Foreign Affairs Chancellory of Foreign Affairs Weekly Update: Highlights June 22-July 26 2008 Current Chancellory Posts Chancellor of Foreign Affairs: Naivetry Deputy Chancellor: Biyah Deputy Chancellor: Midiri June 22 - In the past week, Equilism was pleased to reopen relations with Nederland. Talks have begun with the FRA, a treaty draft with New Liberalia has been forwarded to the College for approval, and a number of other projects carrying over from the previous week are nearing completion. Equilism has also turned down an invitation to join the NationStates Union, a new joint embassies forum, since we are already sending an ambassador to the NationStates Public Embassies. June 29 - Equilism formally reopened relations with the Meritocracy this week. A friendship treaty with New Liberalia is now under discussion in the College. Since the beginning of the month, talks with the FRA have continued, several additional regions have been contacted regarding SIREN membership, and at the request of the July 26 - Equilism Foreign Affairs has been busy redecorating our foreign embassies/consulates sector this week; an embassy exchange was approved by Antarctica, leading to the creation of their embassy in Equilism, and both The Last Kingdom and Walbard Union were granted consulates. In addition, we are pleased to announce the reopening of relations with Jethnea and The United Kingdom. NeoUnited Dictatorship is still under consideration. Mutual statements of apology and reconciliation have been posted between the FRA and Equilism after a series of diplomatic incidents several weeks ago, and we look forward to the normalization of relations between our two fine organizations. Staff Changes As Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, I regret to announce that I have accepted Tycholand's letter of resignation as Senior Advisor to the Chancellory, due to differences of approach in foreign policy. I would like to take this moment to acknowledge the experience and service of Tycholand in the Chancellory of Foreign Affairs, and to express my continued appreciation of his presence and his contributions here. Tycholand will still be serving as Ambassador-General, and I thank him for the offer to continue doing so. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Naivetry. Immigration Chancellory of Immigration Weekly Update: Highlights June 18 - July 28 2008 Chancellor: The Monkye Deputy: Whamabama Naturalisation Officers: Simpistan, Greenburrow Immigration Officers: Greezer, Ruthgar Date: 18 June 08 | Population: 344 (+14) | Delegate Endorsements: 76 (+13) Whamabama won the recruitment competition with 465 nations recruited. Monk recruited 100 nations. Simpistan recruited 151 nations. Go Immigration team! Naivetry recruited 24 nations. and Tycholand didn't post his list but recruited 100 (I'm including the 80-odd that mysteriously disappeared). A total of 840 nations were recruited in total. Names of lists will now be voted on to see which one is Equilism's favourite. The population hit 350 briefly last week, before settling down to the low 340's so far this week. The Chancellor is pleased to announce that Simpistan and Greenburrow have joined the crew. Simp is in as a naturalisation officer, while GB is as yet un designated (though will probably be a naturalisation officer). The Chancellory is still interested in finding new peons to work for it. Applications go to the Chancellor or the Deputy. 100endos for the WAD campaign has continued slowly, albeit with a 13 endo increase this week (it has stayed around there for the last few days). Progress reports on this initiative will continue throughout the month. Help us out by sending a few TG's. The Chancellor defeated his deputy in the EWC match. Whoed've thunk it, a Chancellor better than his protege? Date: 23 June 08 | Population: 348 (+14) | Delegate Endorsements: 79 (+3) Whamabama won the recruiter of the week with 400 nations recruited. Simpistan recruited 110 nations.. Greenburrow recruited 20 nations. Go Immigration team! Tycholand recruited 36 nations. A total of 566 nations were recruited in total. The population went back over the 350 mark a couple of times this week. More work must be done if we are to see it stay over that mark. The Chancellory proudly welcomes Greezer as a new member. The Chancellor is out at the current moment, but is expected to return to his duties in a few days. After his loss in the Equilism World Cup, The Monkye needed a little vacation to drown his sorrows. Date: 1 July 08 | Population: 339 (-9) | Delegate Endorsements: 77 (-2) Whamabama won the recruiter of the week again with 527 nations recruited. The Monkye recruited 60 nations, Greezer recruited 25 nations. Go Immigration team! Tycholand recruited 75 nations. Monk has now joined Fel and Whama in recruiting over 2000 nations this year. Keep up the good work! A total of 687 nations were recruited in total. Despite this we suffered our first loss across a whole week for nearly two months (which is in itself an achievement). During the week though, Equilism's 48,000th recruit was TG'd, and we are approaching 15,000 nations for the year, hopefully hitting that mark during this coming week. The contest to see who’s named recruitment list in last weeks recruitment contest is Equilism's favourite is in voting, and closing in a few days. get your vote in soon or miss out. Currently, the monstrosity created by The Monkye leads with four votes, three ahead of its nearest rival (and many more syllables ahead as well) 100endos for the WAD campaign has suffered its first whole week decline (-2) as well. We need more new nations, and we need to contact more of them in order to get it going up again. Naturalisation Officers, where are you? The Chancellor may be busy this week at the E-Beach, patrolling the beach to make sure everything is safe, whilst organising a sand castle building competition. He hopes to come back next week even more buff and with a better tan. Date: 8 July 08 | Population: 315 (-24) | Delegate Endorsements: 74 (-3) Whamabama won the recruiter of the week again with 300 nations recruited. The Monkye recruited 40 nations, Simpistan recruited 21 nations. Go Immigration team! A total of 361 nations were recruited in total. Indicators suggest that the summer slump has indeed begun (later than last year though I think). Recruiting has become more difficult, and levels of recruiting have reduced, and many CTE's have been occurring. Recruiting will need to step up a notch if we wish to remain a 300+ population region. The Chancellor suggests a target of 1000 nations a week between the region. Date: 15 July 08 | Population: 312 (-3) | Delegate Endorsements: 76 (+2) Whamabama won the recruiter of the week again with 479 nations recruited. The Monkye did not recruit...but new Peon Ruthgar did, and he recurited 50 nations. Go Immigration team! A total of 529 nations were recruited in total. After last week's massive slump, we stabilised, but an increase in recruiting will be needed if we are to maintain our status as a 300+ region. Date: 22 July 08 | Population: 299 (-13) | Delegate Endorsements: 73 (-3) Whamabama won the recruiter of the week again with 295 nations recruited. The Monkye recruited 50 nations. 345 nations recruited this week. This is far from our goal of 1000 nations a week, and far below my own usual weekly tally. We need to improve people. Pick it up. This is the dreaded summer slump, we need to recruit harder now than at any period in the year. Date: 28 July 08 | Population: 292 (-7) | Delegate Endorsements: 71 (-2) Whamabama won the recruiter of the week again with 334 nations recruited. Simpistan recruited 41 nations. Summer slump has hit us hard the last month. We have seen zero growth in the region. Recruiting has become harder, and motivation to recruit is going down as a result. Recruiter of the week standings: Whamabama: 10 Felasia: 9 The Monkye: 7 Tarlisea: 2 Naivetry: 1 Wagger Tribe: 1 The College Membership: The College has welcomed two new members in the past month: Iberian Empire (July 9) and Simpistan. Naivetry is the first person in the era of the Realm of Equilism to be awarded this honor.
