7 countries(Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States) participated in RIMPAC 2004, including 35 surface ships, 7 submarines, over 100 airplanes. They were divide to two groups, Yellow and Blue. Yellow had 4 surface ships, 4 diesel submarines- Jangbogo (s.Korea) Narushio (Japan) Ramkin (aussie) ˇ¤Simpson (Chille) and US's LA class nuclear submarine. Blue had 15 surface ships including john C stenis aircraft carrier, and 2 US LA class nuclear submarines. Blue had 4 US's aegis destroyers (2 cruisers) to protect carrier, and 4 of Japanes destroyers (No aegis) + all aircrafts including P-3C (anti submarine aircraft) Result was stunning. a tiny S.Korean diesel submarine (German 209 class) decimated every Blue surface ships (except 2 nuclear submarines) however S.Korean govnt didnt want to intimidate China and Japan so they tried to put down its effort in RIMPAC 2004. official site of rimpac http://www.cpf.navy.mil/rimpac2004/ |
