You lucky son of a gun. Many congrats to ya!

And of course zombies procreate- are not zombies still human in many respects? Surely they too desire earthly pleasures, although eating the brains of the living may be a rather dubious pleasure to engage in...

Random rant -

what is the deal with guys wearing their jeans around their bums???

Recently, I've seen skater types, emo types and generally pretty average looking types in ages that look like anywhere from teens to late 20's wearing their pants not just below their hips but below their bums!!!!! It's all held in place by a very tight belt and a weird way of walking.

Why in the hell would anyone want to hang their bums out of their pants? Isn't that the purpose of pants? To cover your bum and bits?

I'm sure there is at least one person on this board who wears their bum out of their pants or has friends who do the same so I'd like an explanation.

I'm a fairly socially behaved person but I have been feeling incredibly interested in running up behind one of them, dacking them and then pushing them over. They wouldn't be able to get up to chase me because they'd be stuck in their weird belt/pants/boxer shorts mess of an outfit. I reckon it might make a good youtube video actually and I think I know just the person who'd be keen to get involved.

*waddles off cackling evilly*

A freight ship just ran aground at Nobby's beach in Newcastle. Like about 5 minutes ago. The weather is really that bad here.

yeah, it's pretty bad here, too - the rain has gone away but it did top up the dams with about half a week's worth of water which is great but now we have the wind - freezing cold - it's been over 26 degrees here every day for ages but suddenly the temp has dropped and it's very chilly

on a random comedy note - my current fave comedien is David O'Doherty - I have seen him live as well as on the telly and I adore him

I recently set up a myspace page and added him as a friend, left a message re how much we enjoy his comedy and..........HE LEFT ME A COMMENT!!!!!!! A real proper, conversational, not computer generated, comment! Oh my gosh!! *goes into total fan-type girly hysteria*

It may reveal the depths of ordinariness in my life right now but I don't care - I was very chuffed :) but I'm not going to stalk him.......really, I'm not

Wow, I'm impressed. People have been complaining about how theres been 70 ships off the coast recently. Now ones aground and a further three are in trouble.

Wait, apparently Newcaslte is in a state of emergency or some such. This is much more interesting then maths.

Ahem, we are now in flood. Pretty well then entire Hunter region is in flood. Most of the city is without power until next weekend. We had a Category 1 Cyclone here last night.

I win. Whatever your weather stories are from the last two days, I've got worse, or better depending on how you look at it.

(BTW, likely no power, might not be here much this week)

EDIT: nm, we're a natural disaster zone now.

My head is cold from the Canberra steppes. Well, it feels like Canberra has steppes. I bought a beanie and thick gloves. Now my head is too warm and too dizzy from the varying temperatures. Will have to do without the beanie.

Does anyone else find Howard's plan for Aboriginal communities incredibly offensive?

I mean seriously, it just reeks of final solution or stolen generation.

My 'for'.........

1. It will take serious policing, medical aide, etc., to stabilise these communities and weed out the people who are deliberately using children for sex - this is happening within the Aboriginal communities as well as children being traded for sex with white workers fom nearby mines, etc - not to mention the violence, drug and alcoholism, malnutrition and lack of education - it is a serious matter and help for the vulnerable is well overdue.

My 'against'.....

1. these issues are very old - it hasn't suddenly reached a crisis point, the crisis point was years ago

2. molested Aboriginal children are mainly abused by adults within their own families or their abuse by others has been facilitated by family members - what programmes will appropriately address their needs or the needs of these families? will the perpetrators go to jail like paeodophiles? Six months of a 'stabilisation process' is woefully inadequate to address such a dire situation.

3. Domestic violence, drug & alcohol addiction, molestation of children and neglect of children is not an issue that is the sole domain of the socially disadvantaged or the Aboriginal community. My concern is that this current govt move gives that impression that Aboriginal communities have no care or concern for their children or their futures. This is patently untrue.

Additionally, sending military in is the wrong way to do it. The parents hiding their children for fear of another stolen generation are entirely justified in my eyes.

On a slightly lighter note, I went to see Bridge to Terabithia yesterday. It was an excellent movie and I recommend that everyone get out and see it. That said, without revealing the plot, this is not a kids movie at all. If you want to take your kids to it I suggest that you go and see it yourself first and think seriously about how mature your children are. Personally I would say 14 is about the cut off.
