WWE, JAKKS TEAMING UP FOR CHARITY With a lawsuit pending between the two, World Wrestling Entertainment and JAKKS Pacific are teaming up to raise money for charity with limited edition action figures. The makers of the WWE action figures, will provide 5,000 never before released Hillbilly Jim figures which WWE will sell on the second annual Road to WrestleMania 21 Tour. All proceedings from the sales will go to the Make a Wish Foundation. The Road to WrestleMania 21 starts on January 21st in Stamford, CT., and will make stops in 15 major markets. "The release of this limited run, highly collectible Hillbilly Jim figure will serve as a terrific piece of memorabilia for longtime WrestleMania fans and new collectors alike," said Jeremy Padawer, Director of Marketing-Boys Action, JAKKS Pacific. JAKKS TO LAUNCH NEW WWE GAME IN 2005 - A new kind of WWE game will hit the market next year thanks to JAKKS Pacific and their TV Games technology. Today JAKKS announced a worldwide licensing agreement with WWE to develop and market WWE TV Games, a plug-it-in and play gaming system with multiple games based on WWE Superstars all in one single controller. WWE TV Games will feature new games based on top WWE Superstars from the past to the present. All that is needed to play the TV Games products are batteries and a TV -- no videogame consoles or gaming cartridges are required. Simply plug the TV Games product into the A/V jacks of any standard television set, turn it on and play! The lightweight, compact, all-inclusive controller houses a combination of videogames with all of the hardware and software built right in. More at jakkstvgames.com WWE FIRES BACK AT JAKKS PRESS RELEASE OF NEW WWE GAME After the press release was issued earlier today by JAKKS Pacific announcing the new WWE TV Games, WWE issued a statement in response to the press release saying that the amendment was signed in July of 2004 at a time when WWE was still gathering facts related to the matters set forth in the recent lawsuit. The statement also says that JAKKS did not seek current authority from Donna Goldsmith, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products at WWE, whose quote was also included as part of the press release. WWE says that at the time Goldsmith approved the quote, but it no longer remains the view of Ms. Goldsmith or the management of WWE. The quote in question was, "JAKKS has demonstrated its expertise in developing WWE products that epitomize our brand and which are compelling to our fans. We are excited to expand the WWE brand by combining its unique personality with JAKKS' exceptional TV Games product to effectively extend the WWE experience into an even more broad world of gaming." |
