at her with a blank face and shrugged. "Maybe. It's a hypothetical situation though so..." He shrugged his shoulders again and glanced up at one of the paintings hanging on the wall.

She studied his movements, but couldn't get anything out of them. She propped her elbows on the table and cradled her chin in her palms.
"Come on Charlie. Just think you were in the situation. I mean, when I lost my parents I still remember what it felt like. You never felt like it was your fault or anything? Or felt anything besides anger..?" she asked with a frown, tilting her head so her cheek was pressed against her hand. "I'm just making sure you're human."

"My parents are dead," He replied, glancing over at her and shaking his head. "Yeah, sure, I was upset. I was a little kid when my mom died. I didn't know what to think about it," He fought the urge to roll his eyes. "Wow, thank you for taking the time to ensure I am actually human,"

She took another drink and blinked, clearing her vision.
"You're welcome, you'll come to appreciate it some time." she told him, examining her hands. They looked swollen. She made a face and hid them under the table discreetly while leaning back in her chair. "I imagine you the kind of kid who used to kick sand at the other kids in the sandbox. And steal their snacks. And hurt their feelings." she continued on with the child conversation, not really wanting to get too deep into the parent's thing.

"I'm sure," He stared into his empty coffee cup and debated going back for another one. Did he really need a second coffee though? He wanted to sleep tonight, not sit up doing nothing because he'd had too much coffee. "Please...stealing snacks? That's just cruel. I didn't get really cynical until middle school anyway so..."
