BREAKING NEWS: COUP IN THE STATE OF EZHID ![]() ![]() Two days ago peaceful demonstration which took place from the last several days, took on a much more dramatic turn. The crowd initially only accused the government of corruption and embezzlement of public money, but later they began to demand the immediate resignation of the government. Which each passing hour the crowd was getting bigger and angrier. it was hard to assess the exact number of protesters, but certainly it exceeded 100,000. In the main square of city, Square of the Legacy, where opposition organized their main base, spoke some of the most influential persons in country, including Hizdahr zo Loraq, Kidagakash Nedakh and even Arwedi Zel Elugal, the Archpriest of the Temple. Yesterday afternoon, the Government sent police and some military with an ultimatum - opposition had 5 hours to dispersal, otherwise they would open fire. Demonstrators, armed with Molotov cocktails, sticks and axes, began to create barricades. From minute to minute the situation became more and more hopeless. After 5 hours Government forces launched the first assault, however it was repulsed, with considerable losses on both sides. When the night came, after reorganisation, both parties were ready to once again jump into their throats, but this time it could end with total massacre. In the same time, few military divisions led by well-known Zisudra nez-Shevdeidh, mastered the most important government buildings, also stormed the Palace of Truth, captured members of the Government and overthrow them. This quick, yet well planned and executed action, prevented even greater bloodshed, what would be the result of the second police clash with opposition. From our unofficial information indicates that secret service could be involved in this subversion. This morning, to the delight of the crowd, the members of the old government were publicly executed. Zisudra nez-Shevdeidh delivered a fiery speech to the public about the need for change and restore the old order and the old glory of Aydinir nation. Just few hours ago he publicly proclaimed reestablishment of the Aydinirian Empire, and named it Holy Empire of Shahinay, he announced that he is a successor, descendant and continues the work of Old Shahs. He declared also the need to unite all Aydinirians under one scepter and one banner, and ultimately end shameful era which begins with Destruction. All main leaders of opposition, headed by Arwedi Zel Elugal, swore allegiance and loyalty to him. It's interesting what importance will have this event on the international arena. It could change balance of power in the region of the Bay of Ciri, besides, restoring the Shahdom gives him ideological, political and even religious excuse to reuniting this nation. It could be a real threat to other city-states. Edited by Zisudra, 28 Jun 2016, 17:45.

- Sir! We have a problem. - said one of the soldiers, after he went to the Admiral's cabin. Admiral Aridai Chezesarh was standing over a map which was was spread on his desk. - Yes, son? What is the problem? - he said, looking up from the paper. - Sir... eee... something is happening. It would be better if you see it on your eyes, Sir. - Eh, is it really that important? - Aridai sighed but stood up and followed the soldier. - What this time? Someone falls overboard because he thought saw a siren, or it is just another ... He suddenly stopped when he saw dozens of sailors and soldiers standing on the deck. They were all looking at something far left from the Fleet. When soldiers standing the closest to the Aridai saw him, they made him a place, by passing him to the front of the crowd. - It is the Strait, Sir. - said soldier, pointing with his finger. Before them was the Strait, Gilghanlixaru, which in Aydinirian means "Gate of the Setting Sun". It is a place where Bay of Ciri meets Southern Sea and where both of Aydinirian peninsulas are in the closest distance from each other. Strait was always one of hotspots for wars between the States. Those who controll Gilghanlixaru controll entrance to the Bay of Ciri, and therefore can download the toll for trade and sailing through it. Two States which usually fought for controll of the Strait were Śranirh and Zevid, because their location, both on the shore of the Strait, but many times in history also other States for some time controlled it. Basicly, it was all about one small, but heavily fortified island, called Ker. Who possessed Ker and enough strength, could usurp the right to rule over the Strait. However, there was also some sort of silent, unwritten agreement between all of the States - there is no permission to fully block the Strait, and with it trade and communication. If one of the States fully blocked Gilghanlixaru to hurt trade and interests of another State or group of States, it would mean that it is a real threat to trade and interests of any other State and by such an act it would cause conflict with all other Aydinirian States. Controller of the Strait can download the toll and is free to set its height for each State which want to use it, it but if he closed it competely all other States would pounce on him. Poiltics and mutual relationships between Aydinirian States are absurdaly compicated but such agreement ensured some sort of stability beetween them, and due that Strait was never fully blocked by anybody. Until today. Aridai was looking at three fleets at the mouth of the Bay, unfortunately he wasn't able to see any banders and flags from this distance. Two fleets, from that Aridai could see - merchant fleets, wanted to enter the Bay but they were blocked by another fleet, which like a rope stretched on the entire length of the Strait, standing on guard access to the Bay of Ciri. From what Aridai could see, that third fleet was not merchant but military. He heard a noise of someones steps and moving crowd and through it to Aridai went vice-admiral Xayaarsha Dadlani. He was as suprised as Aridai. - What is going on, Admiral? Blockade? I cannot belive... - Me either. - said Aridai. Then he looked at one of sailors - You! Bring me lorgnette! - soldier saluted by pointing his right fist to his heart and soon after he gave lorgnette to Aridai. Thanks to lorgnette Admiral was finally able to see flags of each fleet - two merchants were under the flags of respectively Daanesh and Shatrah city in Assurhan. The third fleet, that which blocked access to the Bay of Ciri was under the flag of Śranirh. When he was done, he gave lorgnette to the vice-admiral. - Look yourself. - Aridai said. Several seconds later Xayaarsha spoke up. - Maybe Śranirh is blockading because they don't want to pay? - Both of the fleets? It's unlogical, everyone always paid and we all had peace. It was worthwhile. What's more, that's merchants ships, I can belive that one fleet don't want to pay, but both of them? There were always ships patrolling the Strait and taking the toll from passing ships, but never full fleet blockadng it. No, something is going on. Something changed. - What are we going to do now? - asked Capitan Arshak Gorizin. Admiral Aridai had called a meeting and 5 minutes after they saw blockade all officers were in the Admiral's cabin. - I already ordered to communicate with Śranirh's fleet but they do not responde. I also tried to communicate with Ezhid but Śranirhians have to disrupt communication. - said Admiral. - So I renew question - what are we going to do. - said Capitan Rezha Candari. - We should attack! - shouted Capitan Serzh Daywas. - In fact, I don't see any other option. We have orders to reach Ezhid as soon as we can. We can't do that without passing Gilghanlixaru. Their fleet is sizeable and is doing a great job blockading merchants ships but our is almost two times bigger than theirs and we have aircraft carriers with aircraft on it. We are tired and pissed off that they hinder us to go home. If they are sane they will pass us if we will move and threaten them. - said Admiral Aridai. Officers looked at each other. Imperial 4th Fleet moved forward. Nineteen ships under Shahinayan flag approached towards blockade. When they were close enough several warships fired a warning volley towards blocking ships. Nothing happened for about minute but then Śranirhian ships moved back, withdrew, leaving some place for the Shahinayan fleet to get through, to the waters of the Bay of Ciri. After all imperial shis were in the Bay, Śranirhians back to their previous positions, preventing two merchants fleets to follow Shahinayans. Few hours later, soldier once again interrupted Aridai. This time however, he was happy to hear soldier's report. Aridai went to the deck and looked forward, with smile. He looked at mighty and magnificent Ezhid, pearl of the Aydinirian cities. He looked at its high towers, huge, round domes in multiple colors and ancient walls. He looked at his home. Edited by Zisudra, 28 Jun 2016, 17:24.

