Yes, that's me in a toga.
Yeah, you have to be careful with the intonations and the arrangement of words - trying to say "Hello how are you" may result in "Hello horse"

It is a little easier if you're also learning to speak and write Mandarin in Pinyin too.

Hey Sypons - where's my invite :P ? I apologise for disparaging Canberra. It's just me - I'm trying to stay on the straight and narrow whilst down here. IT's easier for me to run from trouble and hide in the streets of Sydney than it is down here :bananalama

yep, it's Pinyin all the way - speaking, reading & writing

i'm thinking about quitting my job with no notice - not a stylish move - still weighing up whether i can hang in for a couple more weeks or not

what i used to do before the corporate gig - special needs teacher aide

i work in different places but all sorts of kids - right from little ones to senior high school - some super clever, some just super sweet - i do behaviour modification, literacy & numeracy programs, etc

it's not a glamour job but it'll keep my crew fed while I study and, more often than not, the clientele are adorable :)

the pay is good and sometimes i get to play in the sandpit....I mean assist with physical and social therapy during the lunch hour  .

That doesn't sound too bad. I remember my old casual high school teacher - he was basically a fill in for any teacher who was sick at school, but was probably good at teaching PE - considering he was bit of a Bogan (in hindsight), he was quite a whimsical and philosophical chap.

Basically, he said "it's the journey son, not the destination", and "why the f*ck would you get paid a s*itload of money for a job you hate and kill yourself over?"

Very wise words.

Maybe because with a shitload of money you can buy things and significantly raise your standard of living?

ah, PK, you are but a youngling and have much to learn, my young apprentice

basically, I'm a go-fer - whatever needs doing, i fill in - never boring, always new and the kids don't get too used to me so all my 'tricks' for keeping things interesting (and keeping them from eating me for lunch) don't get old fast

at the moment, i'm avoiding the big high schools - PK, your peers have just about worn out my last nerve -

Anecdotal evidence shows that those in highly paid occupations such as finance, law and accounting experience high rates of depression, which is manifest in several ways - excessive alcohol consumption, illicit or overuse of prescription drugs, excessive consumerism.

PK, have you not seen Fight Club?
