There was a Gippsland falcons? How long ago?

They started off as the Morwell Falcons and joined the national league back in the nineties with moderate success making the finals one year, but got knocked out by South Melbourne, they ended up changing their name to Gippsland Falcons to cash in on the whole Gippsland region rather than just the Latrobe Valley, smart of them considering Gippsland has a population of about 300,000 and the Latrobe Valley only makes up about 80,000 of that. Anyway they started to go down hill in regards to performances this lead to smaller crowds, in a final effort to save themselves they changed their name again, this time to Eastern Pride. Finally they fell over and withdrew from the national league. Kind of sad, I went to their games all the time because I literately lived across the road from their stadium. Oh and B&B your thinking of the Gippsland Power who are in the TAC cup, interesting to note that they were the first Aussie Rules team to be called Power as far as I know, well before Port Adelaide named themselves that, Gippsland calling itself Power because they are based in Morwell smack bang in the middle of the power industry here in Victoria.

I am now on IT helpdesk, amongst other aspects of my job

Oh my giddy aunt - there is no cure for natural stupidity.

Scenario:

email sent to me:

Subject - Error
Body reads - "There is an anomaly on my screen."

No other information provided. Apparently, because I am customer support, I am supernaturally gifted and can diagnose an error with absolutely NO INFORMATION AT ALL!!!!

Wishful thinking: I respond with - "YOU ARE AN ANOMALY!!!"

Realistically, I print out the message, stick it to the WALL of SHAME in my cubicle and send a darling email where I use all my natural charm to request further data.

nothing interesting

today sucked - worst day ever this year

did a great day's work soothing frazzled customers and solving problems
tonnes of customer queries and i'm the only one who came in to work today and it was probably triple the volume of calls and emails that come in when everyone is there

juggling things as best as i can
supervisor calls and starts telling me off for stuff that isn't my fault
not the first time this has happened

once i get off the phone, i burst into tears (quietly :) I don't do noisy messy crying in public!)

i've never, ever cried at work but then again, i've never had a boss like this one
seriously considered quitting
decided to sleep on it

time for a ninja special night-cap - a couple of mycindol for the headache and a large glass of Baileys, straight up

i shall be oblivious to today's events shortly Posted Image

Yes, that's me in a toga.
I am not looking forward to work tomorrow. Enjoying Canberra Day public holiday, but f#@k me it's going to be a horrible day at work tomorrow. Today's public holiday has just put off the inevitable, and increased my workload for tomorrow considerably.

If its any consolation, I'm quite enjoying uni because of the minimal work load. At least in comparison to actual work.

whinge #3 for this week

i received my uni subjects in the mail this week

the Mandarin unit is massive
and my Chinese history class has 25 lectures that I have to listen to, one essay due every week

I love the language and the study but work has got me down and it seems to be effecting everything

Sypons, while you're not using yours much, can I borrow your brain?

probably just time to quit having a pity party, get things in perspective and get stuck in

Hmm, that may get it out of the way with the weekend coming up. Minimal damage to the brain as possible.

Mandarin eh? My folks tried to get me to learn some form of Chinese (Cantonese speakers), but I bitterly resisted learning Mandarin at a Chinese Presbyterian Church on a Sunday.

Basically, I felt like it was my god given right not to learn Chinese because I am in an English speaking country, and that it was my god given right not to work or do school stuff on Sundays.

Feeling stupid now .

 not as stupid as I feel practising my tones out loud! I think Mandarin is a beautiful language - very elegant and complex - but not when I'm trying to speak it :rofl still one day I may have a half decent grasp of it and that will be useful

heading off to China at the end of the year for a few weeks to torture its unsuspecting victims with my newfound phrases! Chinese/Australia international relations may be undone in one fell swoop of a mispronounced character :P

um...Sypons, exactly what are you doing on the weekend and how do I get an invite? :D