Legislation: The College has voted to ratify the Equilism - New Liberalia Friendship Treaty. Equilism has also passed a motion to remove New Eunomia from the position of Lord High Advocate due to inactivity. The College would like to thank New Eunomia for his contribution to the region. Chaucerin has replaced him as our new Lord High Advocate. In addition, there are also many discussions in the College, including the discussion on the current Endorsement Cap, discussion about Equilism's University, change in the position of Chancellor of the Realm (WA Delegate) and discussion on an amendment to the constitution regarding the position of Heir and Lord High Steward. Ejection Notice: With advice from the E-Army Intelligence Agency, Westwind has ejected Ikistan from the region.

![]() The Foreign Affairs Chancellory apologizes for the tardiness of this report. As our staff settle into their new jobs, we anticipate moving back to a weekly publication schedule. Military Liaison Report ![]() Equilism Army Headquarters Leadership of the E-Army Chief of Staff - Zorn Uzkul Commanders - Felasia and Tarricoe Military Liaison - vacant Public News In the last month, E-Army soldiers have been spotted in Pittsburgh, Rajahland, Dementia, Nineveh, Novus Orsa, The East Pacific (briefly in support of Gnidrah), Devins Domain, Kush, Austria, Narnia, and Cambodia. The Rajahland mission was particularly noteworthy. Here is what Commander-in-Chief Westwind had to say:
Foreign Affairs Current Chancellory Posts Chancellor of Foreign Affairs: Whamabama Deputy Chancellor: Thoughtful Ideas Deputy Chancellor: Hitchcalm Deputy Chancellor: Midiri The new Lord Chancellor Naivetry has appointed Whamabama the new Chancellor for Foreign affairs. Equilism discussed Eurasia’s declaration of war against Gatesville. Discussion about the Cloth of Gold Conference in Great Britain and Ireland is ongoing. Discussions include a non-aggression treaty, naming rights, and an Open University program. Currently the Foreign Affairs Chancellory is contacting prospective regions for the university program. So far interest has been high. Any region wishing to participate is encouraged to contact Whamabama. Also under discussion is the change in government in The East Pacific.

Recruiter of the week standings: Whamabama: 13 Felasia: 9 The Monkye: 7 Tarlisea: 2 Naivetry: 1 Wagger Tribe: 1 Simpistan: 1 The College Elections and Appointments: On August 1, after a contest and application process to determine who would become the next World Assembly Delegate (a.k.a. exalted WAD) of Equilism, Westwind announced the selection of Dalimbar, former 'rouge daligate' of The North Pacific as the new Chancellor of the Realm. Following the resignation of Neo-Conservatism as Governor General, Westwind and Chaucerin exercised emergency powers as the two remaining Guardians of the Realm to provide a means of conducting elections at the beginning of August. Biyah, Naivetry, and Whamabama were the candidates for the position of Lord Chancellor. With 46.67% of the vote, Naivetry was sworn in on August 9. On August 10, E-Army Chief of Staff Zorn Uzkul presented E-Army Private Pensée to the College for advice and consent as the new Military Liaison, responsible for reporting to the College on the doings of the military. On August 15, Naivetry presented the following appointments to the members of the College for their advice and consent: Chancellor of Domestic Affairs: Tarlisea Chancellor of Foreign Affairs: Whamabama Chancellor of Immigration: Wagger-tribe All three Chancellors were approved and have taken office effective immediately. Legislation: While elections were still in progress, Lord Chancellor Felasia submitted an amendment to remove the Heir of Equilism from the Constitution. The amendment was passed and signed into law on August 1. Legislation involving the regional Endorsement Cap was also brought to a vote during this time. The legislation was approved by vote, but King Westwind returned it to the College for additional consideration given concerns over a lack of specificity and flexibility in the wording of the document. A new draft has been mostly completed, but is awaiting a vote on a Constitutional amendment before final revision. On August 16, Westwind introduced a slate of proposed amendments to remove the Governor General from the Constitution. A heated discussion followed, with over 100 posts generated in 10 days. Several members of the College objected to the removal of the Governor General, who was meant to provide the College with a voice within the unelected Triumvirate of Guardians, insisting on the importance of a counterbalance to the power of the Monarchy. Proponents of the amendments argued that little to no actual power was being taken from the democratic legislative body, given the structure of the Triumvirate and the number of options available to the College to ensure the balance of power. A compromise was reached, wherein the Lord High Steward, who serves as the Monarch's designated successor and substitute during the Monarch's absence, is now charged with serving as an advocate for the College, and emergency powers have been more strictly defined. The massive slate of reforms is now up for vote; voting will conclude on September 6. Finally, a discussion on a Sovereign Naming Rights Agreement for NationStates 2 is underway, with a simultaneous discussion held at the Cloth of Gold conference in Great Britain and Ireland. Membership: Hitchcalm was admitted to the College of Equilism on August 18. TheElitists is currently undergoing the Equilism Rite of Passage to gain entrance without waiiting for two weeks of forum membership to elapse. Equilism Culture Open Debate Battle of the Gods has heated up. Entering round three it’s a free for all. We all wait anxiously to find out who the winner is. Role-Playing Star Trek Equilism continues to go strong. If only they could find their AWOL tactical officer. The E-bar has again been rebuilt. Violence abounds in the E-bar, and it’s not recommended to visit without a death wish. Other general violence can be found throughout the RP. Quote of the Week Westwind raps on IRC:

