random thoughts, oh shit what if I get really bad year 12 results :mind:

You get bad marks. But it's not the end of the world, unless you had you heart set on being a heart surgeon.

All you have to do is pass, and pass english if you want to qualify for uni. An arts degree is easy enough to get in as long as you pass your subjects.

Sciences are slightly more difficult, but as long as you pass a couple of science subjects, you're right

hey well english was one of my best subjects and I did two sciences, and IM definant I passed them, yeah so should be okay

Yes, that's me in a toga.
...and if you kick ass enough in Arts, you can apply for a transfer into, say Commerce, or do psychology through Science, if you had your heart on doing them.

Uni's never the be all or end all, although when you're doing your HSC it sometimes feels that way (it did to me).

I've got my staff Christmas party coming up on the 2nd :shots: but the theme this year really sucks- 'Fairy Tale characters'. WTF? I wonder what genius thought that one up? It's too much effort dolling oneself up for fairy tales. Most of us preferred black'n'white. Simple, clean cut, elegant.

Anyway, I'm doing my fashionista thing again, and I don't give a toss if it works out well or not. I'm going as a Chinese or Japanese fairy tale character- either as a Chinese warrior (like Jet Li's character in the movie 'Hero') or pretend to be a Japanese 'Ronin'.

Most of the work for the past 2 days, and for the subsequent days until the party is on making the suit of armour. Got stackloads of empty cardboard boxes from work, cut out the basic shapes (body armour, sides, leggings and 'metal' platings affixed to them), spraypainted them, and am going to have to make a sword sheath, and somehow put it all together with bolts, wingnuts and double-sided gaffa tape. If I can, I'll post what I ended up looking like for the piss-up (don't know how to do that, and I think photo ID on this forum is not allowed)

I've been drawn into playing those geeky computer-LAN games recently. I don't crave it, nor am I good at them (am usually a good decoy or cannon fodder) but I don't mucking around for fun every now and then. Those nutcases who play them every day for 10 hours straight really boggle me at times. Why get so damn good at Counterstrike/Star Wars/Half-Life/Desert Combat/etc when there are other more worthy pursuits to follow? They're going to get brain cancer being in front of a computer too long and too often.

I would suggest a combined degree in Arts and Science: then you can focus on your two main science subjects, and do english literature and another Artsy (fartsy :P ) course to make up a second major.

Although it will take four years, you'll ended up with two degrees, better pay and job opportunities. Especially, if you do a teaching degree afterwards. Elite schools always favour people with multiple degrees.

Multiple degrees = More Money B)

For goodness sake reub, just register on the boards again :P or use princess purple or whatever :P

anyway, yeah, that thing that is usually on your left hand should be a major deterrant, no matter how nice you might smell!

Schnapps: If i was going to my work christmas party this year, the theme is 'Pirates' and is being held at the National Maritime Museum, Man, I'm going to be looking forward to seeing those photos next year! Most people have tended to be reasonably enthusiastic about the Christmas party, so it should be a good one.

I like the 'fairies' theme! Still haven't seen Hero, and I keep meaning to, I suppose I'll get a chance when I finish my last exam tomorrow.

I also happen to agree on the computer games thing. It never really clicks with me on why you'd try to be so skilled at something that doesn't amount to much (except for an ego boost or if you were a professional gamer).

And not-so-good HSC marks are definitely not the end of the world, it just means that you may have to go the long way around to get where you want. And you might even find you prefer something else along the way! Theres always a reason for everything.

*is completely baffled by what she suspects is an inside joke between Choc and Reub*

*also wonders how Choc knows Reub smells nice but doesn't want to ask*

... errr so Pork... from what I did see of Half-Life 2, it has pretty awesome graphics! Theres even a really cute chick ;)

Hell yeah....I'm waiting 'till I go to Vietnam at the end of the year to get it however because I know a really good computer software pirating market in Hong Kong....anyone want a spare copy of windows when I go???

Halflife 2 definately has great graphics, and while it technicaly isn't as good as Doom 3 it has a much broader area of situations to deal with, unlike Doom 3 which is a very focused and refined game.

As for the gaming skills - its a hobby, its a great feeling to go to a lanning joint with your mates and see them scream with rage when you put a well placed bullet into their skulls and can bag them all the way home on the train.....although it might not seem like it, gaming is actualy very social and has developed to the point where we have our own little language. in the end its all about having fun.

Now, I must be off.....my last day of school tomorrow and must prepare for much partying on the weekend! :D

Friday afternoon's random thoughts:

I have an exam in less than three hours. And I can't be shit bothered studying.

Yay - going out tomorrow night!!!

I can't believe I just had a nap at uni on the lounges.

How on earth am I going to kill the next 2 and a half hours or so?

......

*twiddles thumbs*

I have red hair!

Argh the air conditioning is so bloody cold in here!

Why do I think about so many things at the same time?

I should probably eat something. Not Macca's. No. I won't do it. Even if its only just down the road. Dammit. :burger:

Incidentally, the lean beef burger happens to be quite nice!

Can you guys tell I'm procrastinating?

*mindlessly taps the desk*

Here's how you look away. Watch the final episode. That will put you off the show forever.

I wish I had something fun to do this afternoon, but all quiet. I suppose I should enjoy it. Maybe take a nap or something.
