Random thought. I actually learned something informative on Today Tonight. Very strange, or perhaps my brain's still up in Sydney partying away whilst I'm back at work in Canberra. |

I think Today Tonight is... a putrescent mass, a walking vomit, a spineless little worm deserving nothing but the profoundest contempt. It is a monument to stupidity, a curdled staggering mutant dwarf smeared richly with the effluvia and offal accompanying its alleged birth into this world, abandoned by the puke-drooling, giggling beasts who sired it and then killed themselves in recognition of what they had done. I barf at the very thought of it. It has all the appeal of a paper cut. Lepers avoid it. And did I mention it smells? And what meaning does it expect its delusional self-important statements of unknowing, inexperienced opinion to have with us? What fantasy do its producers hold that they would believe that their tiny-fisted tantrums would have more weight than that of a leprous desert rat, spinning rabidly in a circle, waiting for the bite of the snake? It has no rhythm. It is ridiculous and obnoxious. It is the moral equivalent of a leech, a living emptiness, a meaningless void, a disease, a puerile one-handed slack-jawed drooling meat slapper. On a good day that show is a half-wit. It reminds me of drool, deficient in all that lends character. It has the personality of wallpaper. It is asinine and benighted, spreading misery and sorrow. ok i'm done for now

....but there's more
I cannot believe how incredibly stupid that program is. I mean rock-hard stupid. Dehydrated-rock-hard stupid. Stupid so stupid that it goes way beyond the stupid we know into a whole different dimension of stupid. Today Tonight is trans-stupid stupid. Meta-stupid. Stupid collapsed on itself so far that even the neutrons have collapsed. Stupid gotten so dense that no intellect can escape. Singularity stupid. Blazing hot mid-day sun on Mercury stupid. It emits more stupid in one second than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. Nothing in our universe can really be this stupid. Perhaps this is some primordial fragment from the original big bang of stupid. Some pure essence of a stupid so uncontaminated by anything else as to be beyond the laws of physics that we know. I'm sorry. I can't go on. This is an epiphany of stupid for me. After this, you may not hear from me again for a while. I don't have enough strength left to deride TT's half baked comments about unimportant trivia. Duh. ok, now I'm really done btw - most of my tirrade was creatively supplied by the clevers at lindquist.com |

Several years ago, me and a few mates were together to kick back and watch some DVDs. We stopped the DVD so I could pay off and collect the goods from the pizza man, and the boys had tuned into Today Tonight. It was about a 'dangerous' 'fierce creature' 'terrorising neighbours'. The full black and white treament along with the sinister music. Cut to footage of the beast in action...it was fat, lazy cat. Some hyped up neighbour who probably tokes up and pops pill several times a day lodged a formal complaint against her neighbour and the 'vicious' cat in question with the local council, citing that she suffered '70% damage' (whatever that means) and was whining on about how her life was being consumed by this demonic pet of Satan. What made it more interesting was her proof on video camera. One clip was of her prattling away about the cat, gasping in shock and over-embellishing every movement the cat made as being 'ferocious'. In reality, it was just a really fat cat sleeping on washing machine, who slowly popped his head up to look at the camera, before going back to sleep. At least Today Tonight was smart enough to call the council referred to by the neighbour (who clearly dropped some acid along with her camera in one clip when the cat 'charged' at her). The concil official acknowledged that he received the letter, but pointed out that the same neighbour had made 'frivolous claims' against other neighbours as well. And this whole saga was the main story on the show that night. Me and the boys were pissing ourselves laughing. |

fair call - TT does occasionally provide some light entertainment
i have a passing interest in journalism and i'd love to do an expose on the 'journos' who work for TT - I bet that its the last thing they thought they'd be doing in the beginning when their ambitions were new and shiny or a reverse TT - "Shock! Horror! Anna Corin doesn't recycle!" "Channel 7 terrorises single mother!" |

http://z3.invisionfree.com/Australia/index.php?showforum=142 ok, crew, the fantasy RP thread has been updated and Gipps has kindly agreed to stop gatecrashing the thread with his fraggle-rock fantasies I've cut and paste our previous posts into one story so take a minute to review where we've been and then pick up a thread and continue or create your own thread in this tale. |

Back on the TT issue though... i think your expose would be illuminating. its amazing how peopletwist their values just to get some cash. they either performed dismally at uni from partying too hard or were too lazy to form some good industry networks.... maybe also from being to high or smashed to talk coherently enough to relate to other people... But again... i think i would rather be writing for some crappy local newspaper...or...even a GOSSIP mag, before i would ever entertain the idea of moving over into the dark side of today tonight... do u know what i find funny though??? i have often watched that show around those who are gullible, naive, superificial have no life goals etc etc and its amazing how they soak up the crap they present without second guessing it. my step-mother for instance.... sigh.... i feel sorry for those kind of people. |

i have to agree - critical thinking is on the decline, in my view the amount of times i've suggested to ppl that they question what they see/hear/read, etc, and they look at me like i'm an alien ah but maybe I am |
