Thank you Ali for bring up this immensly important point. It is soooo annoying! It annoys me more when I see it's not observed even in some formal texts such as newspapers, magazines, coursebooks, etc. By the way, "it's maybe a typo" sounds very awkward to me. I'm not sure whether it is incorrect though. I myself would either say "maybe it's a typo" or "it may/might be a typo." If anyone has anything to say in this regard, please go ahead and let us know. |

But their meanings are completely different, then. You're aware of it, aren't you? May it be a typo means that you hope it is a typo. |
