Letters from Iwo Jima is like a companion movie to Flags of out Fathers- only from the Japanese defenders' point of view. Quite interesting and accurate viewing. The fact that not every Japanese soldier was a die-hard suicidal maniac, that they were not all necessarily brainwashed in their actions, that there was conflict between the crazy suicidal ultra-nationalists and the 'Westernised' but rational ultranationalists, and that their defence was just as heroic as that of the Americans that landed there. I would hardly think it is a revisionist tale, as director Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg would not glorify both sides of the fight if therw wasn't at least some truth to what happened there. I saw Shooter last night with Mark Wahlberg and a few other actors such as that guy Boris the Blade in Snatch, the still hot Rhona Mitra (the hottie in Ali G in da House), Murtaugh from Leathal Weapon, and others along the way. For what it was worth, and given that I haven't seen movies for a while, I did think it was pretty good. What you see is what you get, so don't expect a fluffy 18th century drama or a postmodern deconstruction of industrialised society- it's a I-fought-for-the-country-and-the-government-pissed-all-over-me revenge movie. Well worth it. |

We could make "I-fought-and-died-for-a-country-that-hated-me-and-all-I-got-was-this-lousy-headstone" line of products. On that note, what are everyones plans for ANZAC day? |

I realise that no one else here probably cares in the least but I need to post this somewhere. <EXPLETIVE> WIZARDS OF THE COAST CAN GO <EXPLETIVE> THEMSELVES. Thank you for your time. |

Wizards of the Coast? What have you been drinking/smoking/dreaming? I not drinking at present, still on a self-imposed alcohol ban. Not cool. Am home, but at least I'm doing what I like best- chilling out and relaxing. Just not at a bar of some sort. Getting old, am actually starting to prefer chilling than going out on a bender/dry wrteching session. |

No no. Not drinking. I was just a little annoyed with Wizards of the Coast cutting the license to produce both Dragon and Dungeon after 30 years when they were at their best and most profitable. |

random thought...... first parent-teacher night with my daughter's teachers @ high school apparently she is eccentric and brilliant, entertaining yet hard-working and the darling of all her teachers I came home and told Violet that all her teachers said she was a horrid, awful student who needed to stop tormenting her teachers the little monkey's self-esteem is so intact that she didn't believe me for a seconddarn this good-parenting caper, it takes all the fun out of baiting your kids |