Breaking news posts will be collected and sent out once weekly, or as events warrant. Contact General Editor Naivetry to contribute a story or to find out how you can become a reporter for the Wire. Breaking News: Gnidrah loses delegacy of TEP; new delegate proclaims a new Empire 2008-08-16, 06:13 GMT After 836 days in the delegacy of The East Pacific, Gnidrah has been replaced by an otherwise unknown nation, Lady Phedre, who declared herself Empress moments after update. The upset was supported by movement from outside troops, predominantly from raider or imperialist groups - observers speculate that the alphabet soup of organizations includes TLK, TNI, TBH, MM, CLT, DEN, and the Gatesville Guard, but currently only Gatesville members are confirmed. The invasion was opposed by a wide range of defender organizations, including TITO, FRA member regions, and Equilism. Equilism and several other groups pulled out before update, however, when evidence was provided that prominent TEP natives were supporting the switch, making the situation an internal coup or revolution. More coverage on who was where when, as well as updates on the new regime in TEP, will follow as more information becomes available. Breaking News: The Empire in TEP and Gatesville sign treaty, Gatesville dissolves TNP treaty and declares war, TNP returns the favor 2008-08-31, 01:52 GMT Lady Phedre, Empress and Delegate of The East Pacific, announced today the signing of a treaty between The East Pacific and Gatesville. The treaty formalizes a relationship of mutual defence and intelligence sharing, among other things, between TEP and Gatesville. 2008-09-01, 00:54 GMT Gates posted a declaration today issued by the Gatesville High Council dissolving a treaty held with The North Pacific. The statement highlights the activities of Flemingovia and Kharkistania in The East Pacific in "slandering members of the Gatesville High Council," and states that the treaty may be reestablished if the two are officially reprimanded. Less than three hours later, Eluvatar, Delegate of The North Pacific, responded with a statement cosigned by Heft, Minister of Defense, recognizing the state of war declared by Gatesville. Pointing out the fact that Flemingovia and Kharkistania are both members of several other regions that were not singled out for similar treatment, TNP claims that Gatesville's "intentions from the beginning appears to have been simply to drum up an excuse to void the treaty. Read more about it in The North Pacific. Breaking news: TEP joins conflict between Gatesville and TNP 2008-09-01, 04:56 AM GMT The East Pacific has declared for Gatesville in the third announcement of hostilities to be posted in last 5 hours. In a post laden with religious phraseology, Lady Phedre declared that, "All resources of The Empire shall be mobilized to help Gatesville remove the meddlesome pest that the government of The North Pacific has become." More on these latest developments will be posted as information becomes available. NOTE: More information on the current NationStates "World War" will be forthcoming in next week's update. Since the last report from the Wire, key developments include: 1) The New Inquisition and Great Britain and Ireland join The Empire/Gatesville bloc. 2) The Narnian Council and The New Revolution declare for The North Pacific. 3) TAO announces the formation of the NTO - New TAO Order. As of September 11, the following regions have joined: The West Pacific, The North Pacific, One Big Island, Gatesville, A Dark Corner, The Ozarks, Hweha Park 4) TNP goes on the offensive and raids two former Gatesville regions. 5) TAO and the Black Sheep Squadron raid The Editing Floor, the region of game moderator Sirocco, in protest of NS2. 6) The founder nation of The New Revolution is seized by a regional member, Novaya Zemlya. Other members band together to form The True Revolution. |

Recruiter of the week standings: Whamabama: 13 Felasia: 9 The Monkye: 7 Tarlisea: 2 Naivetry: 1 Wagger Tribe: 2 Simpistan: 2 All of Man Kind: 1 The College Legislation: Constitutional reforms replacing the Triumvirate of Guardians with the Monarchy passed on September 7, with nine members voting Aye and five voting Abstain. This unprecedented rate of abstention caused some concern, and King Westwind sought the interpretation of the Judiciary to clarify whether the amendment had garnered the 2/3 vote necessary to pass. Citing several different sources, Chaucerin stated that the definition of 'Abstain' was clearly 'to refrain from voting' and that as such votes of "Abstain" were not to be calculated in the vote tally. As a matter of definition rather than interpretation, the matter was returned without a Judicial finding, and Westwind accordingly signed it into law. This sequence of events spurred discussion of whether a fourth option, that of voting "Present," should be added to the ballot, which would allow noncommittal votes to count towards the final tally, possibly blocking legislation without the need for an active Nay vote. Most members, including those who had voted Abstain, agreed that such a measure would be unnecessary, if not undesirable. On September 14, Equilism ratified the Sovereign Naming Rights Agreement, an inter-regional agreement created during the Cloth of Gold conference held in Great Britain and Ireland. On September 20, the College approved an Open Campus Program with a number of other regions. The revised version of the Endorsement Cap Law was opened for voting on September 21. Discussion has begun on reforms to the Laws and Procedures of the College of Equilism, to bring the L&P in line with the new Constitutional amendments. Formal Reports: The Monarch delivered an address to the College on The State of NationStates: Of Wars and Rumours of Wars, discussing the recent delegate change in The East Pacific and the dramatic political realignments that have resulted from it. Membership: In accordance with the Constitution, Aftheria and Pensée have been removed from membership in the College after more than 2 weeks of inactivity. Breaking News: Lord Rahl's identity revealed 2008-09-21, 06:47 GMT In an identical post left on the forums of Equilism, The Empire, and The West Pacific, Biyah posted a confession of his role as Lord Rahl in The Empire, inviting Equilism and TWP to join him there. Levels of surprise have varied, as have other judgments, ranging from congratulations to boredom to new-found distrust. In response to the latter tendency, Biyah has submitted his resignation as Chief of Intel in Equilism and has been removed from sensitive areas of the forum. |

Foreign Affairs Chancellor of Foreign Affairs: Whamabama Deputy Chancellor: Thoughtful Ideas Deputy Chancellor: Hitchcalm Equilism and Skalysta have agreed to exchange embassies. We have decided not to join the "Coalition of Armed Nations" alliance. Equilism has offered to host a summit between Paradisia and New Liberalia. Talks are currently underway about establishing relations with Paradisia. Equilism is currently in talks with The Empire after receiving an invitation to join The Empire. Also under discussion is our relationship with the FRA. GB&I declared war on The True Revolution after members of TTR were caught sabotaging their forums with spamming of this posting is currently being monitored by the authorities, and your IP address has been recorded. In accordance with Equilism law and the COPS treaty Equilism has severed relations with TTR.
