I have some questions about Retail.

1. Does Retail cost anything or is it just the ordinary blockland?
2. Why does so many good people go there? What's so special about it?
3. Read above questions.

And dont answer like "1. it sux 2 it sux even more 3 you sux", please.

1. It costs 20$. You pay once, and you have your ID lifetime.
2. Dunno what's special, read features at the blockland.us page, don't ask us. I don't like - u don't have the building abilities u have in RTB(scaling, rotating), the community is mostly retarded - most of its players are <10 year old kids, who ban you for just coming into a server, or for having high ID(rofl). When they don't have arguments for some discussion, they ban you instantly too.
3. Read above answers

1. Retail costs 20$, but you can get demo of it. There is brick limit and you can't go online with it.
2. New and shiny. People follow their friends to there.

Edit: Damn I'm slow

1.OrdinaryBlockland they just call it Retail.
2.Well it has a way better engine then RTB so you can build 100,000+ bricks with no lag and also spawn 100's of vehicles with no lag. erm... Also themain fact is that its more easily found than RTB. if u try lookiing on Returntoblockland.com it just tells you about retail.

3.Repeat Reading of parts 1 and 2

(ilari beat me while i was typing this )

And flood well ofcourse it could be filled with >10 year olds its a lego based game

Android, if someone likes LEGOs, it doesn't have to mean he is >10.
I still understand u, it can be filled with >10, but why don't their parents teach them some discipline... They don't tell them, that these kids are talking/acting towards a real person on the other side -.-

I know that but like maybe there parents dont discipline then and maybe also there paarents think its a harmless game which it is imean if they are >10 they cant get sweared at as there parents can turn on the swear filter and just leave it as that...
so the child can just play endlessy having fun =D and lets say they don't know what the meaning of a Ban is... I mean comeon flood whenever we do something wrong you have a really long bitch at us...

Wait, so that blockland over at Blockland.us is the same as retail?
Isn't retail the one at returntoblockland.com?

well, I'll define question one. It says over at returntoblockland.com that you'll need Blockland v13. That's the one that cost $20, right? And than retail is just an addon/mod?

Oh and the lightning does look good. *drowl*

Question #4. WHY ARE THE HEADS BOXES?

Retail means original, the newest. And the newest version is Blockland v13, so we call it Retail, when our old RTB 1.045 is a mod for the old Vanilla(as it is called) Blockland.
Vanilla Blockland = Old Blockland
Retail Blockland = New Blockland

RTB 1.045 = Mod for Vanilla
RTB 2 = Mod for Retail Blockland(Which u can find at returntoblockland.com)

It's nice to see this community giving an unbiased opinion on Retail Blockland.

Important features (VS RTB 1.045):

Retail is a very nice game. It has a system called "brick events", which allow you to program individual bricks from inside the game, using a gui. This allows you to do some really complex things without creating a single script.

Retail also include client-sided physics for blocks "killed" by an explosion. In RTB 1.045, these bricks simply fade away. In retail, they are blown away as physics objects. You can collide with the physics objects and move them around, but they will never block your path from anything.

Retail includes advance brick lighting and particle emitters to give builds some fancy effects.

There is an active modding community, and a speedy mod delivery system (RTB 3.2). People create a script or weapon or whatever they make, upload it to the RTB servers, and you can download a mod from ingame and use it without running a set of console commands or restarting your game.

Community (VS this one):

The community of retail is not that bad. However, retail includes a system where players can see your ID number, which effectively identifies your date of joining, but nothing else. Some server host discriminate against new players, so don't get frustrated if you get banned for your "Newbie lol gtfo mah fase".

There are plenty of scripters and modellers, who contribute both high quality addons (like the JVS content system, and SpaceMods) and general crap. Addons uploaded to RTB are moderated somewhat, but it's mostly up to you to not download "master chef hat lololololadfsg;ukh".

Modding (VS RTB 1.045)

Mapping has become no harder, and the newer engine version allows for bigger maps with hundreds (literally) of interiors.

Modelling is the same as it is with RTB 1.045, but the community expects any model produced to include flat-shading and a blocky style. Don't release before you get some feedback from normal players.

Scripting is a big issue with people who don't like retail Blockland. All main scripts are compiled into DSO files, eliminating a lot of modding possibilities, but keeping the game files secure and idiot-proof. Certain main functions have also been locked down. This makes the scripter's job a bit harder, but many things can still be done. Most scripts now focus on delivering weapons, vehicles, or added events to the events system.

Building (VS Blockland v002 and it's mods):

The main difference between v002 and retail Blockland is the style of building. In retail Blockland, you are unable to move bricks off the grid and rotate and scale them. This makes building harder in some cases, but gives builds the lego-ish feel the game was designed for. Systems like events and particle effects may be hard to learn at first, but offer huge possibilities to a build once you have learned them fully.

TL;DR
It's a good game, but quite different from 1.045. Buy if you like lego style builds and nice effects, but aren't that interested in scripting fancy mods.

Retail means original, the newest.

Retail is defined as "the sale of goods" or "to be sold" so it actually means "Blockland that you pay for".
...in bed.

Some people hate Retail because it "destroyed" v0002, which is kind of the point... RTB is a mod for BETA Blockland.

I choose to think of it this way, it's just another game. I have no reason to hate it, especially because I've never even tried the demo. I'm sure the community isn't that bad, besides, every online community has it's own problems.

Most people in this community (although apparently no the ones on this forum) don't like Retail because it costs $20.

Cheap bastards.
