PRIMETIME SPEAKS ON MAKING HISTORY By Bill Banks On Wednesday night, three days after pulling off one of the most daredevil moves in wrestling history at Turning Point, “Primetime” Elix Skipper appeared on the “Between The Ropes” wrestling radio show to discuss the Six Sides of Steel Match. Below is what Primetime had to say about the brutal and bloody bout, “the move” and the reaction after the match: ON PREPARING FOR THE MATCH THAT NIGHT - “It was a great feeling and an honor…knowing that they (TNA officials) trusted us enough to put us as the last match…we’d done it before and were going to do it again. Everyone kept asking if we could top the first cage match. That wasn’t our intention. Our intention was to go out there and have a great match, but I think we ended up topping the first one.” ON WHAT HE WAS THINKING DURING “THE MOVE” - “I’m climbing up top…I’m sweating, I’ve got blood all over me – I wasn’t sure how high up I was, and I didn’t want to know. All I was concerned with was getting up in that corner and how I was going to walk across…the landing was the last thing I was worried about. As I was coming down, I knew I had to spin really quickly to land right. After I hit I did the full body check to make sure my fingers, legs and hands were still working…I was breathing and I was alright.” “Before I did the move, I got mad at first because I tried to stand up and fell a little – and all I could think to myself was “Man, I hope I can do this”. Then all of a sudden I just popped up and took off because I was getting mad thinking about it. I just did it” ON AFTER THE MATCH - “Before I made it to the back – the fans are screaming “Thank You” and were so appreciative of what we did. Then as we’re going up the ramp, we turn around and see half the locker room out there congratulating us. A lot of people in the back thought I was crazy to try that, but to me the move was years in the making. I always wanted to walk the top of the cage and didn’t get that chance in our first cage match against AMW. But it was my chance to do something that nobody had ever done or will ever do again” |
