Yes, that's me in a toga.
Movies? I think Battlefield Earth, Glitter, Guest House Paradiso are contenders for the Golden Turkey category.

Fact is stranger, and often funnier, than fiction.........

I was walking down the main drag near my place. I'm holding 2.4 year old Jack-Jack in my arms, his chubby little arms wrapped around my neck as he chatters softly in my ear about everything he can see.

Coming towards us is a very large woman. She is short and extremely fat. JJ turns around in my arms, looks at her and points. In a clear voice and perfect inunciation, he declares,

"Biggest Loser! Biggest Loser!"

Bloody reality television.

(No, I don't think she heard him.)

Moof: raindrops spend years in lakes
Moof: streams
Moof: oceans
Moof: as groundwater
Moof: in glaciers
Moof: for years and years
Moof: but they live for those few seconds
Moof: those few seconds where they are free
Moof: they are alone with nothing but the wind and the birds as they fall
Moof: for just a few seconds
Moof: but that is what they live for
Moof: that is what they die for
Moof: that is why you should not be sad
Moof: because humans are 85% raindrops
Livestock: what is the other 15% tom
Moof: meat
Moof: raindrops and meat
Livestock: your words haunt me

getting ready to finish up a novel i've been writing so i can start flogging it to publishers and competitions, etc. what i don't get is how so much rubbish gets published and yet some of the world's most popular novels were thoroughly rejected before someone decided to publish them

opshops and bookstores are full of totally rubbish books - i'm sure i must be able to write better than at least a handful of them and yet i know i have virtually no chance of getting published unless i win a bunch of awards or know the right people (which I don't)

guess i better get over any issues i have with rejection

my story is locally-based, suburban crime fiction - with an emphasis on the suburban - in Arthur Conan Doyle's books, Sherlock Holmes frequently referred to the quiet, English countryside as the most likely place for crime and corruption, as opposed to the city and i've thought much the same about the suburbs of Brisbane, the Gold Coast, etc

my plan is for it to be a little dark, a little funny, but mainly a good read - needs a lot of work yet

Last day of uni for a few weeks!! Two assignments to hand in and then blessed freedom.

For about 24 hours when I remember how much work I still have.

Soccer Update
Last few weeks scores:
16:0
3:2
4:2
7:0
We have high hopes that we might draw tonight.

Actually this season of Misommer isn't really up to the same standard. Its a bit disappointing.

Lost 7-1 this week.

i'll take second-rate Midsommer over the football any day (waits for angry villagers to turn up with burning torches and pitch forks)

killed a cane toad today - on purpose - its one less canetoad but still it was kind of gross and a little disturbing to see how much fun Dash had helping me

i figure its a boy thing

I'd rather play indoor soccer to outdoor soccer . . .

Oh yes, definitely a boy thing.

Outdoor takes too long. And having a generation-y attention span, we can't have that now can we. Also I'm talking to a mate right now who just had to play in a thunderstorm. That doesn't really come up in indoor.
