Slightly more interesting than tofu, if you're into that kind of thing.

I like lychees. I don't like Durians so much (aren't they banned in the Phillipines? I heard that Gloria Arroyo loves them and went on a durian binge the last time she went to Singapore. For those who don't know, these fruits stink like death, but actually taste half good, and make for an interesting icecream.) I have a 25kg limit, but I have about 50kg of stuff, so I have been boxing stuff up and posting it back. Makes life easier, that way. I have to move out of the apartment in one week (I wish it was earlier), so I need to pack now. I am giving away or throwing out so many things, my speakers, my wineglasses, my jeans, my coat... I fly back from Düsseldorf to Dubai, then I get 10 hours stopover in Dubai (I have a hotel room fortunately), and then Dubai to Sydney, where I get picked up and driven back to Canberra. I then turn around two days later and head to Sydney again to pick up three exchange students. Todays Random Thought: I will start getting into the role of Regional Minister in the next few days, I have just had a nasty exam and am still recovering. Don't you hate it when the tutor say that you won't have to remember all the equations, they will be on the exam, and then you get to the exam and there are no equations. And there is three hours worth of questions with only 90 minutes to do them in. At least everybody else seems to have done as badly. I am praying for scaled scoring. |

Wew all understand the shifting trauma. I've just moved after renting for 18 months ! W put out own house on the market expecting a long drawn out sale and it sold in 3 days for the price we asked...which was exhorbinent[spelling] They wanted a 30 day settlement so we threw everything in boxes and stored them in the garage and spare rooms of our rented place. It's been hell on earth unpacking. Lots broken plus nothing was labeled [ I was working and hubby was packing...men !] get arund to the job when yu can hun, and GL with the shift. Across the ocean is a BIG move! |

I must admit, I have no idea whether Durians are banned in the Phils. I've never had the opportunity to try it, but its supposed to be one of the nicest fruits around, just ignore the horrible horrible smell. No direct flights from anywhere in Europe to Canberra? Gee, the last thing I'd want to do after a long flight from Dubai is spend another three hours in a car. At least you got somewhere to crash in Dubai I suppose... I'd be shopping |

Oh, I am doing that as well... Dubai Airport has surprisingly cheap vintage whisky for a Muslim nation. And if you are not into that, they have a store where you buy gold by the weight and quality as opposed to the design. Very popular with the Indian tourists. Driving to Canberra usually works out cheaper and faster than the plane from Sydney. Oh, and I got some wonderful news from Australia this morning. I just got offered a rather hefty scholarship for my honours year, so I am well pleased. |
