I think the weirdest name I've ever heard of is...

Moon unit Zappa. Yes. That is a real person. Its sick isn't it?

I know some lesbians....never seen why people give 'em a bad rap, they can be just as bubble headed and bimboish as any other girls.

PS: What makes you think that Westy? Tell me...I'm interested to hear this particular theory....

my mother works at a local hospital and she reckons they come up with some shockers for names. I mean, Andrew Andrews - what kind of stupid parent would do that?!

I think that sexuality is a choice, both for females and males. And if most females are supposedly bisexual whether they know it or not, then I gotta figure that applies to males as well.

On the sexuality note, did you hear about that article where they reckon that 1% of adults are 'asexual'? i.e. not ever remotely even attracted to anyone of either sex? I suppose thats an option too....

oh, possibly. They say that. I belive there is a scale for all people from completely straight to completely gay. Naturally there will be larger cluster at the straight end, cos, lests face it, 100% gay people arent as likely to breed. So I sort of agree. I know a few slightly bi guys... its just that most bi guys that arent almost entirely gay prefer girls. Because, well right now its easier to have a relationship, get maried and actually produce children. Girls arent the same in that respect. I know a lot of guys who admit to being bi, but prefer girls for those sorts of reasons.

I dont think sexuality is a choice. Not true sexuality. Anyone can have gay sex, but it doesnt mean that they are gay.

Yeah, the lesbians Ive seen were my RE teacher and the French teacher at secondary school. They were really nice people, but they did kind of meet the stereotype nicely.

I wouldnt say they get a bad rap, just have an innaccurate reputation. Its jutst that I know what kind of reaction people would make if i just said she had a girlfriend. Lots of lesbians are rather stunningly beautiful too Its a loss to my half of the species....

Richard Head. A priest infact.

Now, heres an interesting thought - is sexuality a choice based upon chosen preferences, or is it imbedded in us, perhaps genetically?

(We might as well be asking the question "Do we have free will or is everything that happens our destiny that was always meant to be and something that we cannot avoid?")

I thought I was asexual once, but then I got laid.

That's all I am going to say on that subject.

I Robot ended up being in English, and okay, it was standard hollywood action film tripe, but actually good because they managed to rip the good aspects out of all the other hollywood action films, and stick them together in the same film, so if you get the chance, go see it, it is good. However, I couldn't help seeing similarities to Men In Black. Certain scenes are just serious reproductions of that film. But Men In Black was an okay film so I am not complaining.

The other film was Kin-dza-dza, which was a 1986 Russian low-budget sci-fi comedy and was very weird. The less said the better.

I spent most of the weekend laying around in pain, icing my knee and feeling sorry for myself and having a small relapse of a virus I got a few weeks ago. I could use a hug.

At least it is Monday now, which gives me something to do, even if it is uni work, which is just not motivating me at the moment.

And since it is Monday, and I haven't had an espresso to turn my brain on, I am not going to put in an answer to At Lantis' question about predestination vs free will. Scientists and philosophers alike have been duking it out for centuries to no avail, and if you think I am going to put in an opinion without the stimulus of caffiene, you're mistaken. :D

No dude, 'asexual' just means no attraction to having sex at all. The freaky sh*t that you were implying e.g. necrophillia, beastiality, those who get turned on by smothering themselves with food (thank you Jerry Springer for enlightening the world on that one) has absolutely no resonance with them, it might even make them even more contemptuous of those who are 'normally' sexually active i.e. with other people.

I, Robot was surprisingly good with a fairly decent plot and enough suspense to redeem the fact that the product placement was a little too heavy. Like his reference to the 'vintage' 2004 Converse shoes "...a thing of beauty".

I'm not going to be drawn into predestination vs free will either. That kind of debate gives people around the world severe intellectual wedgies. But on average, I think most people will take a relativist position and say that it's probably a bit of both.

True point, but I still want those shoes...

Oh yeah, here's a good piece of info for those who don't already know it:

Strawberry schnapps is not a lady's drink; don't be put off by the colour. Strawberry flavoured schnapps packs a mean punch, and is much more fiery than your common varieties (peach, butterscotch, and my favourite: apple).

I was at a wedding for a former workmate who's married to a nice guy down at Kingsgrove, with a stunning reception over at a place called Doltone House in Sylvannia Waters. To prepare myself for the reception (I'm not a fan of the champers or white wine but there's no guarantee the reds will be there) I carried a hip flask of strawberry. One only has to wet one's lips on it to feel the effect of the strawberry schnapps. It was an absolutely magnificant day, and I was looking damn good in my semi-formal lounge suit.

Only problem was, I should've spent the weekend doing my thesis proposal draft. Oh well.

I can imagine.... :D

Anyway, as for sexuality. Animals are gay or bi. My friend has two bissant frise or whatever they are called, one was gay, and the other wasnt fussy (litterally, dog, bitch or hat... it didnt care).

I think its pretty much natural therefore. It just seems that way. Why would anyone choose to be gay after the ancient greek era? Makes no sense if its choice.

I think ppl supress their sexual desires sometimes. Society has deemed what is acceptable and what isn't , so we tend to like what's going to be smiled at, even when perhaps it's not making us happy .
One day I'll elaberate on this :)

Think I know what you mean. But i still think that like the animals, only a certain proportion of people arent completely straight. Could be larger than we think, but I dont think its too close to 100%.

The free will question that I posed was more of a rhetorical one, because I know quite well that there is no answer that we can prove. How on earth are we supposed to know whether, at this point in our lives, we got here by our own will, or we were supposed to be here all along? It makes my head spin.

However, the question on whether sexuality was a choice or genetic is probably one that is a little more debatable.

Doc, Schnapps explanation of asexuality is correct. It refers to having no sexual attraction to either males or females. I suppose you could think of it has having no libido (sex drive) at all. These kinds of people would rather drink a cup of tea.

(Lets not even step into the world of Jerry Springer...)

Maybe sexuality is influenced by society. Actually, it would be silly to think that it wasn't. But people seem so much more enlightened these days... (except for those extreme right wingers I suppose)