Domestic Affairs Chancellor: Tarlisea Deputy Chancellor: Flexion Deputy Chancellor: John Ashcroft Land The Chancellor for Domestic Affairs appointed two deputies: Flexion and JAL. Domestic Affairs is discussing redoing the Bar section of the forum. Immigration Chancellor: Wagger-tribe 21 SEP 08 - Tarlisea won recruiter of the week reward with 211 nations recruited. Hitchcalm also recruited 166 nations, and Wagger-tribe recruited 122 nations. 499 nations recruited total. 28 SEP 08 - JAL won recruiter of the week reward with 49 nations recruited. No others recruited this week. 05 OCT 08 - Felasia won recruiter of the week with 500 nations recruited. JAL also recruited 193 nations. 693 nations recruited in total. Good Job. Recruiter of the week standings: Whamabama: 13 Felasia: 10 The Monkye: 7 Tarlisea: 3 Naivetry: 1 Wagger Tribe: 2 Simpistan: 2 All of Man Kind: 1 John Ashcroft Land The College Legislation: On October 5, Westwind signed into law an amendment to the Endorsement Cap Law which clarified the responsibilities of the government with regards to setting and publicizing the endorsement cap. Rather than enshrining the endorsement cap in legislation, this new version of the law allows the Monarchy and Delegate to set the endorsement cap, with recommendations from the E-Army's Intelligence Agency. Legislative Order #2: On October 5, Dalimbar unexpectedly resigned from the World Assembly, leaving Equilism without a WA Delegate 3 hours before update. Lord Chancellor Naivetry made use of the LC's Emergency Powers, the second use of such powers in the history of the Realm, to appoint "Some emo guy" as interim delegate until a more permanent replacement could be found. As mandated in the Constitution, the use of Emergency Powers was ratified almost immediately by Westwind, who then ordered the E-Army home to garrison the region. Westwind has since issued a call for applications for the WA Delegacy to find a more permanent replacement. Appointments: With the position of Lord High Advocate vacated thanks to the recent Constitutional reforms, Tarricoe has been appointed and confirmed as the new Lord High Advocate, head of the Judiciary. This resulted in a vacancy within the lower ranks of the Judiciary, and so Felasia was appointed and confirmed as Advocate General to replace him. The third and final spot on the Judiciary is also under consideration, as the College votes on whether or not to remove Advocate General Tse Moana after over 2 months of inactivity. Membership: Equilism members were informed on September 21 that Biyah, then Chief of Intel and member of Foreign Affairs, was Lord Rahl of The Empire. Biyah quickly resigned from his posts in Intel and Foreign Affairs. On October 4, Dalimbar revealed his own identity as Lady Anastasia within The Empire, shortly before resigning from the World Assembly. Following Dalimbar's resignation as Delegate, Biyah resigned from the College of Equilism, but has since reconsidered following assertions from Westwind and others that "to presume that Equilism will oppose your continued involvement due to your roles elsewhere is incorrect." Both Dalimbar and Biyah currently remain as members of the College of Equilism. In other news, John Ashcroft Land has applied for membership in the College of Equilism, and is currently undergoing the Rite of Passage. Equilism Culture Hitchcalm, Wesleiesm, Blogger, and Zaam continue to rack up the posts in the Spam games. With the occasional appearance of a Monkye, and even an old spam pro like Whamabama doing the occasional post. The Star Trek: Equilism RP is still going strong, and war is about to get violent. Broken News: TTR accused of spam attack on GB&I et al., Lady Phedre's identity revealed, Lady Anastasia's identity revealed 2008-09-21, 22:00 GMT Great Britain and Ireland reported a spam attack conducted on their forum today (as well as the forums of The New Inquisition and The Brotherhood of Blood) which they subsequently traced back to members of The True Revolution. Prime Minister Bilrow's original statement to the region on September 22 was followed by a statement to the interregional community on September 23, a second interregional statement on September 24, and finally by a declaration of war on September 26. In the Global News Network article dealing with the attacks, TTR claims to have posted an apology; GB&I personnel confirm the postings, but say that they were first from an unregistered and then from a registered source not known to be connected with TTR. 2008-10-02, 06:05 GMT Lady Phedre confirmed today her identity as Neenee, long-term citizen of The West Pacific. As Empress of The Empire in The East Pacific, Neenee/Phedre reaffirmed her commitment to activity and reiterated her desire for TEP to "shine and be a cornerstone of NS," while admitting that part of her motivation has been pride, to show people that it could be done. 2008-10-04, 07:04 GMT In the latest in a string of Imperial confessions, Dalimbar announced today in The Empire and in Equilism his identity as Lady Anastasia of The Empire. Dalimbar's announcement was followed by his resignation from the World Assembly and therefore from the delegacy of Equilism less than 24 hours later, resulting in an emergency delegate appointment and the recall of the E-Army to garrison the region. |