In one of rooms in the Palace of Truth people were gathering. They were going to it through a high wooden door, which had sculpted scenes from the past days, then they bow before the person sitting on the largest of chairs, and they sat down at the great, round table, which was as richly ornamented as a door. Sun shined through big windows with red curtains and it's light danced on floor made from white marble. When everybody were on their places, person sitting on the largest of chairs, posed on the platform, with backrest carved in the shape of a giant eagle staring haughtily at the people below spoke up. - Give me a summary report. His voice sounded in the silence that prevailed in the hall and bounces off it's walls and four columns. This hall had very good acoustics. One of Ministers, members of the Council of Knowing stood up and answered. - Operation in White Meadow completed successfully, Your Highness. Truce for 3 years has been established and on it's terms power of Prince Saxon in Whte Meadow has been preserved. On the border of White Meadow and Arengin Federation demilitarized zone has been established, patrolled by international forces, in form of Voikan, Fyrarian and Nebulaean regiments. What's more, all 7 main reasons of Shahinayan presentence and participation in White Meadow Crisis are fulfilled and achieved. First reason, as I said - keeping the Prince in power and preventing the annexation of White Meadow territory by the Federation. Achived. Second reason - the purpose of our domestic propaganda, here at several grounds. Showing our citizens the strength and power of imperial army as well as Your wisdom and majesty, Your Highness. Keeping quiet dissidents, critics and people loyal to the old government. Proving by won campaign that overthrowing previous government and reestablishing of the Empire and position of Shah was a good decision. Proving that our movement to restore tradition of Old Empire is strong enough to do it and by showing our strength told people that we have permission of the Gods themselves. Boost trust in You, Your Highness. Achived. Third reason - the purpose of propaganda for other Aydinirian States. Showing our military strength and threatening them by it. Achived. Fourth reason - distracting the international public opinion from the Bay of Ciri and events around it and focusing their attention at area of Urus Mountains. Achived. Fifth reason - the last test of reformed imperial army's combat capabilities, this time in real war conditions. Sixth reason - testing new, experimental technologies and equipments for warfare purpoeses. If I may, Your Imperial Majesty, we treated Meadowian War like our own private testing ground. Technologies and equipments we tested are inter alia new versions of aircraft, especially bombers and fighters; prototype of bombs of repeatedly extended range of destruction, which we used during first battle of Pogrom and bombing of Brodno Prison; stealth technology and intelligent ammunition. We captured also Arenginian holographic technology, scientists claim it has great potential. Seventh reason - occasion to sell weapons, generaly older versions. All is in a detailed report. - he said, putting some folders on the table. - There is also a Meadowian Project, we have promissed devices. - I can announce a complete success, Your Imperial Majesty. Shah simply nodded and asked - What's about the losses? - Bigger than we orginally expected, but still in order. In general, from orginal 25 thousands men we lost few thousands, something between 4 and 5 I think, few dozens of pilots and sailors, some tanks and planes, but all standard types, none of new we tested. More specific informations You can find in a written report. - he once again pointed to folders he put at the table. Shah with gesture allowed him to sit and then he turned to another Minister. - What's the situation in the States? - he asked and Minister stood up. - Tensions grow, Your Highness. 4th Fleet reported that when they were sailing through Gilghanlixaru, returning from White Meadow, Śranirhian fleet blocked the Strait, not allowing trader ships and transporters from Daanesh and Assurhan pass the Strait. As You know, Your Highness, this worsened the already strained relations between them. According to AQSA, Daanesh is going to look for allies against Śranirh and Zevid is likely to join anti-Śranirh alliance. Another protest of unificationists was brutally dismissed by military in Quadhiya, another few peaceful took place in Nedakh, Shivkṙ and Wadanay and in the streets of Culudin riots took place between unificationists and supporters of current king. They used Molotov Cocktails. What's more, Arwedi Zel Elugal ensures that it is only a matter of time before we will have support of Archpriest of Keywir. Oh, and there is another thing. It is not a sure information yet but I heard that just few hours ago old king of Assurhan died, leaving the throne to his granddaughter. That's interesting, thought the Shah, and with gesture allowed him to sit as well. Edited by Zisudra, 18 Jul 2016, 18:36.

