[align=center]![]() "Only a fool makes threats he's not prepared to carry out. If I were to threaten to hit you unless you shut your mouth, and you presumed to speak, what do you think I would do?" Notorious amongst the Kithain, his early exploits added a romantic legendary to the tall and austere Duke of Croy, such as the kidnapping and ransom of Lady Sierra Ni Gwydion. His outspoken pro-Unseelie advocacy in the Parliament of Dreams has garnered him as many allies as enemies. Some say he had a hand in the undoing of the beloved High King. His dark eyes seem to follow his prey, and he does not make a pretense of showing his contempt for those who lack any sense of tradition. Liquid night and aristocracy of old drips from his lips when he is moved to speech, but he is a cautious and wary man who ponders his actions before setting his plans in motion. Unashamed is he of being Unseelie, a dark and bitter reflection of the Summer Queen, once betrothed to him and lost just as long ago. He never married, though through separate mistresses, has seeded his legacy in his two sons, Ankou and Carrick. Ankou is his heir apparent, while Carrick is given to the task of overseeing his less charitable interests. Some would claim that he has little care for his Queen, but there is not always truth in rumours. Along with Baron DiMarcos of House Varich, and Countess Emigrey of House Eiluned, he set aside court and House rivalry to form a secret cabal that rallied the Ritualist and Purists of the Shadow Court into backing Aurora, and foil House Balor's plot to return the horror of the Red Court into the world. What he had not expected was the Pixie's negligent refusal to share the Throne of Seasons. Coming from a House that had been at the vanguard of the Accordance War's winning side, the Ailil Duke sent emissaries to every freehold he could find. Commoners met with these heralds with sometimes-violent opposition but the grandeur of the Sidhe combined with Kedrick's reassuring, egalitarian rhetoric won Ailil numerous victories. Over the decades of ruling Croy in her name, Kedrick began to consolidate his resources, waging a silent battle hoping that with time the reckless Seelie Duchess would come to see her folly. When she married the mortal who was not even a dreamer, but a potentially lethal Cognoscenti, Kedrick found his last hopes for an equal rule spurned. With that blow still ringing through his wounded pride, he did one thing that he saw as an ultimate act of decency. He withdrew his support of the court, raised his Hue and Cry, and sought the return of all the Unseelie to his duchy. Next came the refusal of taxes and tithes, the trades he had long honoured the court. Finally, standing a bastion of patience, he declared war on the freshly crowned Queen and her Autumn Husband. He renamed Croy amongst his own vassals, calling it the Duchy of Winter's Discontent and appointed himself it's duke. His greatest victory thus far has been the defeat of the Queen's Champion and Her army of Rangers and Horselords, by way of his sons' guile, and the subsequent capture of Heir apparent Prince Kyle. With the Wilder keeping time in the hospitality of Kedrick's dungeons, Rasphale has been able to bargain with Aurora. The Queen's sister has been betrothed to Ankou, and the Loremistress of Amethyst has been reminded of her Oath to wed Carrick. Kedrick now looks to the fulfillment of all his plans, and regaining the dark half of the year as King of the Throne of Seasons. ============ In his mortal seeming, Lord Rasphale is a tall, lean man of stern countenance. Polished and elegant, he wears his dark hair short, his age-lined face kept clean shaven. Suits of impeccable tailoring adorn his long limbs. In his Fae mien, Kedrick is tall and lanky. Everything about him suggests harsh angles; the lines of his face, the narrowness of his shoulders, the sharp slope between his waist and hips. Even his face is angular, with a long nose, high cheekbones and sharp chin. He is a paragon of dignity and austerity. Flowing grey locks fall to his shoulders, and he is prone to keeping a trim beard and Vandyke goatee. His age shows in the crow's feet and frown lines that mar his obsidian eyes, his lips are thin, and his skin is the hue of aged parchment. Still, he is quite handsome in a brooding sort of fashion, and Kedrick has yet to find a lack of willing young beauties to take into his bed when it suits him. While some Fae would be mortified, in a hurry to spend glamour on their visages, Kedrick is quite proud of his appearance, and believes that there are far worse things than wrinkles and scars. He is proud yes, but not exceptionally vain. That he leaves to House Leanhaun and Fiona. Still, Kedrick takes meticulous care of his appearance. Aside from the deliberate sartorial choices, he is obsessed with cleanliness. One might guess from his stiffness of habits that he is uncomfortable in his own skin, but this is a lie. His natural posture leans toward arms folded across his chest, classic body language. His voile consists of dark silks and satins, as impeccable as his mortal garb. He wears his sword Icefang when he must, and refuses to wear a mark of his rank short of the winter Crown. ============= Court: Unseelie Unseelie Legacy: Ringleader Seelie Legacy: Gadfly House: Ailil Seeming: Grump Kith: Sidhe Concept: Oppressed Noble Court Title: His Grace, The Duke Adeg-y-Lleuad, Lord Law of Croy, Lord of Winter's Discontent.