Texas, The Black Market, Yggdrasil, and Paradisia have been contacted for embassy exchanges. Foreign Afffairs is considering The Commonwealths embassy request. The Commonwealth consists of the regions The Kingdom of Ireland, The Kingdom of Sparta, The Kingdom of New England, The Kingdom of Hawaii, and The United Islands. Immigration Chancellor: Wagger-tribe Immigration has been active as always. A new topic has been set up to ensure that all new Equilism nations are welcomed with a telegram and a forum invitation. Breaking News: Fresh fuel for feeder war 2008-10-09, 10:55 GMT Delegate-elect Tresville of The North Pacific posted official logs today of a conversation from TNP's government IRC channel. In the logs, Tresville (Cisco) answers questions from TNP government members about his policy on everything from RMB spam to the Empire. In the course of discussion, the activities of Flemingovia and Outer Kharkistania on behalf of the Confederacy of The East Pacific (cited originally as the cause of the war) were mentioned as a potential obstacle to opening talks between TNP and The Empire. The discussion closed after an apparently controversial (but publicly undisclosed) quote selection made by Eluvatar from the simultaneous commentary occurring on The Empire's IRC channel. Tresville has made a speech requesting that TNP present a united front on the issue of the war, and making it clear that any chance for peace will have to wait for another administration. Tresville (WA nation: The Tresville Element), whose election to the delegacy has not gone without controversy, is presently 35 endorsements short of overtaking the current delegate of TNP, Zemnaya Svoboda (aka Eluvatar). Observers speculate that it could be a matter of several more weeks until the delegacy change is effected. Breaking News: Gnidrah resigns from WA, retires from NS 2008-10-12, 19:20 GMT Gnidrah, former delegate of The East Pacific, resigned today from the World Assembly. Since his forced removal from the Delegacy, Gnidrah's continued presence in the region, hovering at just below 100 endorsements, had served as something of a rallying point for the Confederacy of The East Pacific, the former government of the region. In a letter posted on 1 Infinite Loop's forums, Gnidrah explains that he is officially resigning from all positions within the region and the forum, and retiring from NationStates as a whole, after approximately 4 years. Citing both Real Life(tm) considerations and his opinion of what was best for the region and for NationStates as a whole, Gnidrah bid his friends and associates farewell. Breaking news: Fae gains delegacy of TWP, announces cabinet 2008-10-15, 05:34 GMT At update today, The Faeyas gained the delegacy of TWP following her election as First Minister in that region. Fae has announced her cabinet, which includes a number of prominent West Pacificans as well as several more-unanticipated picks. |

We also launched an anti-Nazi mission in Nazi with our friends in The Black Hawks who share the same hatred for this racist group. This mission has confirmed our position as an "independent" force in NS and that the E-Army will no longer blindly follow an ideology, but protect Equilism's best interest. Other News E-Army Intelligence also continues to ensure the security of the region, but we're not allowed to tell you anything. The new Chancellor previously held the role of WA Delegate and Chancellor of the Realm from August 1st to October 5th 2008. In an address to the College, and a subsequent notice posted in the Chancellory, the new Chancellor stated that he intends "to review the current practices and institutions of the Chancellory to find areas where we as a region can improve in the area of foreign affairs, while at the same time inviting all interested citizens into the service." Dalimbar also stated, "I will be working with the Lord Chancellor to make sure our foreign interests remain secure, what ever they may be. We live in a decaying world, but there is no reason for Equilism to give up just because others are." As a notice to all regions that currently have embassies and/or consulates with us, the Chancellory will be enforcing our "Inactive Embassy Policy" shortly, which states that Embassies that are inactive for more than six weeks will be closed. The Constitutional reform removes all mention of NationStates from the Constitution, and replaces it with a provision for game-specific charters to govern member activity in online games. As Equilism explores the possibilities of moving beyond NationStates, this is an important first step in maintaining our government and community while providing a means for members from other games to become Equilism citizens. EQ Weekly, #05, 12/04/2009 This week marked the first of the WAD’s Immigration Challenge, in which the WAD outlined some regional goals he has challenged the region to achieve. So far inroads have been made in the endorsement department, and in the population department thanks to recruiting from the WAD and the Grampa. Meanwhile, Billions across all of Equilism’s resident nations celebrated Easter, a tradition which dates back to the days when the Romans crucified Jesus for hiding their eggs and making children search for them. Offensive historical inaccuracies are to be blamed on the cookie monster who threatens to steal all of Equilism’s cookies. In the WA, Equilism is experiencing almost record turnout, with numbers turning up to vote approaching historical high’s last seen 6 months ago. So far 12 WA citizens have registered their votes, and while there is a clear majority apparent at the moment, your vote in future WA resolutions could tip the balance of how the WAD votes, which may affect the result at the WA. For those confused by this, your vote counts, so participate! In Main Street, waiting customers in Naga’s teahouse were finally served upon her return, while the Anime club had an emergency on their hands when Hamajahala was cut in half by an untested be in two places at once machine. The Games and Fun section has been quiet, as spammers may have been taking a break to gorge on their chocolate easter eggs. An NS influence poll was released recently, with Westwind, Biyah, Naivetry, Dalimbar, Neenee and Whamabama all featuring, as well as The Monkye who got a write in vote. The Monkye hopes for more write in votes next time so he can become a permanent fixture on the list, and will make wilder claims than being Max Barry in order to do so. Equilism was 9th in the list of most influential regions, another good result. Any readers who wish to either make the list or improve Equilism’s position is invited to the dark areas of the forum where all the machinations go on. So it was a mixed week in terms of activity, but the life signs are good. That's all we have time for today, I hope you enjoyed your edition of EQ Weekly. Now for the complimentary Enquirer!