This day was hotter than usual and heat poured down from the completely cloudless sky so even in the evening, when sun was setting, you wouldn't see any big changes in temperature. It was cooler than in the noon but still very hot. Too hot for Radoslav. In his homeland in Urus Mountains such temperature was hardly ever seen even in the hottest of summer days. Despite so many years he spent here he couldn't get completely used to the local climate. It was hard to understand how it was normal for Aydinirians. Radoslav, together with others, was going down the stairs, between high towers and great domes. In silence he was going through narrow streets. Despite the crowd, all city was silent. He reached to the place where stairs leaned out from behind the stone and marble buildings and from where a view over ancient city walls was unfolded. On the north-western horizon he saw the Great Desert, great and endless void of fiery sands which reded in the setting sun. The Great Desert ended tens of kilometers from the city but from the mountain on which stands the city of Assurhan it was perfectly visible. He shaked his head and moved forward. It was a overwhelming view and he didn't need any more overwhelming things. He brooded and began to climb another stairs, this time up. Soon after he was in place, he reached the huge square, on the top of the mountain, at the foot of the biggest building in the city, Royal Palace in Assurhan. Square was full of people but the atmosphere was increadibly quiet and serious. Thousands of Aydinirians, citizens of Assurhan, were standing in sadness and anticipation. Radoslav moved to the front of the crowd to have a better place. He was wearing normal Aydinirian clothes and years of living here meant that he had a skin tanned like the natives. He would blend in with the crowd and wouldn't attract any attention if not his high, blonde hair and grey eyes. All of this was unusual in this strange world of Western Pagos. Blonde hair and grey eyes not occurred in the native inhabitants, he was also much shorter, his 1.77m was an average high in his homeland but here average was 1.95m. There were also very few guests from the other areas of the world so Radoslav always stood out. On the platform before the entrance to the palace, Radoslav finally saw the very cause of all of this. Dead body of the King of Assurhan - Shahriyar Vaardan nez-Poûrvayą. Beloved king lies dead on the funeral pyre, wearing ceremonial simple white shirt and around him in in solemn silence priests, guardsmen, noblemen and royal family were standing. It is variously with kings - some are bloody and cruel tyrants, some are conquerors which depends only on their own glory, some are losers who are not suitable to rule anything. But there is no discussion that Shahriyar Vaardan nez-Pûrvayą was a great king, beloved by his people. Hundreds of thousands came to the center of Assurhan to bid farewell a king which ruled them for 57 years. Everybody agreed that it was good 57 years, in which Assurhan remained the calmest, but also the most isolationistic of all isolationistic city-states. He waged only one war, at the dawn of his reign and the rest years were years of peace in the Aydinirian world full of blood. During his life, thanks to his wisdom, he strengthened country, changing it from one of the weaker to one of the strongest States. Just when the ceremony began, Radoslav saw and recognized one person standing on the platform. It was a young woman and she looked like 20 or 25 years old. She was wearing long, ceremonial Aydinirian dress, of name which he forgot, and he had to admit she was incredibly beautiful. High, slim, with olive complection, green almond-shaped eyes and long, dark red hair with black bandwidths. She was looking at the pyre with sad, absent eyesight. He was sure he was looking at Raohshana nez-Poûrvayą, granddaughter and heir of the Shahriyar. She was the only children of Shahriyar's son, and she was raised by him since her parents died when she was a small child. Raohshana was looking at the pyre. At the body of the dearest person in her life, person which raised her like his daughter and which she loved like her father which she did not remember. She stood there, motionless, without paying much attention to what was happening outside her head. Priests began the ceremony, but it was not important. He has gone, she thought, unable to fully understand of this fact. He has gone and I will never see him again. He has gone in the moment when Assurhan needs him the most. When I need him. What will happen without him? What all of us will do without him, she thought. I am his heir. And the awareness of this fact hit her like a bolt. I am his heir, he was preparing me for this all my life. But am I ready? And when the time has come, she moved forward, slowly, with a torch in hand. First stars appeared in the sky as if Radhevar and the rest of the Gods came from the beyond, to personally say goodbye to the old king and to lead him to his last journey in this life. She set fire to the pyre and olive easily caught fire. The bright flames covered Shahriyar. She stepped backward but she was still standing much closer to the pyre than the rest of the people. Square was silent and sound of the burning wood was the only thing you could hear. Even wind subsided. And then she started to sing. And with her prists, noblemen, guardsmen and all of the crowd. And the silence once again became a word. Radoslav stood and listened. Thousands throats were singing one song - slow, beautiful and sublime. Thousands throats singing in the same moment, in unique and strange harmony. Despite several years which he spent here, he never had an occasion to participate in Aydinirian funeral. Now he could say it was one of the most unusual events in which he have ever participated. He spoke Aydinirian language, but he had problems with understanding this song. He knew that it is sang, as all of the oldest, most sacred and important Aydinirian songs, in the ancient accent of the Old Empire, which is fully understandable for the native Aydinirians, but which took ezjotaze, which means foreigners, many years to master, even if they know today's Aydinirian. The only thing he could do was listen. O Deivanaya, rashekaya īdunniyu chala O Azhirham, anazuni as vala E urbauneź fadnear Yödomo zahiriu asthar Veo, nīssi yaśod kama Bachato qa linnę dzaxa yashodh tot'ma lashchat ma Ag veo waina dhasanne kaṙ īdunniya i khara arisa Veo bhanne ag tade ansarisa Eo p'aśod, hafariyaat e fadnear andari Jeiveca cisardi, veo shasal ag amshasal zan aeshma ansari Ag variśdi, veo hwadi tar Gwannan zan ziṙ taman vala ghamtar ... Keywir was always quite different from other Aydinirian States. When other were absolute monarchies ruled by kings, Keywir was more of theocracy, ruled by the Archpriest. There was 7 Archpriests in Aydinirian States, and all of them were very influential persons in their countries, but Keywir was the only one where one of them was in the real power and ruled the state. When all other States expanded their borders and through war, by conquering smaller and weaker city-states, Keywir was the only one which did it rather through strength of their word and faith than their weapon, and by diplomacy and authority it convinced neigbour cities to join its ranks. It was one of the smallest city-states and it was no military power. You could say that it should be ate by its stronger neighbours long time ago. However, Keywir had something else - authority of the biggest religious center of Aydinirianism. City was also one of the most sacred places of this faith, it was believed that it stands in place of some events mentioned in Hwadi, such as first quarell between the Gods and division into Deivanaya and Asuraya or the departure of Ciri to her world. Keywir was the weakest and the most powerful of the States in the same time. Unable to wage great wars and fight for their influences or successfully defend itself from the enemy invasion, it was in the same time protected from such invasion by the invisible shield of holiness. Anyone who would attack this city, or worse - defiled its sanctity, would be widely considered as heretic and blasphemer. Despite lack of physical power, Archpriest of Keywir had great power of rule over hearts and souls. This night was dark and full of clouds, which covered moon and stars. While at the sunset sky was almost cloudless, the later it was the more clouds appeared. One black silhouette was moving quietly through the dark corridors. Unnoticed. Unstoppable. With a knife in its hands. Gun would be too loud. Silhouette stopped, listening. It was almost in place. It moved forward, then turned right, went upstairs and opened a window. Now it could hear voices clearly, in the next room it one window was also opened. - No, no, no! And once again no! He is another despot, not a god on earth. Heirs of Radhevar died out during the Destruction, he is not one of them. What he is saying is a heresy! - Your Holiness, I would advise to think about that again. I can be the last chance to change your mind. - Are you threatening me, Siavash? - How could I dare, Your Holiness? - That's a good question, Siavash. How dare you? But he could be right, Your Holiness. It is a hard situation, but show him support could be a wise decision. Tensions grows, I am afraid that he can attain his goal even without our help. And if so... - No, Narzes. I will not support a liar and blasphemer, who wipes his mouth by our holy things, and who uses it for his own vested interests. And that's my final word. Tomorrow I will officially contempt him. You can go now, both of you. Silhouette heard two persons leaving the chamber and it came out through the open window. Window was high above the ground but that wasn't a problem. Silhouette quickly but carefuly passed the ledge toward the second window and soundlessly came inside the chamber. His Holiness, Archpriest of the Temple of Keywir was turned back to the window. And that was his mistake. The last one. Knife sparkled in the dim light of the electric lamp and glided toward its target. Metal went through the flesh and internal organs and in half of the second it was on the other side of its target. Less than a moment later knife was back at its previous position. Silhouette was an artist in it's Art. His Holiness freezed. It took him a long time to realized what happened. When he looked down, he knew he is dead. He couldn't scream, and it would be useless now. He turned around, and with a great afford and with pain in his voice, he said - You know your job. Let me asked you only one thing - He sent you or Siavash? But His Holiness didn't hear response. Before he could, he fell down. Blood stained the floor. Narzes was confused. Less than a hour ago His Holiness ended their meeting. So Narzes went asleep, but soon after guards woke him and said that His Holiness wishes to see him. It was strange and not simmilar to His Holiness. Narzes was going through the silent corridors, full of bad thoughts. Something had to happened. He opened a door to His Holiness' chamber. His Holiness was standing here and looking at the dark night through the opened window. - You wished to see me, Your Holiness? - he asked. But then he realised that person wearing sacred robes of His Holiness' was not His Holiness. - Yes, Nazres, I wanted. His Holiness is dead, he died in his sleep. It is a sad day for us all, but the Gods called for him. Now, according to hierarchy, I am his successor. Kneel. - said Siavash. Narzes was shocked. And he knew what that mean. He looked behind him and saw guards standing in the door, cutting off the only exit. He kneeled. Edited by Zisudra, 19 Jul 2016, 08:24.

Later the same night when flames surrounded king Shahriyar and when His Holiness stood before the Gods, in Ezhid moon broke through the clouds and in its light fell on one of huge balconies in the Palace of Truth and one person, which slept on it under small cypress. Zisudra had restless dreams and through entire night he rolled from side to side. His attempts to sleep were ultimately interrupted by knocking at the big, ebony door to the private Shah's chambers. He stretched, yawned and said - Come in! Through the door went one of the high ranked ministers. He looked around the chamber and moved on the balcony. When he saw Zisudra, he stopped and bowed before his emperor. - Your Imperial Majesty, I have a news. - Speak. - Spies report about massive troop movements in area of Gilghanlixaru. It is still unofficial, but most likely Zevid-Daanesh alliance and Śranirh declared war upon themselves. If it is true, country which will profite the most is Bhatipur. It is already selling weapon to both sides of Erin-Tihru war, another war of their neighbours is another occasion for them. We know also about Culudinian activity near our border. Spies report that they could want to cut off supplies we unofficialy deliver to Unificationists. - Finally. So the time has come. Connect me with Ministers of Navy, Air Forces and Land Forces. Immediately. - Should I call a meeting of Council of Knowing? - No, it would last to long. We have to act quickly. |

