I think that imagery could well apply to the rental market here in BrisVegas, too, it's just insane - occupancy is well above average and there are often bidding wars in order to secure a home - it's like the advertised price is the starting bid and you should expect to pay $10-$50 more per week depending on who else is going for it

Today's Random Thought:

Yesterday at the cricket, I was called an Englishman by one of the police officers

Not happy, Jan!

I know I had a fair bit of sunscreen on, and my face looked like it was face-painted white, but to call me an Englishman . . . Posted Image

Anyway, I watched the highlights package of the game on Fox Sports 1 late last night, and me and my mates, that went to the game, were shown on the Channel 9 coverage 15 times throughout the New Zealand innings. We were on the hill, on a blue blanket, enjoying the fine products from Carlton Mid . . .

Today's Random Thought :

Dylan Moran

watched his stand-up last night on ABC - 'Monster'
loved it

Got a Ricky Gervais stand-up DVD, also, but haven't watched it yet

yes, I am in dire need of a good laugh

If you liked the Dylan Moran DVD, you should also watch the Bill Bailey stand up DVD.

Yes, that's me in a toga.
Doing double shots of schnapps on the minute, every minute, for 15-20 minutes was, in hindsight, a very bad idea.

And so is having to leave your own farewell party earlier than most of your guests due to aforementioned act of stupidity.

I still had a good time, and given that I was probably going to go karaokeing afterwards (if I was still upright), my early departure may have been a saving grace

no, i didn't but you're right, 'Monster' was great - i'd never seen Dylan Moran do stand-up before and I loved it

I watched the Ricky Gervais DVD but it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be - maybe my expectations were too high - i love to watch him in the Office and Extras

Did anyone see Black Books last night? Is it just me or is Bernard going a bit soft? He didn't seem to be his usual, completely unpleasant self [which I quite adore] - as if he'd really care about trying to write a children's book, even to win a bet? Seemed a bit out of character but again, I may be a little overly critical of my beloved Dylan.

I loved his first, 1000 page effort, at a children's book. :D

something quite random happened to me today

i saw a boy [maybe 15,16] hassling a younger guy [looked about 12,13] - he picked up his bike, threw it over a fence, slapped him in the head and face....etc

i beeped my car horn, got the big kid's attention long enough for the little guy to grab his bike and take off - the big kid had a few choice words for me but i think he got worried and actually tried to tell me that the little kid was his friend and they'd just been mucking around

i thought that was a bunch of crap - 1. the younger kid looked scared 2. he took off fast as soon he could [i figured he would have hung around if they were mates] 3. i've seen guys play fight and wrestle but they've never slapped each other in the face or the head [not without it turning serious very fast] 4. generally you don't try to break someone else's bike

i don't think that was mucking around at all but maybe i've missed some obscure section of the male code of conduct!

Yes indeed I was there, on the hill with my music teaching friends . . .

As for Ninja's comments, I see this happen a lot around the municipality I live in, and it's a shame that this anti-social behaviour is spreading quickly amongst the next generation, and the generation that are quickly following them (referring to the survey that shows that more teenagers are engaging in sex at younger ages).
