When I was a student, I telemarketed. I got rejected a lot. Almost as much as when I went to the bar... <_< |

wtf is going on???
|
yeah i suppose the money is good...in australia but most of this type of job is being outsourced to india now, where it is a great achievement to be a telemarketer. the telemarketers over there have university qualifications, and for many of them its their lifelong dream...over there the big corporations can get away with paying them lower than our minimum wage. oops sorry im getting a bit serious, for random thoughts anyway |

reminjds me when we had some mormans come visit us once. They said they wanted to talk about God. I informed them he was on the couch at the time, having a beer and watching australia kick arse in the swimming pool [ was an olympics at the time] They laughed and left |

Yes, that's me in a toga.

Myself and a few friends were having a quiet night in a few weeks back, and I was ordering pizza for dinner. I could've sworn my call was patched through to some outsourcing centre in India, because I could hear all sorts of crazy clicks and beeps on the phone before some person with a thick Indian accent picked up my call. The pizzas were probably sent out from India, because that's how long it felt before the pizza guy arrived with our delivery. And Mormons never bother me at home. They see the little red Buddhist shrine outside the main door and walk away. |

Outsourcing to India is becoming a Big Problem here in UK. It's not telemarketing but Call Centres that are the problem - even the Old Directory Enquiries is 90% staffed & located in India.... They mean well and it's probably NOT their faults that they don't know that Edinburgh is in Scotland and NOT England, Ireland or Wales. It's not now possible to 'have a crack' with the operators either, because when you start getting subtle or jokey with them they tend to freeze up. Like, .... "were going to Aberdeen for the weekend, can you give us the number of the nearest B&B to Union Street or Grt Western Road, 'cause we're going out clubbing and if we don't pull we don't want far to walk" gets greeted by a repeated but more flustered ask of the original question 'is Edinburgh in Scotland' They do Stats on the performance of these call centres, but right now anyway, it's based on calls cleared NOT people helped ! - taking jobs away too ! Mormons I don't know - But recently when I was cleaning the stairs of our old flat so's we'd get our deposit back, the 'Jehova's Witnesses' arrived at the door .. ... lookin' for any excuse to have a break, I started chatting to them - really telling them why I didn't believe in this and that and in particular how I hated it when different religions clashed liked 'My God's Bigger/ Better than your God' stuff whereas they should realise that although they believed in different ideals that they had the fact that they were all spiritual people in common ...... ... well, the J W's were really nice - spoke to them for over an hour and they DID answer some of my questions - purged my soul/ conscience that day !! But THAT'S NOT WHAT I CAME HERE FOR ! - can't believe I've prattled on for so long. . . . ;) I found a silly Game (p) With Penguins and Stuff (p) which made me laugh and I came here to share it with you - Not for Serious Gamers, but I LOVE the sounds. |