In the same time war fleets of Daanesh and Zevid were ready to attack Śranirhian fleet blockading the Strait. It was significantly strengthened since the start of the blockade. First attack was however repulsed, with heavy losses on both sides. Blockade of Gilghanlixaru was maintained. But that was not the end, alliance mobilized more troops, in hope that next attack will break blockade. From Śranirhian air base at Ker Island started squads of bombers, with bombs targeted at city of Zevid and many other less important port cities and towns. They were however detected by scaners and enemy fighters flew out to meet them. Although many bombers were shot down, destruction made by the rest of the bombs were huge. In Western Pagos none of the States was signatory of any agreement of human rights or rights of civilians during war. That's why not only military bases and strategic points were targets, but also densely populated cities. Cities like Zevid. Many people died this day in Zevid, but losses would be much greater if not an extensive network of shelters and conscious reaction of the authorities. City was endangered by air attack since Zevid lost Ker Island during last war with Śranirh few years ago. To somehow neutralize this threat, government created huge network of shelters and rapid response systems. But Zevid was not defendless. When scaners detected Śranirhian bombers, Zevid picked to fly its own. When city of Zevid was burning, the same was happening with Ker and bombers were approaching city of Śranirh. As the old Aydinirian saying says: īhaoni arp'as, ve arp'as, hard law, but the law, Zevid acted in accordance with one of the oldest and most cruel laws, law of war. It responded blow for blow. Soon after Śranirh was burning just like Zevid. In the morning, just when capitals of both countries were bombarding, relatively small Shahinayan fleet appeared at the gates of the Strait, at the back of the blockade. It tried to do exactly what it did last time, force Śranirhian fleet to pass it through. It was comming closer and closer, with one warning volley. Who knows what really happened? Maybe it was orders from the top? Maybe it was just a hasty decision of one of the captains? But the fact is that Śranirhian fleet opened fire to Shahinayans. And that was exactly this, provocation on which Shah was hoping for. It might seem relatively small, accidentally standing in this location fleet turned out to be armed to the teeth and ready to fight. When it was attacked, it managed to quickly drown a couple of enemy ships, to the big surprise of the Śranirhians. That was an occasion for the Daanesh-Zevid alliance. Using this sudden confusion behind enemy lines, their ships attacked second time, this time breaking blockade. ![]()

Shahinayan fleet withdrew, so Śranirh thought that it was not a planned action and that Empire is not part of the Daanesh-Zevid alliance. Without blockade and with their capital bombed like Zevid, Śranirh tried something else. They started to planing a massive desant on the other shore of Gilghanlixaru. At 4:23 am Shahinay issued an official statement. Official Statement of the Holy Empire of Shahinay At 3:55 Imperial 2nd Fleet was attacked by naval forces of the State of Śranirh at the gates of Gilghanlixaru. Śranirhians opened fire to the imperial ships, completely unprovoked, and damaged one of them. Fleet of the Empire returned fire and drown several attackers. In His great wisdom, Zisudra nez-Shevdeidh, first of His name, by the grace of Radhevar, Gods and Men shah of Shahinay, lord of Ezhid and the rightful ruler of all Aydinirian States, treats this open act of aggression as a declaration of war. Empire is starting a military mission to stabilize current situation within a borders of the State of Śranirh, and restore peace what is seems is beyond the capabilities of the local government. Whole incident with Shahinayan fleet was only a pretext for use of imperial propaganda. Shah was using once again ways proven in White Meadow, which means casus belli of stabilization mission. Several minutes later Imperial forces crossed the Shahinayan-Śranirhian border. Edited by Zisudra, 21 Jul 2016, 10:59.

Together with the rising sun, imperial troops were crossing border, on its full length. When in White Meadow it was only expeditionary force in form of two divisions, this time it was real full-scaled invasion. Soldiers under black eagle flag within 10 minutes approached under defending the border Dhraaivar Fort. However, it was not that simple. Shahinayan-Śranirhian border wasn't very long, it was hard to move all troops on the other side of the border through such narrow corridor. On quickly capturing Dhraaivar depended success of a surprise attack. Salchan and his compannions had morning sun behind his back, so he wasn't blinded by it, in contrast to the defenders of Dhraaivar. Most of them were still sleeping, unaware of incoming danger. Alter was was raised very late, just before Shahinayan artillery started shooting at enemy fortifications. The roar of explosions shook the ground. Confused defenders had to immediately take their equipment and with their sleepy eyes and minds realized that they are under siege. This fortifications were soon after broken and Shahinayans attacked. Salchan ran with a gun in his hand and chamzhir on his belt. He ran like many others, with song on his lips. They broke through the enemy hastily prepared defence inside enemy camp. The rest wnet quickly. Few minutes later Dhraaivar was Shahinayan. Control over this position helped Empire to move the rest of the army, and with it more heavy equipment, such as heavy tanks, on the other side of the border. Shahinayan Army without much trouble captured the rest of enemy border fortifications within first 20 minutes, and was marching towards first place where they expected real, strong resistance - towards located near the border city of Wadanay. Wadanay is a city of about 360 000 citizens. Located right between the borders of former Ezhid, now Shahinay, Śranirh and Keywir, it was always a strategic important city. As all nowdays Aydinirian cities (except for one) it was never a city of Old Empire. Most of nowdays cities were either Old Empire's colonies and trade posts or were created after Jashor. Wadanay is the second option. It is also quite unique because of its architecture - of course, it is built in Aydinirian style, but when most of cities have many huge domes and high towers made from many types of stone, history of Wadanay as a place of many battles (not so lang ago) made that it has got far less high buildings and domes and a lot more short one, with thick walls, to better endure attacks and bombings. Within an hour Shahinayan forces were under the city. Battle of Wadanay has begun. |

When morning sun was shining, above the Great Temple in Keywir black smoke raised. Everybody knew what that means. His Holiness is dead. As the tradition says, next head of Keywir is next priest in hierarchy. Siavash Zel Khaveką. Thousands of people came to the square in front of the Grand Temple. That's here, from the balcony, newly sworn His Holiness should bless the faithful. From here he always spoke to believers. And this time would not be different. Narzes, however did not need to be present during his speech. He already knew that, or at least was guessing it. He was present during his swearing, as tradition required, but then, when Siavash was speaking to believers, he walked away. He was passing huge statues of Gods and beautiful reliefs which described every of Great Arts - Art of Creation, Art of Destruction, Art of Preservation, Art of Wisdom, Art of War, Art of Love, Art of Pleasure, Art of Beauty, Art of Rulership, Art of Obedience, Art of Dreams, Art of Understanding, Art of Aspiration and Art of Death. He passed all of this in his journey through empty corridors. Afraid of what will happed soon, and what was only a matter of time. And then he stopped. He stopped before a relief of mythological heroine. Scene showed her fighting against several demonical figures, horse riders in armors made from bones. Red Riders, that was their name. She was much shorter than two other persons on the relief, Aydinirians fighting on her side, and was a beautiful young woman with scar on her cheek and scabbard of the sword slung over her shoulder. This portrait looked very old, and was probably as old as Great Temple itself. Which means about 2000 years. All colors which were orginally on the relief were erased by unstoppable hand of time so now it is all white. But on the other portraits Red Riders are presented in black and red while Ciri with grey hair and green eyes. Narzes' contemplations were suddenly interrupted by loud conversation in the corridor. Two men were going in his direction. - (...) Their forces surrounded Wadanay and ... - What happened? - asked Narzes. Two priests looked at him. - Oh, mighty Ishaar, war. This time serious one. How could you not hear anything? You are not using TV, internet? Shah (...) When Nerzes was inquiring about the situation, Siavash was speaking to the believers. He not only delcared his support for the Shah, but also in fiery words named him a descendant of the Old Shah's and Radhevar himself, his attempts to unite all States under his rule as noble and right and his war as holy. He called all faithful to fight for that idea and at the end he announced the incorporation of the country to the Empire. For sure there was one thing you had to admit him - he knew how to win over the crowds. At the evening thousands went to the funeral of old Archpriest. But they all knew that things will never be the same. Edited by Zisudra, 21 Jul 2016, 19:13.