![]() A New Constitution Discussions concerning the establishment of a new Constitution for Equilism were begun shortly after Lady Naivetry became our new Monarch, when King Chaucerin stepped down. While the discussions got off to a slow start, a number of inventive ideas have been presented as well as simplified proposals. Pirates and Dr. Horrible were seen lurking behind some of the proposals, and what the outcome might be is yet to be seen. Stay tuned for future news on the fate of Equilism's Constitution. Elections High Advocate Westwind posted an announcement reminding the region that the November Prime Minister election is set to begin on November 5th. As per our Constitution, there will be five days for candidate nominations, followed by five days of voting. Candidates may campaign throughout the election cycle. Octoberfest! While the Beer Hall has been too noisy for anyone to talk, and Naivetry is trying to stare at her beer instead of drink it, the competition for a regional flag and anthem have entered the voting stage. Expect to see the winners in our next update. In the meantime, feel free to stop by and sample the variety in the ever noisy Beer Hall. The World Assembly -Repeal "Commend 10000 Islands" 0 For, 7 Against, 0 Abstain Equilism stood strong in support of the Commendation of 10000 Islands, with all voting WA citizens casting their votes against the appeal. We were truly disappointed in the passage of the Repeal. Equilism is also concerned over the developing 'tit-for-tat' exchange of condemnation resolutions in the Security Council. -National Economic Freedoms 0 For, 5 Against, 0 Abstain Finding the proposal flawed, the WA voters declined to support this resolution. -Habeas Corpus 0 For, 3 Against, 0 Abstain With all of the few votes cast opposing the resolution, our Delegate voted against the resolution. E-Army Having returned from the success of the Feudal Japan Liberation, the E-Army has been working to continue the effort to ensure the security of regional sovereignty. The High Command continues to process new applicants, and get them placed into training as cadets. Foreign Affairs Equilism would like to apologize for the recent lack of updates from our region to yours. You are important to us, and we want to keep the lines of communication open. Our doors are always hope to hear from you, and we appreciate each and every update you have brought to us on the happenings in your region. Open Debate Recently, debate has centered upon a few threads including the 'History is cyclical' thread with contributions from The Monkye, Biyah, Astarial, Chaucerin, The Hypercube and Naivetry. The perennial favorite 'God doesn't work, faith is a trick' has seen recent action, as well as the 'Generations to Come' thread. If you love a good debate, Equilism has just the place for you. Role Play Tarlisea has started a new Role Play, "The Government of Equilism", where everyone can RP their government roles in Equilism. Our visitors and diplomats from region all around NationStates are invited to participate as well. So far, the Prime Minister and Members of Parliament seem to be wandering around the great halls of Parliament, or enjoying the surrounding gardens. Roll Call! has been called for in Star Trek:Equilism. Players have been asked to report by October 30th, or face the prospect of being dropped from the roster. The current mission continues, and anyone who would like to join should contact Tarlisea. There has also been a suggestion that the crew of Star Trek:Equilism might consider working together on the missions in the new Star Trek Online once it has launched. Several Equilism members have applied for the closed beta of the upcoming game. The Equilism Enquirer The lastest occasional issue of the Equilism Enquirer was published this week, with a curious headline about the Delegate of The North Pacific, Equilism citizen John Ashcroft Land. ![]() And that's the way it was in Equilism.....thank you until next time.... |

![]() Elections, returning faces, and a new Prime Minister A couple curious turns of events occurred with our recent elections. Having announced the new election cycle, Westwind resigned as High Advocate and turned over management of the election to Advocate General/Governor General Felasia. He immediately joined Parliament, as did two other returning members - Chaucerin and Astarial. (Westwind and Chaucerin chose to pass on the Equilism Rite of Passage, while Astarial is in the process of undergoing the Rite as of this writing). Nominations for Prime Minister went to Westwind, Flexion, The Monkye, Phendarrah, Tarlisea, and Whamabama. Three of those accepted nomination, leading to the final election results: Westwind - 72.73% The Monkye - 0.00% Phendarrah - 9.09% Abstain - 18.18% In coordinating the transfer of the Delegacy from The Monkye to Westwind, it was decided that Monk should hold the Delegacy for a few more days, so that he can reach his 400th day in the delegate's chair. Official Equilism Flag Adopted ![]() With 56% of the vote, the official flag of Equilism was adopted in a regionwide vote. The flag raising ceremony brought tears and expressions of nationalistic pride to nations throughout the region. Kubrickistan suggested that a regional Equilism Flag Day holiday be considered, while Russian-Republics somehow spilled vodka on the flag. Equilism indecision on an Anthem The runoff vote between the finalists in the Regional Anthem contest has resulted in a tie vote. While polling has remained open, no further votes have been made since November 9th. The two songs in contention are: Fanfare for the Common Man (proposed by Westwind) Last of the Wilds (proposed by The Monkye) There appears to be increasing support for a mash-up of the two songs. The proposed new Anthem title: "Fanfare for the Last of the Commonly Wild Men" seems to be most favored. To a New Commonwealth Regional discussions on a new Constitution have reached the point of a fine tuning of the final document, and preparation to move towards a regionwide vote. The current Confederation of Equilism, a Constitutional Monarchy would be replaced by a return to our earlier formation as a Commonwealth of Nations. Equilism Around The World Flight Race The race which began on November 1st has just concluded with all the contestants reaching the finish line . The final scores of the race are: Whamabama- 28 Naivetry - 25 Felasia - 24 The Monkye - 21 Flexion - 14 Astarial - 13 The World Assembly - Liberate The Security Council The current resolution up for vote has been offered to the region with slightly different voting options. Support for the resolution appears overwhelming. For, then continue