Today's Random Thought: It seems to me that in the media, the result of this year's US presidential elections is a forgone conclusion, and that the only variable that has yet to be decided is who will be the next US president out of Hilary Clinton and Barrack Obama. Is it just me, or is it the case that there's some manipulation going on (especially on behalf the media)? |

Oh, no, it's not just you
there has been massive amounts of manipulation by the media - forget anyone else who might be in the running for President - the media has provided Obama and Clinton with all the publicity they need. And of course, there's been the ever-lovin' Oprah to lend her not-so-subtle endorsement for Obama. Forget Chuck Norris or playing the saxophone, Oprah is prob the most powerful media figure in the US - I'm not surprised that normally fiesty, never-say-die campaigners like Rudi Gulliani decided to give it up. You can't beat that kind of clout.

I am not a huge fan of public transport. Bus or train, tram or train. I give me the quiet, solitary interior of my own car any day. |

I prefer solitude too, but I like to space out and think my inner thoughts. Which is not good when you're driving a car (in my case at any rate as completely forfeit any concentration with the task at hand). And Canberra is not a big place, yet the public transport here ain't too great. |

Newcastle barely has a functioning public transport system. And don't get me started on Coffs. That was tricky for 10 weeks without a car. But Muttonbird island was nice, its going on my favorite places list. |
