we r bunch of AP engineers woking on Automizing Carrier based landing !!!!! This is real zinks! aircraft technology grew manyfold, Arresting system improved slightly....but, The basic technique of arresting an incoming fighter AP using Arresting Cables has NOT CHANGE AT ALL SINCE THE DAYS OF WW-2. Ask any navy poilt ..."how sticky ur balls feel when u attempt to land on a carrier, specially at night?" Most of you can imagine! (some might know it by heart also).. We can make a laser-guided bomb to fall at the disignated place precisely and airplane can be made to land on a runway in zero visibility (fogy morning!). Given that state of technology, why have we never attempted automizing Carrier based landing (where whole lot of an airplane is to be guided-controlled perfectly until at surely catech the wire)? Answer my current question....before I pose the real one next time. |

Who are you developing this system for? Do you make satalite guided weapons aswell as laser guided munitions? Are they not more technologically advanced? As to your question i dont know why? Maybe their is some kind of electronic guidence system to land planes on the US carriers im not sure, im surprised if their is not some form of electronic aid to the pilots? Will try to do some checking if you wish? |

Just to expand on the carrier landing system, these are currnetly in existance and improvments are being made. Qinetiq have recently developed a push button landing system and have tested it on HMS invinsible. Harriers were tested using the system and trials were a success. (try bbc news for info). VAAC (Vectored-thrust Aircraft Advanced Control) is being developed for the JSF. France uses a slighly different syaytem for the rafles, i think its known as a microwave automatic landing system? This is different than the VAAC or push button landing system as rafles dont land on the carrier vertically like the harrier ect. Dont know much more about the french version maybe u could enlighten me? |