laughing - 9 Abstain, to continue laughing - 0 Against because this isn't funny. - 1 - Repeal "Protection of monuments" 11 For, 0 Against, 0 Abstain - Condemn Grub 0 For, 11 Against, 0 Abstain - International Competition Law 5 For, 1 Against, 0 Abstain - Protection of monuments 1 For, 3 Against, 1 Abstain E-Army The E-Army has been busy chasing raiders around the NS world. From Pyoko, to Westdale, to Leckenby, and even The Universe. If you want to see the World, the E-Army has a billet waiting just for you. Recruit trainees are always welcome, and Officers are always plotting our next move. Foreign Affairs Activity in Equilism Foreign Affairs has been slow as we pass through our election cycle and Constitutional discussions. Newly elected Prime Mininster Westwind has expressed the importance of Equilism's presence and activity in interregional affairs and looks foward to working to improve our communications with our friends around the NS world. A more frequent update from our region to yours is one of the important steps in reaching this goal. Open Debate The long running favorite debate thread, "God doesn't work, faith is a trick" continues to be active as does "Humanitarian Intervention" , "Creation vs Evolution" , "History is cyclical" , and the new "A Reason to Believe". Anyone is welcome to join in our fine and respectful debates. Role Play Kubrickistan has taken up Bartending in the E-Bar, and returning member Vasilii (last seen in 2006) has been frequenting the E-Bar as well. A strangely squirming burlap bag still lays next to Westwind. The 5th Mission of Star Trek: Equilism continues. The USS Equilism was last seen encountering an unstable temporal-spatial anomaly disturbance, while the USS Salvador makes way at warp 7 towards the USS Equilism. The RP Government of Equilism sees former Prime Minister The Monkye cleaning out his office at the same time new Prime Minister Westwind is moving in. There seems to be a spatial anomaly going on there too perhaps. Kubrickistan and Tarlisea are known to frequent the Judicial Library as well. Fun and Games Phendarrah and Westwind started new games "Random Game" and "Don't answer the question above you". Old favorites continue to be active, such as "Who Will Post Next", "Three Word Story", and "Extreme Count to 1000 (x2)". Caption Contest #39 was won by Astarial for the following picture: ![]() "He tried, but ultimately Grandpa West just couldn't blend in with the younger generation. ![]() WA Delegate: Westwind Security Status: Guarded Having passed yet another Constitution, the Equilism Assembly is deep in debate on proposals dealing with Juror selection, the line item amendment, and the proper place of themed governments. The Assembly has 23 members at the moment, and hopefully more of them will chime in on the debates! Domestic Affairs: DA Minister: Tarlisea Deputy DA Ministers: Flexion, Kubrikistan The ever-secretive Tarlisea has hinted that the approach of Christmas will bring a new exciting celebration in the region. Unfortunately, our attempts to infiltrate his department to get more details have thus far failed. Immigration: Immigration Minister: The Monkye Deputy Immigration Minister: Neo North-America The Minister has announced his intention to hold a recruitment competition to bolster our efforts to grow the region. It will be open to all members of Equilism, so stay tuned for more details! Recruiter of the Week #47 is once again The Monkye. Pleas for someone to topple him from his smug perch on top of the jungle gym have as yet gone unanswered. Neo North-America has offered no statement explaining his failure to challenge the reigning champion. Believed to be adrift in the Pacific Ocean, last sighted in a kayak near the Phillipines, he could not be reached for comment. Foreign Affairs: FA Minister: Phendarrah Deputy FA Minister: Astarial The FA department is considering consulate, embassy, and/or treaty requests from Novus Licentia Terra, Feudal Japan, and Corporate, and is looking at our existing embassies and consulates to determine whose should be kept. Long-inactive embassies might be subject to closure, so we strongly encourage popping over to your embassy if it's lain dormant for some time. Military: Military Minister: Whamabama The E-Army has been active lately, most recently in liberating Milennium, The Dark Sphere Cabal, Utopia, and The Beatles. Keep up the good work, troops! In the World Assembly: The following resolutions have been voted on (Bold indicates the vote lodged): - Cultural Heritage Protection 5 For, 1 Against, 1 Abstain - Commend Goobergunchia 9 For, 0 Against, 0 Abstain - Liberate Democratia 10 For, 0 Against, 0 Abstain -Commend Anti World Assembly 3 For, 5 Against, 1 Abstain *Current Vote* - First Tort Reform Act 0 For, 6 Against, 0 Abstain On the Debate Board: There's been a fair bit of activity on our Open Debate Board recently. Perennial favorite God doesn't work, faith is a trick saw Flexion, Vasilii and Chaucerin busy, and The Monkye started two topics, on Holocaust Denial and the Copenhagen Conference/Climate Change. In addition, many Equilismers have expressed their disgust at Switzerland's banning of minarets in the Current Events forum. Role Playing and Games: There's been a good bit of activity in the traditional 'spam' forums too. In the European Elimination Thread, first round winner Ireland was eliminated first in the second round. A new RP entitled Trans-E-Vania was started, though it has slowed down after some initial action. Anyone who likes vampires or werewolves is encouraged to get involved. The E-Bar and the Equilism Anime Fan Club also attracted some action, with the E-Bar locking down in preparation for what looks like an outbreak of destruction with the return of Some Emo Guy. Caption Contest #40 has been started by Astarial: ![]() Anyone who thinks they've got a funny response to that is encouraged to post it And thats all for this edition folks, we hope you enjoyed it, so until next time! |