- 1st and 2nd Army are marching toward Chazh, along the coast. - pointed one of generals on huge and detailed holographic map. - Any problems? - No, after encroachment on the territory of Keywir and attacking enemy border from the south coast we not encountered any significant resistance. Wadanay is still defending and enemy directed reinforcements to help the city, but the rest of the front is clear. Attacking from Keywir was a good move, Śranirhians did not expected that so for now, 1st and 2nd Army cuts through enemy territory like butter. New lines appeared on the holographic map. In its white-blue lines, it showed everything - cities, towns, villages, topography of terrain, movements and route the march of troops, additional notes, estimates of time and many more. This technology was far, far more useful in warfare than traditional manual maps, or even computer ones. The use of this technology gives the Empire huge tactical advantage over all other Aydinirian States. Whats more, since there were only two countries which had acces to it, use of this technology gives huge tactical advantage over all other potential opponents. Who would suppose that one device taken form Arenginian spy will strengthen Empire so much? Mr. Wolf had unintentionally served Shahinayan reason of state. It was not the only Shahinayan technological advantage over city-states. Tests carried out during Meadowian Campaign gave the Empire several scientific breakthroughs in the field of military. Using of more advanced equipement than other States significantly improuved Shahinayan predominance. Increasing might of Shahinay, as the only Aydinirian State which have contacts with the rest of Pagos, was proving that the era of isolationism was nearing to its end. When new Archpriest of the Great Temple of Keywir, His Holiness Siavash Zel Khaveką, in secret agreement with the Shah, declared incorporation of the country to the Empire, Shahinayan forces crossed previous Shahinayan-Keywiran border. Most of them marched south-west, to attack Śranirh from south coast and through that direction fell upon the city of Chazh, big port city of the enemy. However, some troops stayed in the territory of used-to-be Keywir, to gain a full control over this new imperial province. And with the troops came agents of SAVAK, "Service of Security and Conservation of Public Order". In fact - Shahinayan secret police and domestic security, experts in eliminating both real and possible political opponents and critics, eulogists of imperial propaganda. Night hours were approaching and citizens of Keywir were coming back from the funeral of the old Archpriest. Moods of people were indeed complicated. Some were truly afraid and even angry, disappointed. They opposed anexation of Keywir and its end as free and independent city-state. Others were optimistic and even happy of the turn of events. Siavash was very a charismatic leader and his speech moved human hearts and dispeled doubts of many people. Whats more, the Shah and his subordinate propaganda apparatus boosted pro-unification sentiment in the States for more than a year. With a great succes, as it appeared. But most of Keywirans were undecided, torn between conflicting opinions and positions. - Calm down! Don't do that! Its over and there is nothing you can do! - shouted Anahita, gesticulating with her hands. - There is always something I can do, they will not take our freedom! - shouted back Ramin, ardent opponent of the Shah since he took power in the State of Ezhid 2 years ago. - Is your life unpleasant? You want to loose it? You followed events occured in Ezhid after the Shah took power, you know that opposition was annihilated, ceased to exist much quicker than usual, when somebody took power in one of the States. He have to admit him that, he is effective. Take my advice, be silent. - she answered. - I will not let him rule our country! He is a bloody tyrant and fucking liar. I hate this theocracy we have but he is even worse. Freedom is much more important than my life! - You are stupid. Anahita, hold me, because I can't stand this revolutionary bullshit anymore. Theocracy is bad, Shah is bad, so what you want to have here? Comminism? - said irritated Zartosht, sitting in a chair. - No, Democracy! - Ramin answered. - Ugh - Zartosht sighed - Even better... You are the only person I know with such idiotic political opinion. You hate tyrany, democracy is the tyrany of majority. Besides, there was NEVER, ANY Aydinirian State which was democratic. Neither communistic. And I hope there will never be. Those ideologies are foreign to us. And we had an Empire once. In the beginning. All Aydinirians in one country, ruled by God. - So you are with him? - asked Ramin. - Honestly? Yes. He elliminated all opposition, that's true. He did the same what everyone do when they take power, what every king is doing. Only he did it... more efficiently. And you know what? I would do the same in his place. He is the Shah after all. Your ideals are realistic only in your utopian, unrealistic word. - There are countries like that. Federation or ... - But this is not the Federation and you are not an Arenginian. Be loyal to your roots, not some false ideals of Ezjotaze. In what are they better than us? Our ancestors ruled the world far before the first man spoke Olikian. Old Empire was old far before first true cities appeared in this piece of land they call home - said Zartosht. - Typical Aydinirian mentality. We have sick superiority complex. Those times are gone, face it. Word has changed and we can learn a lot from people we so pejoratively call ezjotaze. Be progressive. - We can, without abbandon our roots and sacred traditions. And the New Empire is, Shah opened this country for the world. - Oh, please, don't tell me that you believed in his propaganda - said Ramin. - In fact, I did. I believe in him. - said Zartosht. In the room a grave silence fell for a few seconds. - Then you are a fool - answered Ramin - I will go there, to the demonstration, no matter what you will say When he said that he move toward the door, opened it and went out in the night, slamming the door. Night was warm, as usuall. - Are you going? - asked Anahita. - No, I don't want to have anything in common with this. And you?- he said. - Somebody have to not let him get in even bigger troubles. - Be careful. Later that night, on the square before the Temple crowd of about 5 or 6 thousant people gathered. With torches in their hands, megaphones and transparents. They protested. They protested against Archpriest Siavash, against the Shah, against annexation of Keywir, against presentence of imperial troops on its territory. Many people spoke up to the protesters that night. Each time the crowd reacted in clapping and cheers. And one of the persons speaking to the crowd was Ramin. His angry words gathered very much clapping. Anahita was standing nearby, not in the demonstration but quite near from it. And she hoped Ramin did not make a big mistake. After an hour on the street before them Shahinayan solidiers appeared. It were several Shahinayan divisions entering the city. Full armed, marched in compact column. Military cars and transporters were there as well. They did not react. After another few hours demonstration vanished. All protestors, with they angry words and opposing posture went their homes. And so Ramin did. Anahita breathed a sigh of relief. Nothing happened. She went back her home as well. Not a long time after, Ramin was sitting in front of his computer. He could not sleep and did not want to. Instead he was surfing on the internet, or more specifically, on underground sites of dying opposition. And thats when he heard loud, terrifying crash. Crash of breaking down door. Before he could realize what is happening, through a now leaning on the floor door several silhouettes went. In an instant, they ran to his room, pulled him out of the chair and threw him on the floor. Few of this persons were soldiers. But not all of them. There were also two other characters, dissimilar to the soldiers. They were wearing some black uniform and also dark glasses. When soldiers cuffed him in shackles and lifted him up, one of this strange dark characters spoke up. - Ramin Ardavan? - ... Yes ... - You are arrested . - Under what charge? You have nothing on me! Agent hit him in the stomach so hard that Ramin's legs buckled under him and he staggered. - We ask the questions. Agent turned around and looked at the computer. The website was still open. He smiled and waved his companion. - Look what we have here. Neither Anahita nor Zartosht saw him after that night. Ramin disappeared. Disappeared as well as all other persons speaking up during the demonstration. From that night on, SAVAK was doing its job. That was the first and the last such demonstration in Keywir. While lands of Shahinay were covered in quite high hills and woods full of cedrus, cypress, pistachio trees, evergreen oaks and several other endemic tree species which occur only around the Bay of Ciri, territories of Śranirh were broad, flat plain, rising only a dozen meters above sea level. Farming fields were everywhere around on the flat horizon. This lands are very good lands. Fertile and rich. Great for agriculture. Great for invasion. Flat area, without any noticeable and important terrain obstacles was just ideal for attack. And much worse for defence. Lack of natural defence positions was not in favour for potential defenders. Feritile soils were in the past a cause of many wars between the States, and thats why to defende this land several highly fortified cities emerged. And the biggest and most important of them was Wadanay. City was under siege for a three days. Imperial army surrounded it from all sides, cutting it off the deliveries of water, food, medicines and other supplies. Defenders were trapped. Artillery shelled enemy positions in the city and even squat stone walls could not stand this onslaught. Many buildings were damaged, including the seat of local authorities, one of the few buildings here which had a huge Aydinirian dome on the top. Now, this dome collapsed inside the building. Nonetheless, Shahinayans did not attacked, did not launched a final, decisive assault on the city of Wadanay. Instead, they were still waiting at sight from the city. One grupe of soldiers were sitting in front of some farm house, about 1.5 kilometers from the city. Five persons where talking, laughing, drinking and playing poker, with worn and dirty cards of one soldier, or rather its war version, simplified for the game in the field. - I'm changing - said Söraya, pulling her raven black hair from her face and changing two cards for another. - Fuck. I too - said Salchan, with a grim face. - I'm not - said Khashayar with a grin when Tara looked at him. - Ok, so let's check - said Tara and she showed her cards. - Three of a kind - she said. - Fuck. Again. Only a pair - said Salchan. - Look and cry - said Khashayar, confident of his victory - Quads - he said showing 4 kings in his deck. Söraya laughed. - Look and cry - she mimicked him and then she showed her carts. - Quads. Aces. - ... Fuck ... - Come one, finish it. I'm getting bored - said fifth person, sitting right next them, observing game and drinking his beer. They played to 15 wins and Tirdad finished some time ago. He was highest in the rank, a corporal. - Shut up. It's your faul that you won so quiclky. After some time Salchan spoke up - You know, in fact I'm getting bored. And I don't mean this game. I mean this siege. We should storm the city. It would fall. And instead we simply waiting... for what? For enemy reinforcements? I heard that they will come tomorrow. - I don't get it, either. But I believe there is a rule in this madness, so to speak. I am sure officers have some plan which explain why we did not attacked yet. - said Söraya. - But where is a logic here? When reinforcements will come we will be between a rock and a hard place. Oh, Father of Understanding, enlighten me. - said Khashayar. - I have a theory. But it's just my theory. Have you ever read Hwadi? Or, to be specific, part called 'Eńyą Anzaauri'?- asked Tirdad. - I think I read 'Art of War' a long time ago. What is with that? - asked Tara. - There was an interesting part in it. I will try to quote from my memory... - said Tirdad, while he was trying to remind something. - "Misdirection and distraction are the key to survival; never attack what your enemy defends, never behave as your enemy expects, and never reveal your true strength. If knowledge is power, then to be unknown is to be unconquerable." I think it contains a good summary of the Shahinayan strategy. It fits up even to Meadowian Campaign - at the beginning Federation did not known with what it had to deal, this whole thing with peace mission. We attacked unexpectedly, night bombing of Arenginian forts and missile attacks at Union City. Even during the First Battle of Pogrom, Arenginians expected massive attack at the front. They strengthened the center. Instead, they center was attacked mostly by Meadowians, only half of Division "Gohar" helped them. We misdirected them. Division "Mirza" walked around their flanks and attacked their backs. If that's true, maybe this time it is simmilar. I think that this time, by attacking Wadanay, the Empire is doing exactly as our enemy expect, and our generals know that. Because of two other things. Distraction and true strength. I think that the Empire is pretending to be weaker than it really is. It's provoking their attack. And that could be also a distraction. Enemy pulled its soldiers from other positions to move them here. Controll over Wadanay means controll over all this plains. Enemy have to defend it. What if that is a point? - Wow - Are you sure you are not working in AQSA? - said Salchan. Several hours later they were alarmed. Enemy reinforcements came. |

