Its a quote from a tripod song really but I really couldn't think of anything more interesting so I just did the song that was playing at the time. Now its something about singing and drowning. I personally thought the two were mutually exclusive. |

Today's Random Thought: Just watching "Comedy Inc: The Late Shift" on the Comedy Channel, and they had a pisstake at the 60 Minutes Mailbag, and I quote: "We can't get rid of him. Unfortunately Richard Charlton is contracted until the middle of 2006" This episode was recorded in 2004. Richard Charlton died mid-2006, while reporting for 60 minutes at Beaconsfield. It's pretty scary how sometines you can pick up on unintentional predictions from the most unlikely places (especially in hindsight). |

5%? That sounds like a pretty good lecture. Last we we found out how to integrate something that is a function of its own second and first derivatives as well as its own function. Differential equations are fun. |

All I will say to you, dear friend & prospective student & future parent, is this...... university is easier than raising children but raising kids is more fun As I'm doing both at the same time, I find they take the sting out of each other :). You'll do just fine - just keep your expectations realistic and learn how to sleep with your eyes open. RANDOM RANT - - in my life, I have come across a number of people who express themselves in an aggressive manner ie. loud voices, close proximity, accusatory language, etc. Generally these have been children or teens or intellectually challenged adults and it hasn't been much of an issue. Part of me always seems to respond in a calm, considered manner, taking into account the circumstances and influences that have brought about such a response. I have tended to continue to work with the individual either personally or professionally to find a way to connect in a less aggressive manner. 99% of the time, the behaviour settles down and life goes on with the individual knowing that a relationship with me, at least in part, depends upon them speaking to me in a reasonable manner, etc. Just basic good manners type stuff.But.....when an intelligent, well-educated, well-travelled individual starts to communicate with me in an unprovoked, aggressive way, it just pushes all the wrong buttons. I have no considered response, no sense of patience or compassion, all I want to say is "SHUT THE HELL UP!". Essentially I want to respond in kind. I have had this happen recently and it just pisses me off no end. I can't seem to say a word without being completely misunderstood, even in the most ridiculous of circumstances. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm being baited but I feel a little out of my depth because I'm just not used to be being spoken to like this by another adult. Arghhhh!!! Anyhoo, rant over and out

That is a problem, you can never be sure how intelligent they really are. You can't tell if they truly are an idiot or whether they are just playing you. That said, it can be fun to have people not knowing how smart you are. In other news, went to the kombi festival today. Twas grand fun. |
