I miss Sashimi. There is only one place here in Bonn that does it.

Dammit, my head is aching, and my jeans reek of cigarette smoke. Somebody went to a German uni party last night. Good fun, but I should have laid off the Kölsch.

Do you know what club your friend is playing? I might know it.

well, I wouldn't actively seek out to consume raw fish, but thought it was in the interest of participation that i would do it. and now I can say that I've tried it, at least!

I have no idea what club we're going to... I'm just along for the ride. I'll let you know when we get back on Saturday :) lol, I didn't know there even was a nightlife in Canberra :P

There's a nightlife in Canberra?

Oh, I am not feeling good. My second seminar was a disaster, made a slip up in the talk and got ripped to shreds by the lecturer. I hope I haven't failed the class, that would suck. I think I will go do some exercise and get some sleep.

Yeah, I was surprised at that too....

So... now I'm preparing to dive into my last day of work for the year. I highly suspect that this day will be a bit of a write off, since I'm not exactly in the mood for work today.

*prepares for a day of bludging* :D

Yes, that's me in a toga.
I feel like heading down to the Lowenbrau at the Rocks for some good German beer and a big plate of good, wholesome German food. With a trip to the Pancakes! place for dessert a block away. Not the kind of lunch or dinner that is friendly to the diet-conscious :D .

Hey JB, since you're in Germany perhaps you could help me here. I've been looking for a particular kind of German beer but I haven't a clue what it is called. But it is distinctively dark and tastes smokey. Know of it mate?

Got my uni results today...I keep my DN average! Not so good is the fact that the result for my pre-honours course is withheld because the mark isn't finalised. A little disconcerting if it wasn't for the fact that other guys in that class have had theirs withheld too.

One of my hubby's favourite things to do is go deep sea fishing for yellow fin tuna of the coast of Fiji.
We get to eat all the sashimi you casn ever want plus have tuna fillets and cutlets for the next few days. The last one he caught was a 20 kilo beauty. We barbecued most of it.

Lowenbrau on the rocks? Not wallet friendly either, at $15 a Maßkrug. Makes Oktoberfest look like a budget destination (well, actually, I did Oktoberfest as a budget destination, but I had to travel 11 hours each way by local train, crash at a friends place and only buy one beer and steal the glass it came in as a souvenir, but it only cost me a total of $50 to pull off...).

I think the beer you are after is Altbier, which is a Düsseldorf speciality that I haven't tried yet but know its descrtiption. I believe this is the one you are after, as opposed to the Dunkelweisen of Bavaria, which is still slightly sweet in flavour. Whether Lowenbrau serves Altbier or not I am unsure, but they are a Bavarian brewery, so I doubt that they would.

But Kristallweisen is a top beer, and that is Lowenbrau's specialty.

Random thought:

I don't want to go to class today. Want to sleep some more. At least it is Friday.

Sounds nice....never liked fishing myself, kinda a waste cause I live by the beach eh? Ah well.....I was surprised about a nightlife in Canberra also, but I guess there must be some young people, if there wasn't who would run the "drive thru's" where the polys get there horrible coffee from? :P

Well we do have five or six universities, so there is a student life. You just have to know where it is, which nobody knows.

That said, I have to say it is much better than the night life in say, Sutherland Shire, south of Sydney. Considering that the so-called cool place to hang is the RSL at Cronulla and it close at 12, it bites.

When in Canberra, check out the Wig and Pen, it is a small Pub at the West end of Alinga St in the City, does its own beer, and it is damn good. Quiet too, because all the public servants are dumb and head to the faux-Irish PJ O'Reilly's on the corner. Which leaves those in the know getting good beer in good company.

Random thought:

There are two people in the apartment block across the road looking out the window towards my apartment block. Creepy. Maybe the headphones I am wearing (because my laptop speakers do not do justice to the vocal qualities of Tori Amos) look like I am connected to a wiretap.

So... I'm back from my canberra trip! Our friend played a really good set, and thats a lot coming from me since I don't actually like trance. The place was called the Red Gecko, a kinda dingy little place akin to another I've been to in Kings Cross called Icebox.

lol, there were some extremely trashed people there. One particular woman I would wager had absolutely no idea where she was. For me, I didn't stay out too long. Its strange how taking a long drive makes you so tired, and I'm not the one who was even driving! Of course, it was pouring rain all the way down to Canberra (typical, since we're supposed to be in a drought) which made driving quite difficult.

We did pass a rather crowded Irish pub down there JB, and I thought about how every Irish pub I know has to have an 'O'. As in, O'Donohughes, or P.J. O'Briens.

Canberra also kept striking me as a very well planned, clean city. This morning we went for a walk around the lake, had a drive around (I was guessing the buildings and I was right most of the time!) before heading back.

I don't think that the fact I don't have to work for three and a half weeks has hit me yet. Maybe when I get on the plane on monday, when I'm supposed to be at work

Schnapps, congrats on the upkeep of D average, I know that you're smarter (and perhaps more diligent!) than I am :D

Red Gecko? Don't know it, is it south or north of the lake?

Damn, I dig trance quite a bit. Not the drug side, but just the sound, good trance wires me up.

Canberra is a beautiful city - people shouldn't get the impression it is a political town - the politicians hardly ever come here, only for parliament. Even our prime minister doesn't live in the lodge, he lives up in Sydney, which is a bit like having George W. Bush live in Texas instead of the White House... wait, he actually does that.

This morning's random thought:

I feel hungover, but I haven't been drinking. I stayed out late until 2am at a friends watching Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Watching a director's cut of a film in German is hilarious because the added sections usually never got translated, so the extra bits stick out like a sore thumb becuse the actors suddenly switch to English. Some sections are barely one or two words, it was funny as hell.

I should get some breakfast before I go out to lunch...

Random Thought: I hate networks....I worked my arse off today trying to first install the card and then fucking about with it for most of the day.

Other random thought: I'm sick, have a headache, poor, deserted by my friends, angery as hell and partialy hungover. My life cannot suck any harder.