General Thakur Felsid, Imperial Minister of the Navy, knew that Shah was in the palace's library. And it was that place, where he was heading to. Thakur went through huge corridors of Palace of Truth, passing countless stairs, doors, chambers and windows, through which evening sun shined. He passed palace service, many officials and clerks, foreign diplomats and soldiers, which saluted when he was passing them. Then, he was there. Huge library, one of the biggest in the world - pride of the country and the Shah himself. He used to spend many evening hours in this part of Palace, with his nose deep inside heavy books of ancient knowlage. Library is always open for public, except for this hours in which Shah decided to occupy it for himself. There is no single rule how many time he could spend there. In one day he was there only for one hour, in another he disappeared there for almost entire day. In front of the door to Library, two guardsmen stood, protecting the entrance on a personal Shah's order. When they saw Thakur, they saluted by pointing their right fist to their hearts. - Sir! - Let me in - Thakur ordered. - No, Sir. It is a pesonal Shah's order. We cannot. - I have a very important news for the divine Shah. It is a matter of urgency. Guards looked at each other and then they withdrew from the door, letting him through. When he went inside they returned to their previous positions. Huge, two times bigger than human, ebony doors closed after him. Thakur looked at almost infinitive bookshelves, filled with books. Filled with knowledge. He entered the library, the realm of Gods, of Radhevar and Ghrezdan. Each and every of this thousends of books contained informations and wisdom of many generations. For Aydinirians, as a nation that values knowledge, libraries were almost as sacred as temples. Destruction of library, destruction of a book, was as great vice and crime as the worst of profanity. The highest of Aydinirian gods - Radhevar, was not without a reason lord of wisdom and knowledge, called also Father of Understanding. Thakur went through library's corridors and several floors, but after a while he find the Shah, He was sitting on the third storey, before one of huge windows which which illuminated the room. He was reading one of several books which he picked and put right next him. Thakur went closer and fell to his knees. - Your Imperial Majesty. Shah turned around. - Ah, Thakur, that's you. What are you doing here, I forbade to let anyone here - Shah frowned and in his eyes glistened. - I know, My Lord. I have important news. - If so, speak. - Śranirhian reinforcements have arrived near Wadanay. Battle will began soon. Shah smiled slightly and stood up. - Finally. I guess generals know it already, am I right? - he looked at the books on the table - It will be time for that, but for now we have something more important. Shah went forward exit, and then to the Command Room. Thakur followed.

When the third day of siege was nearing to an end, Śranirh troops came. They stopped their march several kilometers from Shahinayans and city of Wadanay, to reorganize their battle array. It gave Shahinayans some time as well. Soldiers from around the city were gathered to push back the attack. Place of this battle was a huge, flat plain, without any hills or any deep forest, just urban and rural areas around Wadanay. Śranirhians were approaching from the west, while Shahinayans occupied better defence positions in city's suburbs. Imperial army was prepeared for this turns of events. Reorganization of it's positions lasted shorter than reorganization of Śranirhian ones. Due that, Shahinayan heavy artillery was first to open fire. The enemy did not remained debt. Soon after troops attacked, in a desperate try to break the siege. If Shahinayans would capture it, they could spread wings of their invasion and march deep inside the Śranirhian territory without problems. Because of problems in their intelligence, or rather lack of any which could compare with SAVAK or AQSA, they did not know in what order Shahinayans deployed their troops or which equipment they have. And that was their crucial mistake. They counted on their numerical superiority. That was true, Śranirhians mobilized almost all their troops from central and eastern part of the country, only the western ones were busy fighting with Zevid and Daanesh. The problem is they forgot about Shahinayan technological superiority. Due of their lack of proper intelligence, they did not know about new Shahinayan equipment, their newest toys. And Imperial High Command decided to make sure they remain unaware up to the last moment. All divisions which possessed standard or old equipment were deployed at the front line, while all better equipped divisions were let at the reserves, waiting for their moment. - Hold the line! Hold the front! - shouted Sergeant. - Oh, Gods, have a mercy for me... - someone mumred. - We will hold them here! Understood?! In the name of Gods and Shah! For the Empire! We will take what belongs to the New Empire, we will restore the former glory of our nation! - she shouted, looking at his soldiers. - They shall not pass! LONG LIVE THE SHAH! - LONG LIVE THE SHAH! - shouted back countless of throats. They defended previously fortified position righ in the center of the front line. Enemy had to go through here to reach the city. Imperial soldiers set up barricades across the main city's highway. Explosions shook the ground and above their heads planes flew. They had no idea which - Śranirhian or Shahinayan. Probably both. Then they saw first enemy units. Many tanks and behind following soldiers. - Hold the line! Wait! Wait for them to come closer! - shouted Sergeant. Tanks were coming closer which each second. After a while half of them passed a highway bridge, half was still passing. - Fire! Shahinayans detonated explosives under the bridge. In huge explosion and with great noice it collapsed, shattering many enemy tanks and soldiers. Ruins of the bridge cut enemy on two parts. In the windows of a small house near the highway, imperial soldiers appeared. Several of them holding bazookas. They fired, destroying some tanks. Metal vehicles went up in flames. Rest of tanks fired at Shahinayan positions. This few buildings which stood nearby shook on the ground. Screams and explosions were everywhere, like a song of forthcoming death. Soldiers began shooting. Many lied dead. Shahinayans threw Molotov cocktails at enemy soldiers, along with bazookas it was devastating. At the same time soldiers climbed up to the ruins of the bridge which blocaded a highway. They fired their bazookas at the enemy. Scenario which occured at the other side of this bridge repeated. Śranirhians suffered heavy losses. But Shahinayans as well. All would be good if not another grupe of enemy troops approaching the wighway. |