![]() Population: 169 Security Status: Guarded Announcement! We are hosting a new and exciting recruiting competition that will involve all regions who are interested in participating. This inter-regional competition is going to begin on February the 1st and end on February the 28th. Neither small nor large regions will be unduly disadvantaged, because the winner will be the one with the greatest population increase by number. This wonderful competition is being run by The Monkye, who can be contacted by telegram, or by PM or on our forum, for more information. The Monkye will need some help making sure all participants receive regular updates, so if you’re interested in being one of those helpers please let The Monkye, or one of our other members know. Please respond promptly if you want to take part in this mutually beneficial activity. Founding and Reunification Festival: The festival was kick-started by The Monkye who wrote the history of equilism chapters 1 to 3 project and he encouraged everyone on the forum to get involved but unfortunately not many members got involved in the wonderful celebration because of an initial masking mix up which was fixed fairly quickly. Treaty with Liberalia We are currently voting on the reaffirmation of a treaty with Liberalia to correct a minor change in terminology. So far 7 people have voted and all of them have voted ‘yes’, so it looks like the treaty will be returned to action soon. Immigration (The Monkye) Immigration has been the busiest of all the cabinet lately, organising the inter-regional competition and writing up the 2009 immigration review. Rumor has it that The Monkye might be organising a convention to discuss what can be done to improve Equilism for the future. Week 1: The Monkye won the recruiter of the week award with 30 nations recruited. Week 2: The Monkye won the recruiter of week award again with 40 nations recruited. Week 3: The Monkye won the recruiter of week award again with 105 nations recruited. Foreign Affairs (Phendarrah) FA has been mainly inactive lately due to Phendarrah being away for a while. The minister is writing up a list of job possibilities for the deputy minister to do, and this should be released next week and a consulate has been created between our region and the Democratic Socialist Alliance. Domestic Affairs (Tarlisea) DA has slowed down a bit lately and this issue will hopefully be solved soon. E-Army (Whamabama) The military hasn’t done much after Christmas. WA Results (Repeal) Liberate Land of the Liberals For: 2-0 and one against (still pending) Repeal "Stem Cells For Greater Health" For: 0-8 Liberate Free Thought For: 5-1 Liberate Land of the Liberals For: 1-8 Games and Fun A new game has been started by Phendarrah called Member Elimination, and other popular games include Who will post next?, European Elimination, and Guys verses Gals if you want to get involved. Role Playing Current role playing includes the ever strong The E-bar, while trans-e-vania has seemed to have gone a bit quiet. That’s it for this update. |

![]() Delegate: Kubrikistan, 36 Endorsements Population: 159 Security Status: Guarded Announcements and Other Sundry Behold! A new E-vent has arisen, courtesy of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs. Julius Caeser's Winter Festival! A combination between Roman and Winter themed activities, this festival will consist of many activities, including E-Wards (nominations are still open), the announcement of our new incentive system, and many other most exciting activities, including Gladiatorial Competitions! Come on over to our lavishly decorated villa and join in the fun! In the Government Discussions with the AoSS are still underway, though they appear to be winding down. Hopefully a resolution will be had soon! The Assembly is currently discussing two bills, the Endorsement Cap Law, and the Grammatical Corrections Act. The former obviously deals with the regional endorsement cap, and needs updating from its previous version under the previous government, and the latter is intended to address fixing minor insignificant errors, such as typos, in legislation. Up for a public discussion and vote in the Public Courtyard is the Charter for the Equilism Security Council, instructed to spread its message with resolutions of humor and wit. The intent of the ESC is to spark interest in the in-game WASC. World Assembly Results Universal Clinical Trials Act Against: 6-1 Commend Sedgistan For: 10-0 International Road Safety Act Against: 6-0 A Ban on Forced Disappearances Act Abstain: 5-1-1 Commend Yelda (Still pending) For: 2-0 Commend Antarctic Oasis (Still pending) For: 5-0 Repeal Disaster Preparedness Act For: 5-0 Museums of Musical Heritage Act For: 3-0 Condemn Greater Tezdrian For: 4-0 Commend Imagey Nation (Still pending) For: 5-0 Domestic Affairs The Julius Caesar Winter Festival is continuing apace, with voting on E-Wards having been started. At vote currently are categories for Best Newcomer, Nerdiest, Best Personality, Best Foreign Visitor, Best Foreign Ambassador, and Best Debater. The Miss Equilism contest, the Roman Olympics, and the Roman Murder Mystery will hopefully start soon. A new points system has been implemented, and rewards are being handed out willy nilly. Inflation, ho! Games and Fun A multitude of games have been active this week, including the ever-popular Guys vs. Gals, in which the guys are winning at 24 up. Shocking. In European Elimination, the Czech Republic is falling fast, likely to be knocked out soon, while Wales thunders along in the lead with 31 points. And in Post a Random Fact ... that's not actually true, things have taken a turn for the political. Oooh, let's watch the fireworks! Role Playing With the arrival of the AoSS worlds, Equilism's role playing area has seen a burst of activity. Worlds A, B, and D are based on the real world, the first being set in modern times, the second, historical, and the third an alternate version of reality. World C is set in deep space, and World E is one of fantasy and magic. All in all, it sounds like there ought to be something for everybody! Immigration In an effort to boost the region's population, the Immigration department is holding another one of its famous recruitment drives. The theme of this one is Roman Recruitment (in keeping with the Caesar Festival), and awards are granted for attaining numbers that are significant in Roman history. The number of nations an entrant needs to recruit for each tier are: 44, 195, 476, 753, and 1,229. Hyper Hippies is currently in the lead, with 220 nations recruited! Goooo, Hyper! Foreign Affairs At the pleading of the Immigration department, drooling over their phenomenal recruitment skillz, the FA Ministry has exchanged embassies with the Global Right Alliance. In an effort to get the ministry's regular updates up from once a month to once a week, and to standardize them for ease of writing, a template has been created. The FA department invites any member of the Cabinet to partake! E-Army The E-Army has seen action in The Proletariat Coalition, and Unibot, as well as helping our allies with missions. The E-Army also has welcomed one new soldier, and has an additional one in training. Quote of the Week: "There are certain things which I'm liable to mention quite often. Peru happens to be one of them." ~Grand Kierania ~Written by: Astarial~ |
