Can't say I've heard of it, but anyone who hasn't read the disc world series by Terry Prachett (28 books and counting) Hasn't lived...Think fantasy crossed with monty python. |

the arabian nights was always going to be about that JB. Now if you want something interesting...look at Anne Rices stuff. Especially her bdsm stuff. The beauty trilogy is awesome. They were written under the name A N Roquelaure. |

Well, I got my haircut. I had to wait 90 minutes before somebody realised I had been there since 1pm, and then I got my cut. Whilst I managed to avoid a mullet or a fauxhawk, I can't say I am enamoured with it. I look weird. Kinda like an Vulcan extra on the old star trek episodes. Well, at least it will grow out, and at least it only cost me €5. And I also got to finish Arabian Nights (finally), with yet more jinnees, kings and broken maidenheads (and whoever wrote this seems stuck with using only one description of beautiful people - faces like full moons - every king, maiden etc. same description). Good bloody riddance I say. Damn, it is 5pm here and it is already dark. It is messing with my head really bad. |

1) Because you unconciously fear that they may actually do it in real life. 2) Because really geeky people play them 3) Reason 2 and 1 combined 4) Many lonely, singles men play them for days at a time 5) And that they spend that time by themselves in their bedrooms, not seeing daylight for weeks 6) Because the games in question cause the players to delve into realms of antisocial and immoral escapisms (the concept of escaping to a fictional fantasy) |

You get bad marks. But it's not the end of the world, unless you had you heart set on being a heart surgeon. All you have to do is pass, and pass english if you want to qualify for uni. An arts degree is easy enough to get in as long as you pass your subjects. Sciences are slightly more difficult, but as long as you pass a couple of science subjects, you're right |

I believe it has something to do with the lack of control over the movement of the image on the screen - with games like Doom et al, the change of perspective is rapid and disorienting. I think the frame rate of the image has something to do with it as well. It is more common than most people realise; I get the same sickness as well, also on amusement park rides where the image is computer generated, but the cabin moves about. Since these things cannot simulate gravitational pull, the body becomes disoriented and nausea sets in. |

I had this thought because I was watching my bf play the new Half-life 2 game that his brother bought over the weekend. He doesn't play games often, but I find when I see people playing first person games like Doom or Quake or Half-life that I get really dizzy. I even noticed that when I (tried to) play the game I tended to turn my head as I went around corners JB is right - its a terrible disoreientation thing. I was still dizzy a few hours later, and this was just from watching! Unfortunately, I'm utterly prone to motion sickness. The first few times I rode in a car I was known to throw up each and every time... :puke: |