- Soldiers withstand enemy attack. At least for now. Enemy doubled his troops which are attacking the center. - said one of the generals, looking at holographic map at Command Room in Palace of Truth. Map clearly showed all of the battlefield. One could see city of Wadanay and it's outskirts, where stood Shahinayan forces, in a semi-circular line, center was a little bit forward the west, with a slightly receding flanks. Another white-blue lines showed city's garnizon, which stood in the city and Śranirhians marching towards imperial lines from the west. Shahinayans were holding theri positions but attackers were desperated. - How long can they hold out? - asked the Shah. - Not more than a few hours, Your Majesty. - answered one of the generals. - That's enough. I do not demand of them more than this few hours. What with our reserves? - On their positions. Should they enter the battle? - No, not yet. Send air forces instead. We need air control. |

It was getting worse and worse. They were fighting already for about two hours or so, and the enemy was starting to gain an advantage on the battlefield. As far as Zharran knew, mostly in the center. Shahinayan flanks were doing well. Since his service in White Meadow, Zharran was promoted. Now, as a corporal, he has got his own, small unit. The earth shook. This is even worse than in White Meadow. Battle of Pogrom was the piece of cake compared with that - Zharran thought. It was, at least for him. In the Pogrom he was in Division "Mirza", now he was just on the front. He shooted another soldier. He did not know even which one. He quickly hid behind the barricade. He heard a strange noice. And he knew before he saw it, that the aircraft were coming. On the sky above him another aircraft squadron flew. This time they were Shahinayan, he knew that. A moment later another explosions were heard, this time left from him. They were defending, but Zharran knew that they are unable to stand on this position. Not any longer. - Soldiers! We are retreating deeper into the lines! - he ordered. Sun was setting, and the sky was as red as a blood on the ground. |

- My Lord, our lines are at risk of breaking down - said General Egir. - They have to fight a little longer. - said the Shah, carefully observing the battle at the map. He could clearly see enemy troops pushing back Shahinayans at the center. Once semi-circular line contorted toward west, now was starting to contorte in the opposite direction, creating a place at the middle of the front where most of enemy forces were gather. Shahinayan flanks were defending with greater succes. They were still holding their position, creating two huge wings at the south and north. - Order the center to move back again. Śranirhians have to come deeper. - said Shah, looking at the map with a huge concentration. - Your Majesty! They can break down! I suggest we should use our reserves... - Not yet! General Egir, you are a good soldier, but you have a problem with one thing - you lack patience. Never reveal your true strength, not until the last moment, General. They think we are weakening. They think they are pushing us back. Let them think it. Let them think they are winning. They are already getting careless, leaving their sides almost unprotected, moving everything they have at the front. They think they have a victory within their reach, that they will break our lines within next hour. General Egir, do not bring them out with that error. This divisions - Shah pointed at the map - have to move back deeper. Without arousing suspicion. Śranirhians have to enter this trap. Edited by Zisudra, 31 Jul 2016, 10:52.

Kelzyis watched as Shahinayan air forces were winning thier battle on the sky, shooting down more and more enemy planes and graining an advantage. Unfortunately, it seemed that on the ground the tide of battle goes less favorably. Śranirhians, feeling their close victory were pushing harder and harder, hoping to finally break imperial lines and enter the besiged city. More of enemy troops were coming here, enemy pulled almost all his divisions. She grabbed her gun and moved down the stairs of this ruined suburb house. It was something like an observation point. At the door she find another enemy soldier. He was looking around the room when she jumped from the corner. After a secund they both reached to their weapons. But Kelzyis was quicker, when Śranirhian soldier was half way from his gun, she pulled her chamzhir out and within a few another secunds she pierced his stomach with her metal blade. Soldier fell down, and she run forward. She find Meiwez and the rest of her unit. They were still defending, however enemy was starting to surround them. - And? - he asked. - They are coming, pushing almost all their forces here. We cannot hold this position. - Fuck... Ishaar, give us strength... They heard radio, communication was hard but still possible. - To all units, I repeat, to all units (...) Move back, move back (...) - radio crackled. They loocked at themselves. - Soldiers! Move back! - shouted Meiwez. |

Shah was looking at the map, deep within his thoughts. He saw like his soldiers were withdrawing and how the front line was warping to inside. - Your Majesty, in some places fights are so heavy that several divisions are embroiled in close combat and ... - It is a time - said the Shah - My Liege? - I said, it is a time. The enemy felt too confident. Move our reserves. They should enter the fight, and from our wings attacked the enemy. Thet are as tired as this brave soldiers are, and our reserves are fresh and much better equipped - he pointed and zoomed interesting points at the holomap - Intensify firing from the air. And use this prototype we were talking about. Execute my order. Immediately! Generals saluted. Edited by Zisudra, 1 Aug 2016, 13:10.

Śranirhian forces, seeing like Shahinayan front lines were moving back deeper and deeper, with even greater enthusiasm attacked. They moved forward, their battle formations scattered and their sides were left unsecured. Reorganized crowd of enemy units, pushing imperial soldiers forward, was surrounded by still defending on their positions Shahinayan wings, from north and south. Śranirhians were sure of their victory. And that was exactly the moment Shah was waiting for. Reserves which were waiting all this time, fresh, equipped in the most perfect products of imperial arms industry and eager to fight, were finnaly entering this battle. Shah's order was clear - two groups, each one behind the lines of Shahinayan wings, have to go around these wings and from behind them attack enemy sides. And so they did. At the middle of the frontline Shahinayans were defending more and more hopelessly. Enemy numbers were overwhelming. Meiwez shoot another attacker, but with corner of his eye he saw one from his unit bleeding on the ground, with a wound in his chest. Not far away another soldier fell. He had to hid behind a wall, otherwise he would be next to have a hole in his head. From this wall Kelzyis shoot. - Shit, we can't stand this much longer... - she shout to him, to he could hear her voice in the ubiquitous cacophony of explosions, shots and screams. - I know. But we will not retreat. Suddenly she stopped shooting. She looked at something before them, and she pointed it with her hand. - Look! Finnaly! - What are you... - he said, but he stopped when he saw it. Their reinforcements. Shahinayan reserves fell upon Śranirhian sides. Enemy was shocked and confused but such sudden and unexpected counterattack. Within a minutes imperial forces crushed their sides and moved deeper. Śranirhians, just a few minutes ago sure of their incoming victory, suddenly saw like Shahinayans changing the battle on their favour. A moment ago Śranirhians were like a battering ram, breaking through the enemy ranks and unstoppably forcing them to constant regression forward the city, and Śranirhian garnison in it. Now they were almost entriely surrounded and attacked from every side. Their morale fell head over heels. They were in the trap, exacly as Shah planned. Unable to answer blow for blow and surrounded almost from every side, Śranirhians decided to retreat this only way they were not surrounded. They wanted to escape this onslaught, reorganize and regroup and then attack once again. They moved back west. But then something strange happened. When Śranirhian troops were moving west, attacking by Shahinayans from east, north and south, on their way, from nowhere, appeared new Shahinayan forces, blocking their way of escape. They did not attacked, they just stood there and waited. They were perfectly visible in this cloudless night, in the bright light of moon, stars and electric lights of near city. Despite several days of siege, power station of Wadanay was not destroyed. Śranirhians stopped thier march. Now fully surounded, they were broken. Within next minutes they were slaughtered, the rest of them surrendered. The strange think was that about minute or two after Shahinayan divisions appeared and blocked Śranirhian way, they vanished, disappeared as quickly and unexpectly as they appeared. In the same moment power outage happened in Wadanay and in 5 kilometers around. But in that night no one really cared. After all Shahinayans achieved a crushing victory. |

