Yes, that's me in a toga.

Leaving for Canberra tomorrow! My sorry ass will be down there for several months, several years or all eternity. Will see how things are played out. And as for these punk kids nowadays- they all deserve a dose of national service. That'll set 'em straight (or horrifically merely teach them how to fight and shoot weapons, escalating their anti-social behaviour). Or perhaps we could institute something similar such as a Battle Royale scenario (if anyone's seen this Japanese movie they'll know what I'm talking about). I live (for another 24 hours anyway) on the East side of Sydney, so it's not as prevalent I guess. Or just not as public. There's just no respect from younger people these days, that's for sure. |

Good luck Schnapps.
Meh, we're having enough trouble with this whole aging population thing anyway. We'll already be working to 70 to support you all. I don't really feel like working another 20 years to support all the cripple, emotional and otherwise, that would result from Australia having a large army and our loveable little despot. *Steps down off soapbox* Well, I'm done. Now everyone tell me why I'm an idiot.

you're not an idiot, sypons dear. although, with any luck, having a large army would mean a few more premature military-type deaths, and less of a population for us kids to grow up supporting. in regards to random thoughts: boys suck. thankyou and goodnight. |

i have no doubt the sentiment can be equally true of both sexes on occasion, having been a particularly obnoxious teenage girl once upon a time

I'm going to leave that one alone
.My random comment for the day - I heard a newsreader say 'lengthification' in regards to a railway track. I'm guessing at the spelling as I didn't think that was a word. |

it'll only be a matter of time anyhow, doing a degree is a great way of practising, you get to use tonnes of redundant words that other people made up

Random thought for today - I was interested to hear that QLD Education Dept has plans to return to 'streamed' classes instead of mixed ability, starting with prep [our version of kindergarten, pre-year 1 schooling] [FYI - streamed means students are grouped according to ability, mixed ability is what currently exists here and is exactly what it sounds like]. |

Tasmania for the 18th AFL License!
|
Here in Tasmania, they have mixed abilities classes, and compensate for this through the Essential Learnings programme. However, instead of pushing for academic excellence, it seems to me that it is bringing the general academic standard down to a level that is making further academic endeavours impossible due to the fact that many teachers are content with teaching the bare essential concepts through theme based learning, which usually misses out on more important factors neccessary for further academic endeavours. Here ends the rant. My random thought: Pinky Beecroft commentating a 9-ball competition on the ABC! What the . . . ? |
