Condemnation of the North Pacific Directorate

The Council of Equilism has announced the following Condemnation of the North Pacific Directorate:

The late Ronald Regan once remarked that “You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, ‘There is a price we will not pay.’ There is a point beyond which they must not advance!” Well, that time has come. Over three months ago, the members of The North Pacific Directorate staged a deliberate and ruthless coup of the democratically elected government of The North Pacific. They have ruled the region with an iron fist, and ejected all those who question their absolute rule. The members of the NPD that assisted in, or gave support to, the overthrowal of the democratic government of The North Pacific are enemies of Equilism and her interests.

Our thoughts and hopes lie with the freedom fighters working to restore democracy to The North Pacific. They have been oppressed for too long. They deserve a government that is responsive to their needs and their concerns. Where they can feel free to criticize the government's decisions without living in perpetual fear.

We, as free societies, have an obligation to call out this regime for what it is: an illegitimate government that is contrary to everything that we hold dear. The democracies of NationStates must be united in this effort; there can be no mistaking such an enemy now. For if we are to squabble amongst ourselves about the official standing of such regimes, we might very well plant the seeds of disunity amongst our ranks.

Whatever our policy or ideological differences are, we all share a respect for our citizen nation’s rights, and for the rule of law. We all recognize that the only true governments are the ones who are determined by the people. Popular sovereignty, the separation of powers, all of these bind us together.

Equilism hereby urges all its friends and allies to make similar statements condemning the regime and in support of the citizens of The North Pacific. If we present a united front, we cannot fail. If we turn on each other, or fail to act, this injustice will only be prolonged. We would like to especially single out The West Pacific, which has been instrumental in leading the fight against the Directorate, and made an eloquent declaration two days ago.

For three brutal months, the NPD has cast a shadow of totalitarian darkness. It has twisted and manipulated both friend and foe in an unprecedented quest for power. Equilism will not rest until a democratic North Pacific is attained once again, and we call upon Moldavi and his administration to step down from the delegacy, and let The North Pacific be run by those from The North Pacific once again.