In the morning of the next day, Śranirhian garnizon of the city of Wadanay declared their capitulation. After seeing as forces sent to help them, almost all armies which their country could sent, are smashing into dust and like victory changes into shameful defeat, commanders leading the defence of Wadanay decided to surrender. In the morning, fourth day after beginning of the siege, imperial soldiers proudly entered the city. They marched in battle array through city's streets. Men and women with rifles and chamzhirs, tanks, transporters, armored vehicles and other military hardware rolled supercilious through city's streets, between stone buildings, columns and destroyed domes. Soon after Shahinayan banner - black eagle on white, black and red field, rose over the city, waving together with the wind. Despite this, Shahinayan occupation policy was not very oppersive. Except for changing city's authorieties, installing imperial institutions on their place and introduction of SAVAK, Empire did not do anything more oppresive. They secured they power and controll over their new territory, but they not conducted any persecution. Even former Śranirhian commander got a chance to go over Shahinayan side. Since Śranirhians were also Aydinirians, treating them differently than other members of this nation was agains official imperial ideology. Capturing Wadanay gave Shahinayans controll over all western part of Śranirh. What's more, since enemy moved almost all his forces to help Wadanay, after losing this battle he was almost defenseless. That was another part of Shah's plan - he prefered to gather all enemy forces in one place and quickly destroy them all at once, than waging a long war with them. Letting them to defend in eastern part of Śranirh, where they had better defensive positions would be mistake. At the same time, Army "South", which unhindered marched along southern coast of Śranirh, was nearing to the city of Chazh. Chazh was a great port city, and a main base of Śranirhian Navy Forces, another city with a very important strategic importance. City was more than two times bigger than Wadanay, and was populated by about 680 thousands citizens. While Wadanay, as a border city for which many parties fought over centuries, with its thick walls and flat, low headroom, was more a stronghold than a city, Chazh was an example of model of Aydinirian city. It's high towers and colourful domes are clearly visible from many kilometers around the city. Although it could not compare with many other Aydinirian cities - it is not as magnificent and rich as Ezhid, not as magical and marvelous as Quadhiya or as ancient and majestic as Assurhan - it has got rather unique atmosphere. Its famous marine ornaments and decoratings, which appeared on its all buildings, are very recognizable. It has got also the same problem as Ezhid and many other cities around the Bay of Ciri - problem with communication. Due to very tight building development in the older parts of the city, which means in almost all of it, it is very hard to ride car here. Lack of proper main roads is very problematic. Chazh has only 2 main rodas to the city center, the rest of ways are writhing between the old houses, palaces and temples, and are only as wide to hold one car, in the best situation. Cars are quite new in this part of the world, in the olden days people walked by foot or rode horses. Cities like Ezhid have some way to solve this problem - Ezhid was located on the Gaya River, so many people hires a carrier, and travels through the city by boat. Chazh has no river, so citizens has to be satisfied with bicycles and motorcycles. Nevertheless, Chazh is for sure one of the prettiest Aydinirian cities. It has got very rich and interesting history as well. In the past Chazh was an independent city-state, which controlled many areas around the south coast. It was, just like Ezhid, one of the few Aydinirian ports which maintained loose trade contacts and relationships with the rest of the world. In its times, Chazh traded with countries like Tarki, Gevina or as exotic ones like Halseqar and Kurrdistan. So why it did not become one of world's main marketplaces, like Ezhid? Four hundred years ago, independent State of Chazh was conquered by its old enemy and rival - city of Śranirh. It was the end of Chazh as an independent state and international port. Śranirhians, which were as isolationist and xenophobic as most of the city-states, cut its ties with outside world and forbade any international trade from this city. They led very oppressive policies towards Chazh, first to humiliate its rival, then to subdue him. They even made Chazh a main base for they Naval Forces, for two reasons - Chazh has got very good strategic position of its location in the natural port, and permanently keeping their forces in the city would help them in controll of it. Despite this, after four hunderd years, Chazh had still very strong independence and anti-Śranirhian moods. That was one of the main reasons of Shahinayan ease of taking over the city. Since most of Śranirhian forces were moved to help Wadanay and Śranirhian Navy was fighting with Daanesh and Zevid in Gilghanlixaru, Chazh was left almost unprotected. Shahinayan forces did not encountered any resistance up to the very walls of the city. But that resistance was futile. After a moment imperial forces entered the city, in which they were welcomed by the citizens of Chazh almost like liberators, with flowers and cheers. Imperial propaganda spreading across city-states, along with honest antipathy towards Śranirhians gave a great result. Now, controlling all west and middle part of Śranirh, with cities of Chazh and Wadanay, Shahinayans had an open way to the very capital of the country. ![]() Another profesional map made in Paint ![]() So: red continuous line - movements of Shahinayan Army, blue continuous line - movements of Śranirhian Army, red crosses - important battles won by the Empire, blue dotted line - movements of Śranirhian Fleet. yellow dotted line - movements of Daanesh-Zevid Fleet Edited by Zisudra, 2 Aug 2016, 14:57.

During another 7 days Shahinayan forces were pushing more and more to the west. Śranirhian army, after it's devastating defeat in Wadanay, was constantly in the back, unable to regain the initiative. After the hard begining, Shahinayan invasion spread its wings. Combined forces of both 'South' and 'North' Army were capturing village after village, town after town and city after city. Śranirhian resistance was weak, but became stronger the more west Shahinayans were coming. |

Ezhid, Palace of Truth, 11.20, 1 August 2515 After Descrution Shah Zisudra nez-Shevdeidh was sitting in his carved chair. Below him were sitting all members of the Council of Knowing. Shah was reading reports from the Battle of Wadanay and the rest of the members were reading something as well, talking quietly between each other or simply waiting. When he finished and put down the files he looked at his officers and advisers. - I have read the files. I have to say I am disappointed. - he said calmly. He had unique ability to force his listeners to focus on his voice, without speaking to loudly. Maybe that was the very point. Nevertheless, he was a great orator. - Your Majesty? - asked Minister of Science. - Do not understand me wrong - everything is going according to the plan. I am disappointed by our holographic prototype. It works... but differend than I imagined. Not as good. I am disappointed by this shortcoming. - My Liege, the prototype was instrumental in our victory - said someone else. - Yes, we are moving in good direction but that is not enough. The prototype displayed a vision of out troops, yes. But they should be moving, pretending to be realistic. They should look, act, be almost like real soldiers. They should be impossible to distinguish from the real soldier up to the very last moment. Instead they just stood. What if Śranirhians moved forvard? They would notice something is wrong if their enemy would still stood when they attack. - That's right. Displaying a stative troops significantly reduces military usefulness of this device. - said Minister of Land Forces. Minister of Navy and Minister of Air Forces nodded. - There is also another thing. Using of this device for 1 minute and... - Shah looked at the files - ... exactly 1 minute and 34 secunds consumed astronomical amount of energy and caused blackout in Wadanay and within a radius of 5 kilometers around. It is unacceptable if we will ever use it on a large scale in combat. And I would like to use it, this technology... gives enormus possibilities. - said Shah. - I expect you to continue research and work on this device. I will give you as many funds as you want but I expect results. - he said to the scientists. Edited by Zisudra, 10 Aug 2016, 13:32.
