I spent all of my summer at home working.

Its winter for me and it looks to be the same.

I wish it was summer again over here as it was dark at 6 tonight. Sooo depressing and cold. It must be less than 10C out there at mid day now. I hate Autumn, winter and the bit of spring before anything happens. Bring back May and June, my favourate bits of the year. When it warms up but isnt too hot. The skimpy tops come back out and I can sit back on the aphitheatre after exams with my friends drinking cider... ah I miss summer....

I've just had a 4 day break...weekend, Monday as personal PD day and Melb Cup Day. yeah for short weeks.
I've spent every non teaching moment and then some sitting on a selections panel after two new coordinators and done yard duty inbetween in the rain!
Mum has just been carted off to hospital in an ambulance and I have 144 reports to write....after I;'ve marked the shit load of assignments, writing, reading and maths stuff piled on my desk.

think I'll go to bed

i feel sympathy towards teachers towards the end of every half year. theres always assignments and reports and kids and other teachers and all sorts of things to deal with before the year it out :(

on the other hand, they get 12 weeks of holidays a year....

ty for all the kind words abut mum.
They let her come home today...seems her heart fibrilation gave her a little turn for the worst. She's feeling better todat though and promised both her doctor and me she'll rest for a few days.

1 weeks of holidays ? I wish. The kids might get that At Lantis but certainly we don't. I spend at least 2 days of each mid term break at school doing preparation for the new term and having team meetings. That doesn't include the corrections and research at home. In Victoria it's lucky to be 11 weeks also, and if you take out the public holidays everyone gets like Christmas, New Year and Easter, it's probably only around 9 weeks.

Still a little tired from hanging out with some longboarders all weekend - went out to an Irish pub in Köln last night to watch Australia beat Scotland in the rugby. Nothing like a few pints of Guinness and a rugby match to cure homesickness...

Had to go drop the longboarders off at the airport this morning, it took nearly two hours to get back home.

Went to a gig last night. Guildford has a very strong punk/harcore scene. Lets just say that the events included a wall of death and crowdd surfing and these included a mattress someon ehad found in a skip!

twas mad. SUpposedly non drinking, being at the youth centre, but with all the beer going round we ended up visiting sainsburys and buying drinks anyway. Went to bed at 6am.....

9 weeks?! Thats luxury! thats more than double what I get (I only get 20 days, or four weeks a year, not including public holidays).

on the other hand, although I like children I'm not that great at teaching... so I suppose everything has its ups and downs....

four or five weeks is standard in the private sector... its not too bad i suppose, but seems small in comparison with the education sector!

I can't even get one week of work, let alone worry about holidays!
