David Tennant leaves Dr Who Tennant Talks Dr Who David Tennant is to stand down as Doctor Who, after becoming one of the most popular Time Lords in the history of the BBC science fiction show. Tennant stepped into the Tardis in 2005, and will leave the role after four special episodes are broadcast next year. He made the announcement after winning the outstanding drama performance prize at the National Television Awards. "When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won't be with me," he said. "I don't ever want it to feel like a job, so I want to move on when it still feels exciting and fresh." "Now don't make me cry," he added. "I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don't take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you'll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair." So the million pound question is.....Who do you think the new Dr Who will be? |

Perhaps Simon Pegg (aka Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz , etc) . . . or perhaps Dylan Moran (Black Books) . . . |

Voted NP because I believe (as always) it will be a relatively unknown actor as opposed to everyone else on that list who have a record as long as my arm. So NP is more probable than anyone else there. One question about the BBC's list of "bets on the next Dr Who" 1. Why is the master (John Simm) there? and 2. Why do you assume the next Dr. Who have to be from the British Isles? The show has gotten more popular then it ever was before. They can afford to import a Dr |

*bows* thank you for your vote of confidence, I think that I (with Sypons as my trusty sidekick) would make a fantastic Dr Who G, the Brits think they own Dr Who and to have anyone non British would be an immense sacrilege to them. I tried to picture Johnny Depp as the next Dr Who but I can't get Captain Jack Sparrow's image out of my head - not quite a match with the Tardis, methinks. i think we could help, K-Rudd land the role, Australia could have the first Time Travelling Prime Minister, well, not counting Harold Saxon of course. |

Yes! Harold Holt was really the Doctor, and when he died, he took the form of William Hartnell! It all makes sense now! Although that does make Hartnell the Second Doctor, not the First, and changes the order of everything... Unless...Holt is the 11th Doctor, and he simply travelled back in Time to become PM of Australia...the question still remains though, is Pauline Hanson really a member of the Slitheen family? |

"Order" is a very flexible concept when you talk about time travel |

True, although i was talking about the order of the doctors - First: William Hartnell; Second: Patrick Troughton; Third:Jon Pertwee; Fourth: Tom Baker; Fifth:Peter Davison; Sixth: Colin Baker; Seventh: Sylvester McCoy; Eighth: Paul McGann; Ninth: Christopher Eccleston; Tenth: David Tennant. If Harold holt was the first Doctor, then that makes William Hartnell the Second, and so on. Unless he is the Eleventh doctor and is simply pretending to be human to be PM, like Harold Saxon did in Utopia, the Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords

I find that it is only confusing if you think about it, the best remedy is therefore to not think about anything in particular and just continue along your merry way |
