INCORRECT
(Ara)
1. i prefare that (than) being called by last name..
2. actually dorm is not (as hell as) what ahmad said

(By Ali)
3. I fear (ladder).

CORRECT:
1. I prefer that (to) being called by my last name.
2. Actually, (the) dorm is not like the hell Ahmad described.
* The structure “as … as” is used for adjectives, not nouns.

3. I fear (ladders).
* You are referring to a countable noun in general (it’s a very recurring mistake here).

To Fatima:
The verb (drown) can be used both transitively and intransitively.

He (drowned) in a boating accident.
* Drown (intransitive): die by being unable to breathe under water:
Many animals (were drowned) by the tidal wave.
* Drown (Transitive): cause to die by being unable to breathe under water:

INCORRECT
(By Ali)
1. Both of the above make (much) tech problems.
2. There's nothing to (laugh).
3. I have a reasoning why this equality should (be).
4. The basis of my thoughts is different (than) most (people).

(Anonymous)
5. She hasn't asked us to (rip up) the first pages of tactics.

CORRECT
1. Both of the above make (many) tech problems.
* “Problem” is a countable noun
2. There's nothing to (laugh at).
3. I have a reasoning why this equality should (be there).
* “Be there” = exist
4. The basis of my thoughts is different (from) most (people’s) OR (that of most people).
* You contrast “things” with “things”.

5. She hasn't asked us to (rip up) the first pages of tactics.
* Phrasal verbs are very tricky.
RIP UP: tear into small pieces.
RIP OUT: extract by ripping.

LITERAL PHRASAL VERBS
Most phrasal verbs with a literal meaning refer to a new condition that is caused by some action. So it goes like this:
(Previous condition + [Action + Particle] = New condition)
There are different verbs you can use to talk about the action but the particle (preposition/adverb) that you use has to be consistent with the previous and the new conditions/situations/locations.

Here are some particles with their opposites:
On ^ Off
In(to) ^ Out (of)
Toward ^ Away from
Through ^ Over
Up ^ Down

Examples:
On^ Off
1. A man is (on) a horse. There are different ways this situation can change:
By pulling him off the horse (the horse is the reference)
By pulling him down (the ground/we are the reference)
By shooting/kicking/pushing … him off the horse

In ^ Out
2. The pages are (in) the book.
The student can change the condition by
Ripping/biting/tearing/cutting … them out (of the book).

* I have discovered these rules by myself and they might not be 100% accurate. Strangely, I have never seen these rules explained anywhere. So if you have a book where these or similar rules are explained, please let me know.

Thanks a lot. I only remember saying one of those, but I'll try to remember them.
I don't think that people accept the fact that life doesn't make sense. I think it makes people terribly uncomfortable.

Life is very, very complicated and so films should be allowed to be too.

We think we understand the rules when we become adults but what we really experienced is a narrowing of the imagination.

(By Maryam)
It (sent) me (much) energy and (hopefulness).

My Suggestion:
It (gave) me (a lot of/lots of) energy and (hope).

* As far as I know, the verb "give", rather than “send”, collocates with energy/hope (but I don't really know where this sentence appeared. It might make sense there).

* The word “much” is rarely used in positive sentences and is usually for questions and negative sentences.

* “Hopefulness” is grammatically correct but to make the sentence parallel, I would use “hope” instead.

Thank you Mansour. :D
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on.
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?

Then it's maybe a typo.

It's a good idea to press space once after puctional marks.

Just look at these:

Incorrect: Blah blah blah, blah blah blah.blah blah blah;blah blah!blah blah?

Correct: Blah blah blah, blah blah blah. blah blah blah; blah blah! blah blah?

It's good to use punctuation marks in the first place!
